Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

Can anyone share the mileage the car gives for city usage? The sales advisor mentioned around 18kmpl in city but wanted to check on this with fellow members. I am based in Bangalore and was thinking of getting a used Brio but apparently that gives only 10kmpl. Thank you in advance!

For a basic Maruti, this seems to be way too much, so I asked him to do only what is mentioned in the service booklet and he told me that it costs that much to do ONLY that. Someone else from the service center called me and said they can do this for Rs.6000 as a special offer for me(!) which still seems way too high.

From the service manual, I can see the following needs to be done as part of the PMS,
1. Engine oil(0W -16 ) - To be replaced along with gasket and oil filter. - 2.8 liters
2. Brake fluid - replacement
3. Coolant - replacement
4. Wheel balancing and alignment.

Maruti service cost estimator is showing about Rs.3000 only.
I request BHPians to kindly share the amount they have incurred for this service (2 years/20,000 Km) along with the list of jobs done(if possible the final bill). This would be of great help to newbies like me.
I understand they tend to bill services that are part of PMS as extra like exterior washing/ interior cleaning/brake cleaning etc. A sample bill would be of great help in calling them out.
Hi,
Twice in the past, I've been fooled by the authorised service centre where they did not change the oil during schedules service. They just cleaned the car from outside and handed it over to me. This happened once with my Celerio (now sold) and again with my Ciaz ( now sold).
So, this time, I gave my S- presso for 20k service to my trusted old time mechanic known to me for the past 26 years.
He charged me Rs 4000.
Breakdown is as below:-
Oil change Rs 1100
Oil filter change Rs 350
Air cleaner change 450
Spark plug cleaning 0
Wheel balancing and wheel alignment Rs 300
AC filter clean 0
Brake Oil top up Rs 250
Coolant top up Rs 250
Brake drum opening, cleaning 0
Vehicle exterior wash Rs 350
Labour Rs 950

Good luck

Hi,
My S-Presso Auto is 2 years old, 20k on the Odo has been giving me 13.4 to 14.7 kmpl in city and 19.1 to 20.2 other highway.
Enjoy!

In Chennai peak traffic I am getting 12 kmpl as per MID. 5 km takes about 40 mins to travel in such traffic and I keep AC always ON and at the coolest possible setting. In free-flowing traffic within city roads, I get a MID-indicated 18 kmpl. On highways keeping the car at 80kmph gives MID indicated 26 kmpl. If mileage is your primary concern I think you should check the new celerio with the newer K10C engine.

Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

Hi all,

I am planning to buy an Spresso when the DualJet upgrade happens later this year around the festive season.

Is Spresso the right choice for city driving in a budget of INR 5.0L or should I be contemplating Celerio?

There is one peculiar problem with the USB media playback on infotainment system. Though I have around 1500 mp3 files on the USB drive, the system reads only around 390 files.

Initially, I had all files on the top level folder. But, system was reading only 255 files. Then, I distributed files to sub folders. Then, system started reading and playing around 390 files.

Is there a limit on the number of files and folders that the infotainment system can read? Since the system is common for other Maruti vehicles also, I was surprised on why such a limitation.

On other brand cars, I could play all the songs, even if I keep all files on top level folder.

Appreciate your help to get this issues resolved.
Dear Bijuks,
I had the same problem in my March 2022 purchased Spresso.
First some Audio background: I have nearly 1000 songs( of various language, genre ) which I originally had in 5 subfolders with numbered sequencially like 001,002, etc., in each folder .No problem in Pioneer/ JVC 1DIN players. But the only irritation is, in random mode , same song will be played again even after say 2 or songs sometimes.
Then I combined all the songs into single folder so that all the mixture will lbe like random by default( since I already had numbered) which was ok in Pioneer/JVC.
But when tried this single folder pendrive in Spresso , initially pendrive was not recognised ( I think the system is from Harman). Then I changed the USB, now got recognised, but missed many songs.
Then I went back to 5 sub folder method . Now some songs were missing in 2 folders which had more than 300 songs.( Smaller folders were ok)
Now finally I have 13 subfolders , each having not more than 100 songs which works without any problems. Also the repetition of songs is not there now, as the system remembers each songs and will be repeated only after the completion of one full cycle.
Now since I am travelling to interiors a lot , I use AA more with my Samsung M12. I have same MP3 directory in phone which is played through AIMP player ( I tried VLC but not working properly) which works flawlessly.
Note: Sorry for the delay in reply. I had to register (which was approved today only )for replys.

Dear Altosuperfan,
Following are my considerations while deciding on Spresso.
I was also in the same dilemma in March 2022. I had Alto 800 (:2014 model & 60Kkm) which started to give some AC problems. Considering the parking space and roads, we could only consider Spresso or Celerio.
Out of these 2, we could not decide easily as each one has its + and - points. Celerio gives little more space , lower C of G( which is required for ride comfort), more smoother engine( with more technology) and more mileage. Spresso gives higher stance, visible bonnet, 180mm GC and most importantly 1 to 2 lakhs less( and eager but little noisier engine).
As per the reviews , the dualjet engine is dull for highway driving. Also more technology means more reasons for failures.

In case of mileage, I calculated the mileage aspect like say Celerio gives solid 5 km/l more and if we take mileage of current Spresso as 20 km/l and Celerio as 25km/l,
for Spresso 1 rupee more per km to be spent than Celerio. Considering the price difference , we may have to drive 1 to 2 lakhs km to equalise the price difference.
In my case we wanted AMT intially ( after my son from US of A finalised in favour of Spresso), but we had to wait for 3 to 4 months for delivery. By the time , Spresso would be coming only with dualjet engine ( as happened in other models) which will further increase the price as per rumours. So we settled for manual.
If your requirement is only city driving ( like Bangalore or Chennai) , then Celerio or Spresso in dualjet engine is ok ( may be in AMT too for convience), otherwise like me only outstation driving that too occasionally then Spresso ( M) is best in current engine. After the purchase in March , we went for 1400km trip to Bangalore and Wayanad and back ( to Pondicherry ) .All through my wife was sitting in the back only and she was satisfied with the comfort ( was doubted due the tall stance). AC was super. Gave 20 km/l average mileage. I could touch 125 km speed easily.

Also new Spresso will cost more ( currently VXi+ costs 6 to 6.25 lakhs on road) which will exceed your budget.

In the above list only oil filter seems to higher ( it cost 90/- i think). As per the manual , 20K / 2years service should include brake fluid change and coolant change also. Also labour charges in ASC is higher than FNG( ASC will add GST also ). Whenever car is given for ASC service, it is better to read the manual for checking what is to be done for that service ( as ASC will go as per manual for service part along with other unnessary items). I am DIY guy. Except for wheels , other services can be done at home itself .( Did for Nano, i10 and Alto). Now Spresso from March 2022.
First ( one month) and 2nd service ( 6 months) are only washing. Oil change only on 1year/10k service only which is also free. From 2 year/ 20k onwards planning to DIY.( Initially we planned for AMT with Ext.warranty, but settled for manual without extended warranty as AMT was delayed in delivery).

We cannot deduce anything in reduction in one month sales. As per the dealerships , dualjet engine is to be introduced in Spresso ,so that might be the reason for low sales ( same thing with Brezza as new model is introduced ). Also it seems MS factory was shutdown for 9 days for maintenance in June . We have see July figure to come to some conclusion.

While I agree on this, I am in no way drawing any kind of inference, I had merely stated the fact.

This rumour has been doing rounds since last few months, but there are no confirmed reports on the same.

This can't be singled out as a reason, because its hard to imagine that factory shutdown can affect just one model in the entire Maruti line-up.

https://www.carwale.com/news/2022-ma...t-rs-425-lakh/

2022 Spresso updated, goes through the Dualjet treatment. Loses 4-5bhp and gains 4-5km/l in ARAI mileage. Wonder how the performance would be affected.

Top variants get electric adjust ORVMs, while the AMT variants get ESP as standard.

Maruti, why don't the manual variants deserve ESP?

Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

The S-Presso South Africa spec managed to score 3 stars in GNCAP. So we can consider all new S-presso's with passenger side airbag and seat belt pre-tensioners as 3 star product.

The 2022 S-Presso with dual jet engine / start-stop system is also available now. The automatics also get hill hold and ESP.

Believe it or not, this 7-inch entertainment system is a genuine Harman unit assembled in Harman's Pune plant. Add a few more speakers and you will have a great experience.

Surprisingly the India-made S-Presso with 2 airbags has scored 3 stars in African NCAP and has scored better points than Hyundai Creta and Kia Carens. No wonder the sales of this basic car have increased.
