The system is setup such that even with the sound faded to the rear it is very, very low. Not much that I could do with it.

I too have Alnacs but I have not faced any noise issues. Or maybe I am not as discerning as you are.

I reset the accumulated info everytime I embark on a trip and use it as the trip meter. The drive info resets if the vehicle is not used for 4 hours since the last trip.

I have replaced it with a Godrej aer gel once the fragrance went away. Didn’t bother with replacing the cartridge.

Congratulations on your purchase! Wishing you happy miles ahead

1. I feel the Bose music system is underwhelming

Have you tried adjusting the equaliser? You can move it to the left and right as well as front and back. My wife loves the music loud and I shift it to the back to have some quiet time while driving (she sits at the back with our kiddo). The bass is decent for what we have in the name of a subwoofer.

2. I got Apollo Alnac tyres with mine, and the tire noise entering the cabin is very high on highways. I am annoyed due to this, and am looking for possible solutions.

Adjust the sound settings the Apollo ones are better when it comes to stock tyres.

3. The trip meter resets after parking the car overnight

You can use the secondary trip meter which I use for keeping record of tank to tank distance covered. You can also find more data in Kia connect app.

4. I have removed all the strips from the perfume cartridge, but the smell is really faint.

Are you keeping the fan on Auto mode? Usually the fan speed comes down as we drive. I didn't find a cartridge in my GTX so I'll be searching for it tomorrow.

It’s placed inside the armrest once you open it.

Oh ok. I thought that was the air purifier. Will check it out once then.

Better to spend on Ambipure or Godrej AER than go for a 1K replacement then

Booked the GTX D AT on 19th June. Getting the delivery on 26th June. Any points to remember for Delivery day? Also I would be doing a PDI just to ensure they don't give me someone rejected car.

That’s a superfast delivery unheard of in recent times; lucky you! Anyways, take the TBHP PDI checklist , check for the VIN details and you should be ok.

It feels like the rear speakers are not producing sound at all, even if the speaker positioning is set to back seat. It almost feels like something is wrong with the music system.

You should go into settings and change the focus of the sound, I've set mine to the driver seat and it makes a difference.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

I own a Kia Sonet GTX Plus 1.5 CRDi VGT 6AT. Since many people have been asking about fuel efficiency of this engine and gearbox combination, I thought I’ll share the fuel efficiency that I’ve been getting.

Last weekend, I drove from Manneguda to Manikonda. I started my drive on a wide and empty road at around 12:30 AM, and after driving for 2-3KM, I reached ORR.

Once I hit ORR, I set the cruise speed to 100KMPH and did not brake even once till I reached my exit on ORR (which was an approximately 45KM stretch).

Right before exiting ORR, I recorded a fuel efficiency of 22.0KMPL. I’ve attached an image for your reference. It went up to 22.3KMPL but I couldn’t capture an image as it was not safe to take the hands off the steering wheel.

Anyway, my destination was 3-4KM away from the ORR. The road which I had to take to reach the destination was wide, well-paved, and empty. However, I had to brake a couple of times and modulate the speed due to turns and speed breakers. As a result, the fuel efficiency dropped to, I think, 21.6KMPL, which is the best fuel efficiency I’ve achieved till now.

It was only me in the car, and the car did not have any luggage in it. During the entire drive, the temperature was set to 23 degrees celsius (outside temperature was around 28 degrees celsius) and the seat ventilation was turned on to its coldest setting.

I’ll soon share the fuel efficiency that I got on a trip from Hyderabad to Goa and back.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

I got home my Kia Sonet GTX+ 1.5 Manual Transmission Diesel two days back and I would want to share my detailed review of the same.

Background:
I used to own Hyundai i10 Grand Sportz till Feb 2020 and used it for about 7 years and absolutely loved it. That was my first car so maybe I am biased towards the performance. My wife had started using the car in its last few months as she was planning to buy her own soon. In feb 2020 we gave it in exchange and wife got a Baleno for her. I was to upgrade my car pretty soon but then lockdown hit all of us. Since then my wife started working from home hence the Baleno remained with me. I was waiting for the right time to go for a new car but had no "good reason" and then normal offices started off. Wife needed the car and now I had the opportunity.

I stay in Pune and work in corporate legal field and have to make weekly trips to Mumbai for my matters in the court and that ways I travel a lot otherwise too. We have farms near Bidar and I have to make frequesnt visits there as well. So mileage was a very important criteria for me. Looks, colour, etc were all secondary. The vehicle has to have airbags, fuel efficiency high, and comfortable to drive.

Option Hunting:
Now wife wanted me to upgrade to a very "good car" in terms of looks etc so it looks smart when I travel around with my clients. Frankly it may sound really weird but I did not have any budget at all. In the sense I could choose anything between 10 lacs to 25 lacs. But being from a typical middle class family I did not want to spend "too much" as well. Wife however had a point where she wanted me to "upgrade" to a very very decent looking SUV/sedan.

So we set about checking all of the options. We checked the Slavia, Creta, Kushaq, Taigun, Seltos, Sonet, Thar, MG Astor and I literally took test drive of all these vehicles. However I was somehow very clear that I wanted a Diesel Manual. Personally I dont prefer automatic cars, my bhabhi has one and I occasionally drive it if I dont have an option, have a celerio in the family and that is used by me only in case I dont have an option. I somehow prefer the old school manuals.

What I learnt from visiting every showroom and testing every car that was available, it ultimately boils down to "what you want". Somehow I was pretty clear about it this time around and after driving a small hyundai for 7 years.

Because of the "diesel" preference half the cars were knocked off and finally we decided to book MG Astor (petrol, wife's choice so couldnt say no)and Kia Sonet Diesel MT GTX+. This happened on April 19.

I anyway did not want MG Astor and one fine day I receive a mail saying there is a price hike. Used this to cancel the booking and get the refund. Meanwhile I was asking the dealer about my Sonet. and so it happened, someone couldnt arrange the finance and dealer gave me an option to pickup Sparkling Silver option. Although I had booked red colour but then again i dont usually pay much heed to all these things so I said fine and accepted.

Next day I made the payment and decided the delivery date as 22nd June. Before doing so I visited the dealership to check out various available accessories. Did not take anything that was chrome. Took essentials like mud flaps etc. I have a 15 month old son so thought he might enjoy the CocoMelon videos while driving so booked a rear entertainment system for about INR 44000. It is yet to come. Dealership says may take about 10 days. Will post an update once it gets fitted.

Delivery experience was great. I have read a lot of bad reviews about those but for me it was good. The vehicle was ready as per the promise.

Next day it was my parents marriage anniversary so decided to take them to Mahad Ashtavinayk Darshan which is a short drive from Pune.

Fuel Efficiency: 21.9 KM/L. Total Kms 158.1 Kms

Next day I had a hearing in Mumbai so took the car. Light city traffic in the morning in Pune, Expressway and then bumper to bumber trafiic in Mumbai while coming back and light traffic in Pune I was able to achieve 23.7 Km/L and covered 302 Kms.

I always drive between 85-95 kmph, always soft on the pedal.

I hope to share more regarding my travels soon. Thanks,

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

I need some inputs from the Auto-Bots here. What do you do when you do not complete the car shutdown checklist and turn off the car via push start button?

For e.g, if I press the push start button to switch off the car and I haven't put the car in P before pressing the button, the screen doesn't go blank when I open the door (whereas it usually goes blank when the proper checklist has been followed (handbrake applied, windows shut, sunroof shut, gear in P).

I again have to switch the system ON (the car scanning starts in the MID) and press it again to switch it off. The screen goes blank when I open the door after this.

Though its not much of a bother, I find it pretty annoying. Would appreciate if someone has a workaround for this.

Firstly congratulations for the new car.

Change the music system settings to balanced or front.

Check tire pressure. During delivery they kept it at 44 for me. Had to reduce the pressure.

Try Fuelio app. It’s great.

I agree. No solution for the perfume part

Found the same behaviour. Infact if you dont press the start stop button again and try to lock the car from outside it gives a long beep like if one forgets the car key fob inside.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

I am trying to disable orvm auto unfold feature, but can't seem to get in to user settings.

The menu button cycles through three views for me, trip meter, navigation and TPMS. how do I get into user settings.

as suggested in some videos, I have put the gear in neutral with hand brake engaged and Ignition on.. but still i can't get the user settings menu.

@ Rigid Rotor - nice explanation and yes, it’s always irritating to read “break” instead of “brake” in this context or any other infraction of our forum rules.

For our Moderators to see or correct any post there is a “report post” option which we have to utilise to draw their attention to any “break” in our forum rules.
