I(My dad) had a black Esteem way back in early 2000s. After using it I had promised I will never buy black again.

Black Harrier is so attractive, is it a nightmare to keep it good looking? Have any recent changes in paint or ceramic coating made it easier to maintain a black car?

We plan to buy a Harrier from Gujarat and I plan to use it in Bangalore for 3 - 4 years. Should I be worried about Bangalore workshop not respecting the warranty? I plan to get the car covered under 5 years warranty.

If i come across any problems with the car, will I have to get the car back to Gujarat?

1. Warranty is pan India so no need to worry

2. It seems issue is going to be the Bangalore police . Ideally you have to re-register the car in Bangalore for extensive usage

Thanks for your response.

I am confident that I will be taking the car back to Gujarat atleast once a year to get my regular service done. I believe my service receipt would be a good enough proof that the vehicle does not reside in Bangalore permanently. Also, there is a possibility of me leaving Bangalore in 3 to 4 years. I don't want to spend 3l extra and buy it from Bangalore.

Congratulations! Did you manage to get some good deal?
Just the standard offers - Got a 5K corporate discount & 3D floor/trunk mats.

Insurance - Not going ahead via the dealer, though they did come down from 1.15 lakhs to 80K.

There was an exchange bonus of upto 40K, but did not avail since am taking the vehicle on company lease whereas current vehicle is in my name.

Other Harrier models (XZA, XZ etc) has some lucrative cash discounts though.

I believe the warranty is for 4 years. Please recheck with them. Fantastic, if there is a 5 year cover, and yes warranty is pan-india. So don't worry

I think the EW plan became upto 5 years from August 2019 batches. I remember it painfully clear since the 5 year coverage became effective just 2 days after I opted for the 2+2 EW.

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

Sorry, missed this in my earlier post. The KHT Motors SA told me that the service interval (post the free services) is 15000 km or 1 year, while the review says 7500 km or 6 months. Can anyone shed some more light on this?

Can you check what the owner's manual says? Everything shall be mentioned in that.

Re: 2020 Tata Harrier Automatic : Official Review

Completed 3375 km with a 2100 km drive from Bhopal to Trivandrum .

Driving Observations :

1. Used city mode in 4 lane highways.

2. Economy mode is too lethargic for my taste

3. Sport mode is best suited for single lane highways for that quick overtaking

4. Fuel Efficieny converges to 15.0 km/l within a cruising speed between 100 - 120 km/hr After testing city and economy , there is not much changes in fuel efficiency figures in that speed

5. Found the steering tuning well weighted for my taste. In comparison I found XUV300 and Creta steering too light and lifeless . I have to attempt a hard manoeuvre when a biker jumped infront of our car cruising at 80km/hr from the peephole the bikers create on 4 lane highway dividers. The car behaved in an impressive manner by changing the lane but with out losing the composure

6. The car is very well planted, have confidence-inspiring high speed manners and the ability to mask speed

7. The engine - gearbox combo is very good and shifting is smooth

8. The audio quality is so amazing, it was really a Indo-Western musical drive

9. The AC is chilling

Acessories :

1. 3M Nomad Mats : Paid INR 6500/- for entire car. Best for those long journeys and it delivers as per the commercials

2. Garware Ice cool shield sunfilms : paid 7500/- for windshield and side windows. Instead of 3M CR-70(quote was around 36K) went ahead with Garware to make sure it will pass through police checking(financial risk is less ) . It helped a lot during our journey and AC was always around 25 degree C

3. 70mai Internal TPMS : Bought it online from 70 mai online store for INR 5499/- and get it installed from a tyre store. completely wireless and sensors communicate via RF to receiver display which runs on solar

4. 70 mai dash cam pro (without gps) : Bought it online from 70mai online store for INR 5999/- . Have to install this properly by routing the wires

First Service : 1000km - 2000km

Car is going for first service tomorrow .

Issues :

1. Boot relase key in the keyfob is not working

2. Experiencing a slight drift towards the left .

As per user's manual , there are 3 free services
1. first service : 1000 - 2000 km
2. second service : 7000 - 8000 km
3. third service : 14,500 - 15,500 km

Are you sure, because I got the pentacare EW in Feb this year. Even when I booked the car in Dec last year, 5 year EW was available.

Oil change interval is 15K kms or 1 year, there is a general checkup every 7.5K or 6 months, where they wash your car, top up fluids required, etc.

My bad totally. I meant August 2019. I got my car in August 2019, not 2020. Sorry! (Have reported OP to be corrected.)

After reading your post, just checked mine today and found the same issue. Not sure when it stopped working, as I generally don't use the keyfob to unlock the boot. Which version of ICE software are you on? Mine is R12.2
