This is not correct. Life of ATF is simply dependent on how hot it gets.

They are right in saying so. As per VW, the AQ250 09G (TAU named) transmission doesn't require an oil change except if the transmisison has been dismantled. See the below picture for your reference taken from Skoda Rapid workshop manual for transmission. The transmission and engine in Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI and VW Polo 1.0 TSI are same.

However, not undermining the fact that oil does degrade over time with exposure to temperature changes and wear particles, the oil does require change.

This is even emphasized by the fact that 1.0 TSI AT transmissions in Slavia, Kushaq, Kylaq, Virtus & Taigun require oil change in 60k Kms / 4 Yrs as per VW & Skoda. This could be due to the fact that the transmissions on these models could be different or the oil spec filled in factory is different or any other reason not known.

It would be wise to see what is the transmission code / name of these cars and see if it's TAU or something else. If it is not TAU, then IMO you should get the oil changed. If it's TAU then you should change the oil only when you first feel the symptom of slow gear shifts which becomes persistent for sometime (say few weeks).

Cheers,

Yes, most of the 90k were cruising and highway runs with a small percentile of city runs. Does this have an impact on the oil quality in the slush box?

Yes. More highway drives result in less gear shifts as compared to city driving, which keeps the ATF cooler during operation. Heat spoils ATF and ultimately degrades the gearbox.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

My beauty returned to me after a 3 year hiatus with my dad. She ran only <3k kms during this period. ODO now stands at 19k kms. Brought the car back to BLR since she was just wasting away in my hometown. Not sure how much running I will manage to put in considering the fact that I also have a 2.0 TSI Octy sitting pretty in the garage Driving her back on the 600 km return trip has certainly thrown out any thoughts of selling this beauty.

The Bilstein B6 set up takes handling to a whole new level. That coupled with the Conti UC 6 tyres- pure bliss on broken roads and highways. I've put in too much money into this car to let go that easy. I've always run on an upgraded audio set up. For the polo, I'm running focal speakers, amp and under seat sub with the stock HU. Since I got the car back, I've taken care of the final itch to replace the HU. All this cos the reverse camera wasn't working!! Satya from Evo recommended Nakamichi HU, installed last week and its certainly an awesome upgrade.

Note that my car is a Polo Highline with GT bits thrown in. The GT had too many missing parts like no arm-rest, spare key was a dud, missing rear AC vent and a few other bits I can't remember now. All I needed to do was to throw in the GT badges and the spoiler at the dealership

Things I've done so far on my 2020 1.0 TSi in the sequence of installation.

1. Replaced stock tyres to 205/16 UC6 right out of the dealership
2. Leather interiors from Imperial leathers - BLR
3. 3m CR 70- Front windshield
4. Stock horn replaced with VW along with RV camera (crap camera but installed due to warranty)
5. Bilstien B6- Petes Cochin
6. Audio upgrade with stock HU. Focal speakers, components, tweeters and underseat sub and amp- EVO customs
7. HU upgrade to Nakamichi along with Nakamichi RV camera
8. Rear windshield black-out and full ceramic- Cars Buddy Koramangala

Things on the maybe later list.
Upgrade to big break kit
New alloys- Although I love the stock ones too
Stage 1 tune
Full system Miltek - maybe maybe

For now, between the Octy and the Polo, the need to upgrade parts or even cars is non-existental. I don't use my cars for commuting in this cess pool. My Dukes handle commuting duties like pros.

Sharing a few pics post detailing last week.

Love a superbly maintained Polo! Kudos on the care you've invested in it.

I took the plunge recently and did a full-on Stage 1 tune on my 3-year-old GT TSI (The go-kart-ification of my beloved 2022 Polo GT TSI). Perhaps you may find some inspiration there -- the renewed driving experience is other-worldly.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Hi folks,

Facing two persistent issues on my 2021 VW Vento TSI:
1. Lock/Unlock Horn Confirmation Not Working
 – Horn works from steering wheel
 – Works in VCDS output test
 – Acoustic confirm enabled in Adaptation
 – No DTCs, battery reset done – no change
 – Appeared after I swapped the horns with E-Class Horns. Sockets are the same

2. Right Parking Light (Both Front & Rear) Not Working
 – Bulbs OK
 – Left side works fine
 – Output test shows RH light as “Inactive”
 – Still no output
 – Appeared after I made some VCDS changes like speed warning removal and RLS coding changes (for rain closure) to 066800 and 0714DD. Original coding was 0368DD. I reverted this coding to original one yet no help

Using VCDS and BCM 6RU 937 086 S. Any ideas if this is logic suppression or BCM output failure?

PS: If someone can help me with Autoscan of their newer 2021+ Polo/Vento MT, it’d be a great help.

Thanks in advance,
HMV

This is the reason, your new Horns don't work on the short impulse used for acoustic confirmation.

Install the correct factory horn to have it working

Understood! Will try switching back to OE horns and see if it works. VCDS output tests trigger a short beep, though. That’s what has me confused.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Hello All
I am writing with utmost dissatisfaction and anger about a recent incident I faced with Volkswagen Noida. I have been a regular customer at their service centre and mostly had an ok experience. Till now I made sure that during the service happens I am present throughout the time. However for long duration jobs it is not possible. While I am not bringing and quoting any old issues here but will put only the recent one as I feel they have now crossed the limit.

On Saturday 21st June 2025 I gave my car for ac blower and ac performance rectification. The blower was making a high pitched noise for sometime now and they suggested it needs replacement and additionally the ac performance dropped by a huge margin and team suggested that the cooling coil has leaked. So I gave it for rectification, since the work was to be carried under warranty and the cooling coil needs replacement it'll atleast take 3 days. The ideal technicians, there are 2 of them who work on such issues, one had an off on Sunday and one on Monday so the SA told me that he'll try to deliver by Monday evening or else max by Tuesday. I was ok with the timeline as I understand it takes time to open the entire dash and did not want them to rush into things. I told each one of them to make sure proper fittings are done and there should be no issue. But as my fate would have it, today I collected the vehicle in the late evening (I was late there was no one so just went to collect the car) assuming there would be no issues, but in just 5mins I spotted absolutely not acceptable issues with the vehicle-

1. The rear defogger switch is stuck and non-functional

2. None of the interior lights are working, including all four window switches, headlight switch

3. The steering is now tilted at an odd angle, and the car is pulling sharply to the right—there was no alignment issue at the time of submission

4. The panel fitment at the driver footwell is poor, causing my foot to get stuck between the clutch and panel when using the dead pedal

5. The horn pad feels unusually hard to operate

6.There are also dangling wires and new scratches observed

This is an example of absolute shoddy work, gave the service advisor an earful as well. Have dropped a message to the GM service because his phone was not reachable. I am just boiling with anger as I gave them more than the required time to fix the issues, and in return what do I get is a lot of more issues. Now only thing that works properly is the AC, which I feel is also too soon to comment given their workmanship.

Will let you all know how things work out now.

An update on the above issues, got them rectified by visiting again. They had to keep the car for one whole day to diagnose the issue with the interior lights. The lighting fuse kept blowing and they were not able to identify, however after checking they found out that during fitment of the arm rest panel with the rear AC and charging port they punctured the charging port wiring. It has been rectified, however I did tell them if any shoddy rectification makes me lose my warranty then they have to take the ownership.

Hoping now the car runs without issues. And yes received a call for feedback, I gave a zero.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Peculiar VW experience

One of my headlight bulbs has gone bad, so I pulled the headlight housing in order to replace the bulb. What did I find out? Out of the two housings, one was originally in my car, but the other is someone else's! I verified this by checking the date of manufacture on the two housings, and clearly one was manufactured months after I purchased my car. I also usually go for Philips RacingVision GT200 bulbs, but this one had Osram stock bulbs! My car came with made in India Hella housing, but this one is made in Czech Republic.

My guess is, someone at the showroom accidentally plonked another Polo's headlights in while servicing my car. How weird! I still don't understand how that was a made in Czech Republic one though.

Made in India headlights:
Note the date of manufacture

Have any of you ever faced such a thing?

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Hi all,

I have a 1.0 TSi manual which has run around 35000 km. Recently i feel that the cabin noise has increased
Any one else feels the same. Anyone tried sound damping over here?.

Also i feel like when the ac is switched on, the drive quality is reduced. That is, the power delivery is unpredictable in lower gears. Anybody faced these issues?
