Also got LEDs installed on high and low beam + parking bulbs.

Looks good! Would you mind sharing details about which bulbs you used and how the low beam is, especially in city driving? Thanks.

On Friday got new set of tyres, upgraded to 205/55/R16 Continental UC6.

Hi. The 205/55 looks smashing. I've got the same 16" rims on my Vento and looking to upsize to the same 205/55 from the stock 195/55.

By some rough calculations from a website, it says 5.5mm increase in height. Does it seem apparent and help with bad roads?

Greetings everyone!

Our Tata Nano is about to turn 10 in a few months and has served us well. We've started to look around for a replacement and have finally landed on the Polo Comfortline TSI. Polo ticks all the boxes but one; reliability. Is the 1.0 TSI reliable enough?(of course with proper maintenance). We expect service expenses to be on the higher side but the car itself should not fail on us like the infamous DSG woes. It would be really helpful if Polo owners could shed a light on this one.

Regards

I have a 1.0 TSI highline plus (Manual), I have done only 4500+ km , major reason is WFH so it's pure travel 4500km. It would be too soon for me to comment anything on reliability but yes, till now everything is smooth, the 6 months maintenance check up is also done for my car (2 days back only), nothing came up except wheel alignment which they did for free :D

As for service expenses, I would strongly suggest you to go for service packages. I purchased as 5 years service pack for 33k (after 5k discount) which comes down to 6.6k per year for normal service. One thing I liked about service pack is that you get one time battery replacement, disc replacement, 2 times wiper replacement as well included in that price. So it made sense to me.

I asked the SA during my 6 months check up and he said Normal service costs anything between 8-10k. Folks who have got it serviced here can comment on the accuracy of the amount but anyhow, service pack is a good deal if you get it at some discount like I did.

My bad luck continues, took her out on a joy ride after 14 days and came back home on space saver on the front left after suffering a tyre burst on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, I went into a pothole at high speed. Will be getting new tyres for all 4 wheels.

While the blue colour looks good on the Polo but its a bit of a struggle to keep the car clean. No issues with the car after the major accident in Oct'21. clap:

Congratulations on completing 10k, I am sure you would've loved driving this beautiful engineering. I have covered half distance compared to you and I really love the driving dynamics.

Yesterday only I went to Noida-Greater Noida expressway on my bike for a joy ride (nearly after 2 years) and I was thinking to take Polo there as well, will be careful now but surely going to take it there :p

And I completely agree with you on the maintenance of the colour, it's a pain for me as well to maintain my Sunset Red but it's beautiful to eyes when well maintained.

If you stay in Noida or somewhere maybe we can catch up and have a ride somewhere close. It will be fun having a sunset red and this beautiful Lapiz Blue going side by side. :)

Steering has gone a bit heavy, loving this upgrade!

Does upgrading to 205 sections cause warranty issues? Though i am not looking to upgrade presently but later on I might :D

The Noida- Greater Noida expressway has lost its charm, the roads are so pathetic now and needs a lot of rectification.
I also own a Highline Plus MT sunset redclap: and live in Noida only. Looks like most 1.0 TSIs are here only.

Thank you for your response, the service package surely makes sense as I've seen YouTube videos regarding service costs, they can go up to as high as 10k.

I don't think upgrading tyre section voids the warranty but he can comment better.

Also, I agree the route has lost that charm, no marking, no lanes, nothing but the tarmac is still good till Advant building. Another TSI nearby, that's great. 3 TSI rolling together will be pleasing to the eyes :Cheering: How long has it been for you?

Well it has been 1 year 3 months since I bought the car and the odometer currently stands at 10965 kms.
And yes it will be pleasing or should I say if we roll back to back people would feel we're the Flash rl:

All, I had one question. The GT trim misses out on the rear AC vent which is available on the highline plus trim. My question is, apart from the rear vent, is the air con setup the same between both the cars (compressor, condenser, evaporator etc.)?

I am about 1 month in my ownership of a Highline + AT Polo. Booked it on 1st of Oct and got it just at the end of Dec/1st week of Jan. Enough has been said about this car in this thread and overall. Just a few of my points:

- For people with a family, this is strictly a second car. We use it primarily for in city driving and mainly as my wife's car and she is very happy with the smaller dimensions in tight places.

-Still, it is quite reassuring for me when my wife and kid is out in this car as opposed to if it was a Maruti etc. It gives a certain confidence of safety that this is a properly built, safe and study vehicle.

- I love driving it and the engine + gearbox combo is a hoot. Loves to be driven hard but unfortunately that shows very quickly on the mileage. My other car is an auto Creta and I prefer taking the polo every single time I go out of the house.

- As mentioned by most people, it has a very aggressive initial creep function but that settles down after a while. The gearbox is very linear and I haven't felt any untoward upshifts/downshifts. No head nod and no lag. I have hardly used sport mode ever! Want to try it out on a ghat road to see how it functions.

- The highline has a rear ac vent which the daughter surely appreciates and maybe the dog too.

- The rear windows don't go down completely which the dog hates. He loves the Creta for only this reason. All windows have single touch full up/down function btw.

- The music system is basic and old but extremely functional with Android Auto/CarPlay functionality. It is also very responsive and I find the music output not too bad as well with deep bass up to sensible volume levels. As pointed out in the review the cable for android auto does tend to get in the way of the gear but in an automatic it really doesn't matter much.

- The standard lighting has been ok for city use. Haven't taken it out on highways yet.

- In all my cars, I have fitted fairly premium tyres except this one. It came with MRF ZVTV tyres which surprisingly feel fine for our purposes. Again haven't taken it out on highways and in wet conditions but for now they feel fine and the ride feels great as well.

- I love the self-dimming IRVM, the ORVMs seem to have shrunk in size as compared to the old polo but you get used to them pretty quickly.

- It comes with Cruise control as standard in this version but I found the controls on the stalk very fiddly. Surely it needs a steering mounted controls (I have seen some mods with steerings that had CC functions) for it to be useful. In city this is a hardly used feature so I have actually turned it off.

- For a measly price of 9k I got a rear view camera fitted at the dealership (fits above the number plate, the logo flip one is also a possibility but dealership charges you an arm and a leg for it. It can be fitted separately if you have the ball to try that mod on your own and there is an excellent thread that shows you how to do it) and it functions quite well. To my surprise, it also has dynamic lines which was a welcome surprise!

- Car comes with VW connect which is a small device that connects to the OBD port. Once paired to your phone, it gives you all kinds of info which I find quite useful but a bit intrusive at times when my wife found out I was speeding(80kph on a highway btw is enough speeding to send out a notification)

Mods planned:
-May get a maxidot cluster installed after a while.
-May change tyres if I find these inadequate on out of town drives.
-May get headlights changed if I find these inadequate on out of town drives

In short, personally I do not think there is another car that comes close to this one in terms of sheer driving pleasure and safety in this class if you are looking for a second car. People who have booked it won't be disappointed. Looking at the new offerings from VW, I am not too optimistic of the new polo that may come our way. Plus with the troublesome DSG (we have had 6 VWS with DSG's before this and none have given any problems but none were driven more than 1L kms so don't know if the DSG's on them would have failed or not) out of the way, hopefully I am looking for hassle-free decade of ownership. I would encourage people to hold on to their bookings and get this car while it lasts. It is a gem!

Polo is indeed one great ride.
Did you book it in Dec? I tried with all showrooms in Bangalore and none of them had stock in Dec. Finally took delivery of i20 IVT considering it’s a beater car for city and more spacious. Though I am happy with i20 for the intended use, still when I see a Polo feels I should have waited.

Did you consider the i20 N-Line and what are your thoughts? It costs about couple of lakhs more but comes with many modern features besides the space.
I have been contemplating swapping my 3 years old i20 CVT with either a pre-owned Polo GT (DSG), new Polo AT or N-Line.

A must have upgrade from pathetic stock bulbs. These are DHC LEDs - 4300K in low beam and 6200K in high beam.

Yes it does, the reason I went ahead with the upgrade. Next up is suspension, if I keep the car for few more years I am for sure getting a suspension upgrade. The ride on the Polo is highly overrated.

I stay in Greater Noida (near pari chowk), definitely should plan a meet.

Honestly, I did not bother checking. I just went ahead and got more rubber. :)

I hate the design of the new i20 so didn't even consider it. Actually loved the old i20 and we still have one of those. I haven't driven the N line but it comes with either a iMT which is a gimmick or a DCT which has questionable reliability so didn't consider it. I think it is pretty hard to beat the engine gearbox combo on the Polo. Rest of the gimmicks I don't care too much about. Space is surely an issue with the Polo but we didn't have that as an issue. I would stay away from old Polo DSGs as well.

I booked in October when the chip shortage was really bad. The dealer told me when I picked up mine that they have 60 booking still to process from their showroom so they were not accepting any more bookings until they clear the pending ones first.

Taking delivery of Carbon Steel Grey Polo HLP AT

Hi all, I'm overjoyed to share the delivery of my Polo HLP AT today after a very long wait of two and a half months!

I usually drive an XUV300 W8 diesel. The Polo in comparison felt much more matured and capable. The road manners are impeccable and the engine is a gem of a motor. The torque converter unit doesn't really feel like a torque converter and has quick shifts. I was nervous initially due to the creep function set a tad bit higher than other torque converters I'm used to, but I quickly understood the behaviour. The Polo feels planted at all times, unlike the XUV300. The car is much more compliant. The only gripe I have is the sub-par braking performance of this car. I have driven it around 60 km so far and initial impressions are spectacular to say the least. Excellent fit and finish, everything feels built to last.

Special thanks to the team bhp review that helped me finalise my car purchase decision. I was torn between this and the i20 N8, but I'm happy to report that I'm more than satisfied with my purchase decision. Here are some pictures clicked during delivery.

Guys, I know many of you have used the VCDS to enable the needle sweep in the instrument cluster. In my 2022 model the needle sweep was enabled by default from the factory. Not sure if this was the case since the facelifted model was launched, but I know earlier Polos didn't get this feature. Just in case anyone finds this helpful.
