This exact issue has been reported by at least 3 owners on the "Kia Seltos Club India" FB group. Such issues are reported in one-liners which you won't spare a thought until somebody like sandy who elaborates on the issue and also catches it red-handed on video. Now we know it is in fact a genuine issue and also not isolated to his copy alone. For his benefit, I've passed him the names of those owners on FB.

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Excellent Review and deserves 5 stars! The efforts and the dedication put in by the moderators to review the most important car shows in the output. I dont think anyone would have driven 1800+ KMs to review a car!

KIA has thoroughly done the homework when launching Seltos and it deserves to be achieve the top spot in the mid-size SUV segment. On my recent trip to Goa from Pune, I saw more Seltos on the road than any of the recently launched cars.

Had it not been for the space and the road presence, I would have been the proud owner of Seltos by now.

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

KIA has released some cool new official accessories.

During my car delivery, I remember the dealer quoting 21k for 3M wrap and 17k for OEM paint for the roof. Now an OEM wrap is available for far less.

This shade looks cool. Should check its practicality in person.

If anybody has these new range of accessories installed, please do post some pictures.

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

At just 4,645 units, Seltos sees a massive 67% drop in dealer dispatch in December, which is as per GaadiWaadi, mainly due to the car-maker cutting down on production as buyers tend to opt for the next year model in the last month of every year.

But still, given the huge line of customers waiting, was it a good move from KIA OR KIA wants to sell Seltos on newer and higher prices, so deliberately dispatched only few units?

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Seltosians, did anyone notice a clicking sound from the boot door lock end whenever you close any of the 4 passenger doors ? Its not very audible and you need to listen carefully to hear that. Any idea what is causing this ?

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Wow!! What a lovely review.
A quick question, is there any plan of Kia to bring AWD/4WD of the Seltos to the Indian market?

The aftermarket cost for the roof wrap is around Rs3500. Even the side step will cost around Rs6500 as compared to Rs15291 what Kia is providing. I asked the manager at the service center as to why this price difference. He said there is a difference in the quality of materials used. But to be honest I was not satisfied with his answer. If anyone has installed any aftermarket accessories please share the experience.

Seems like a smart move to increase their profits. Has the proposed price hike kicked in? Does anyone have the updated price sheets? Carwale.com still shows the older prices as of today.

Great move! KIA does not get saddled with 2019 stock which is difficult to shift or heavily discounted. Ask some lucky Compass owners who got amazing deals.

Better to lose 100 customers than get saddled with 2000 cars with no profit.

In my experience, the dealer prices always come with a huge premium. And the quality isn't up to the mark. They quoted around Rs 14k for the side step for the Hector but the quality is pretty average. The cushions were overpriced too.

A 67% drop is quite a bit, especially for a car with such high demand. In comparison, MG despatched 3000+ units of the Hector, just 200 odd units less than November...ie a 6% decrease.

If the reason was only due to weaker buyer demand to take delivery in December, the figure would have been far higher.

They've not come out with the new prices yet (even though they'd said they'll increase prices from Jan 1), so people who are taking delivery now do have an advantage.

I got the B and C pillar wrapped on my Grand i10. The quality wasn't all that great and the edges have started to peel off. Always better to get this done by professionals.

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Quick questions.

1. Is there a preferred run in period mentioned in the manual? I'm wondering about the 1.4 Turbo 7 DCT. Usually the preferred run in period is until about 1500 kms before you push over 4000 rpm.

2. Owners manual page 6-15, point 5 under engine start/stop says "Do not wait for the engine to warm up while the vehicle remains stationary. Start driving at moderate engine speeds. (Steep accelerating and decelerating should be avoided.)

Does that mean we shouldn't be warming up the engine on a cold start to bring the RPM down?

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Well done Aditya. Good review again,
You get a 90/100.
For the other 10 marks like i said earlier visit the service centre and dealership.
List extended warranty and price.
Service intervals.
Service Cost or packages if any.
Price of key replaceable components / parts upto 40,000 periodic replacement.
But well done. Good work.

A good or bad move will depend on momentum it can sustain. I for one was at the receiving end of this strategy - inspite of having a booking priority from July and variant (GTX+ Diesel AT) confirmation from September, Kia or dealer refused to provide an assurance that they will deliver the car before a price hike. So I cancelled my booking by mid December as personally, thought it was not the right approach.
By last week of December (by them i had received booking amount refund) I was getting calls from dealer that they can deliver the variant, as apparently they had it available. Did not go for it as IMO, again, it was not the right thing. Let's see what 2020 brings in for Seltos in India.
