It seems s presso is the default choice for people with tight parking spaces. I also purchased s presso last year because the new parking space was quit tight. 8 feet wide garage in 3 meter wide street and that also full of bikes seems like impossible, but s presso makes it possible every time

I am also contemplating buying the Spresso as a 2nd car. I am looking for a car with width as low as possible due to the parking space availability. I have 8 feet of space left after parking my Hector and I believe only an Alto or Spresso would be the right choice. All other compact cars have width of more than 1600mm. Other considerations like AT, basic safety features etc., the Spresso ticks them alright. Eventhough the Hector is comfortable to drive on highways, it is a bit big for city driving and parking. Being a diesel manual it is not easy on my knees and feet to drive in city traffic. Spresso owners, please give your suggestions. |
I had the same problem in my apartment building. Even though we have individual car parking , space could accommodate only Alto, Spresso or Celerio with some space for maneuvering as our parking space in at the end near compound wall and our area roads are also narrow ( Jeevanandhapuram in Lawspet). In fact I had adviced other owners to consider the above factors while buying / upgrading their cars. I originally had Alto 800 when we purchased this flat and planned to upgrade only in micro segment. So decided on Spresso( wanted something different and Celerio looked like bigger Alto). Now I am happy about that decision.Got only MT version as my usage is maximum in highways. In any small gap it could squeeze through like auto and since we are only 2 people mostly , it suits us best. Only irritation is the 27 litre fuel tank( even Alto had 35 litre). Though very good as city car I had driven upto Wayanad, Kerala in West and Srisailam in North and never felt the need of bigger car.

Exactly.
Last year when I bought this car, I never thought I will be writing so high of it. After owning ecosport for 8 years, it was not an easy decision to go for a car this small. It took me 6 months to make my mind for S presso.
Even though car is compact from outside, from inside, I never have a feeling that i am driving a small car.
Engine performance is really outstanding. I never have to downshift while overtaking even with ac on. In chitkul when other diesel cars were struggling on inclines, s presso was going as if it was strolling in park.
High set seats are a boon in cities as well as highways.
Other thing worth mentioning is its ac. I have never used 2nd speed on blower and it cool down the cabin in no time.
I have driven s presso 550 kms at a stretch which include 350 kms of ghats, but there was no sign of fatigue (Maybe I enjoy driving a lot).
Only thing which I dont like in s presso is poor noise insulation. For that I have done 3m insulation on doors.
Overall i can term spresso a sort of miracle car which is compact as well as spacious, efficient as well as fast, economical as well as comfortable.

Does the S-Presso have a hill start feature? In a slope, will it roll back while switching from brake to accelerator? The Alto K10 review mentions that even though Alto K10 does not get this feature, the S-Presso gets it. But the S-Presso review specifically mentions car rolling back. In reality, does it roll back on inclines?

The initial version of the Spresso didn't have hill-hold, but the BS6.2 from 2022 onwards has hill-hold +ESP in the AMT versions. Maybe that's why the TeamBHP review mentions the Spresso not having one.
I TDed a 2020 used Spresso (without the hill-hold) a couple of days ago for an acquaintance. To my surprise, unlike the early Maruti AMTs or Kwid AMT, you can stop and go in an incline with quick foot work. The old Maruti AMTs and Kwid would roll back a good distance even if you quickly jump onto the accelerator after releasing the brakes. They definitely need the handbrake method.

I have 2022 Oct Spresso and it has hill-hold feature. Works seamlessly on incline stop / start situations. No worries of roll back.
Maruti service is no longer cheap
It is a common misconception that Maruti is cheap to service and maintain. Attached is my bill for the first paid service at the end 2 years of ownership. Only item changed on request was a pair of wiper blades. All others were told to me as part of routine service. They had tried to make me do wheel balancing and alignment but I had already often that done from outside along with wheel rotation at 10000 kms.
My Volkswagen Polo which was outside warranty was cheaper to service IIRC (2 years back at Bangalore once you make them remove the useless AC disinfection and things like that )

Dear Autodoc,
I also have Spresso manual ( 2022 March) model. First 2 free services are nothing but washing only. 3rd free service has oil/filter change.Normally they don't say which oil they are using unless we enquire.. Initially I was told the bill would be around 4000/- for which I asked for details. Upon enquiry I found it was Mobil synthetic oil ( Rs 1250/- per litr and grade is 0w30 or something). As I knew the manual recommends 0w16, I enquired about that also. That is Ecstar( supplied by IOCL for MSIL) costs around 500/- per litre. When enquired why to this was not told first, the reply was nowadays everybody seems to asking for synthetic oil. I initially decided for synthetic but latter changed to normal due my limited use. Tyre rotation was supposed to have done at 5000 km (which happened at the second free service) but was not done. This time I specifically asked for it and though it seems it was chargeable but done free for me. Reason might be after reporting at the reception at 9am I was not attended by even by 10 due to some carelessness ( I needed to remind about my car myself ). This never happened before in 2 previous services.
For 2 year /20k service , Engine oil/filter, coolant and brake fluid to be changed as per the manual . Also for the first time labour charges are collected from customer. So this service will cost more than previous services.
But the labour charges for throttle body assembly gasket, injecter cleaning and front brake caliper assembly are not part of routine service unless something really wrong in these parts.. Yes.. labour charges are not cheap nowadays..That is why I try to do routine services as DIY ( as I have plenty of free time and interest). My 2 year service will come March 2024. Also the 2 year warranty would be over at that time. Did not go for Extended Warranty. Now I am thinking whether I should give to them or do it myself.

What I can make out of the bill, you are being charged for
-throttle body cleaning
-injector cleaning
Which are not recommended by company.
You should be bit more vigilant while giving your car for service because as per my experience I was charged approximately 3000/- for 10k km service of my spresso and that included even wheel alignment and balancing.

Our experience has been good with key benefit been car’s small footprint, all bells and whistles in terms of features & accessories and its upright high seating position which immensely helped my wife to become a confident driver..........
Posting few pics, we got couple of accessories including alloy wheels etc |
Hi, I am considering the same version for my dad. My 2014 Tata Nano is losing its sheen and I see no worthy replacement other than the S-Presso in terms of space and seating height.
Please share your feedback on:
1. Hill-Assist performance
2. Long drive experience (I mean do you feel safe riding it on Express Ways? Tata Nano can easily clock 100 kms/hr on the expressway but I don't have confidence considering its body and drum brakes)

Hi virajvroom, below is my feedback:-
1. Hill hold works seamlessly and have not experienced roll back on slopes in Spresso till date.
2. Though our primary usage is city, to give my wife experience and lessons for long distance/ highway/ hill driving we have taken Spresso to Lonavala twice, once through old highway and next time through expressway.
We were more comfortable on old highway as compared to expressway. We don’t go beyond 80 km/hr in this car though engine is capable to do 100+.
On Expressway we felt little unsettled as it’s suspension is stiff and we didn’t go beyond 80 km/hr.
On regular old highway, it was actually easy to zip through in it and as such we didn’t felt any issues. We went till lion’s point and no negative observations, the car has good pull and tractability.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. The days of 100+ on Mumbai-Pune expressway are over. However, 80-100 is a requirement while overtaking heavy vehicles driving in the wrong lanes. My dad anyways won't drive beyond 60 lol: Thanks for the feedback. I will test drive Redi-go and Kwid once before making a final decision.
Anyone heard any rumours or inside news about an S-Presso facelift? I mean a proper facelift, not the 2022 car that had a BS6.2 mandated engine upgrade and some feature additions.
The S-Presso was launched four years ago in September of 2019. Even with Maruti’s longer product life cycles, isn’t it high time for a facelift?
I am using s presso since 1 year and have driven it 17k kms so far. Quite satisfied with the overall experience barring poor NVH insulation and sub par ride and handling.
For bouncy ride and handling, I tried reducing tyre pressure from company recommended 32 psi to 30 psi. Post pressure reduction, ride has become more absorbent. Now all the bounciness has gone and it has positive effect on car handling as well.
Guys you can also try reducing tyre pressure on your s presso and share your experience here.
