Has anyone used petrol additives with the 1.0L turbo petrol model? Fuel pump salesman suggested it today and it got me wondering if anyone has had any positive experience with additives in small turbo petrols.

Apologies for delayed response. Turns out this is their goto workaround for everything. I reset everything. Checked out the fuses. Nothing worked.
Ended up calling my service agent, who recommended the same thing. Voila! In 10 min I got my sound back.

One quick question -
The Google map does not take up the full screen in Android Auto. The Android auto logo takes up 40% of the screen. This is a bit strange and it appears that there is no solution to this.
Has anyone found any workaround/solution to this? |
I have raised a complaint with KIA and it is pending with them for almost 2 months. Currently my AVNT has the below versions:
Vehicle Model - 2022
Software- QY22.IND.SOP.V041.001.240105
Firmware - QY.IND.301.220210.MICOM.D
Hello folks,
I've emissions control malfunction light ON on my Sonet DCT dashboard, is that concerning? Planning to visit the service station this weekend but wanted to get educated first and would appreciate if someone can share the costs involved to get this sorted.
Attached screenshot for reference.
Thank you!
I was excited to finally book a Sonet HTX in red. After weeks of going through all the options, test drives and scouring reviews we had booked on 27 Dec 2024. The process revealed some worrying trends about the state of service in Goa. I tried the Creta, Venue, Nexon, Elevate, Kiger and Kushaq. VW had brought the Virtus for the test drive instead of the Taigun - that was an enjoyable drive. However, they are yet to come back with the Taigun (2 months on). Honda guys never even called for a follow up. I had visited Toyota too but despite taking my details I never got a call to arrange a test drive. The Nexon test was a comedy. On too many occasions I would be at a junction and the accelerator wouldn't do anything! Not safe by any means. I don't know if it is because of lack of competition within brands or what but the sales teams in Goa were found to be very passive. Only Renault and Hyundai were proactive. Quite a contrast from what I experienced in Bangalore years ago.
I loved the quality feel of the Kushaq but we later decided that we didn't need that size. There were tempting discounts near Christmas but I didn't like the whole process of booking online. For me, something like a car has to be finalized in person. The Kiger only missed out due to the quality of the plastics. Otherwise it's a very good value option.
The lack of proper NCAP ratings for the Sonet was worrying though.
Anyways when we booked it we were told to expect delivery within 4 to 5 weeks. 6 weeks at the most. It is now over 2 months and we are still waiting because Kia doesn't have our colour in stock. It amazes me that this company doesn't manufacture based on variants ordered.
So the initial enthusiasm about the car has faded and I am losing faith in this brand. An email sent to the dealer 2 days ago still remains unanswered. Tempted to cancel and book elsewhere. Any one have any suggestions?

I would suggest you take a look at the Syros HTK+ DCT too, it's a much more spacious vehicle than the Sonet and is perhaps the most value-for-money option in the Syros Lineup.
Another option would be the new Nissan Magnite CVT, especially the top-end trims, which feel a tad better than the Kiger and is a value-for-money car. It gets up to 65k discounts on the MY 2024 models as well.
If you don't necessarily need an SUV (read raised hatchback) A Citroen C3 AT is fun to drive, a powerful car with 109 bhp and 205 Nm of torque, the top-end trim (Sine 1.2 Turbo Petrol AT) is under 10 lakhs ex-showroom and is good value for money. It gets benefits up to 1 lakh on the MY 2024 variants as well.
The Fronx Turbo Petrol AT Zeta variant is another good car which is fun to drive as well, the best-selling model of February 2024, the Fronx is essentially a raised Baleno, but this Boosterjet engine gives it a different character. It gets up to 63k discounts as well too.
Another option would be the XUV 3XO which has been doing great numbers recently and is a good car on all fronts besides the boot space. Do consider it.
Considering you loved the Kushaq, I am sure you would love the Kylaq too as it follows the Kushaq formula, is fun to drive and is a good car overall, it should be your ideal partner if Kia doesn't work out, the Signature Plus AT is priced at around 14.80 lakhs and should provide you with all features you need.
So my recommendation is you first try out the Kylaq and then check out the other options.
She is 5 months old, got her based on this review
Thanks for the extensive list of options. I had looked at the Kylaq but felt the rear passenger room wasn't great. I may check out the Mahindra and Magnite.
Also, I would rather stick with Sonet, but is it normal to have such delays? Have others faced such passive behaviour from dealers? I'm thinking that as it's a small state, they know there's no competition within the brand.

My initial booking for HTX iMT (which I had to cancel) was in Red. It took approx. 5 weeks for the car to arrive in showroom - this is for Delhi-NCR. Dealers always can track the status with Kia.
Red is a not so popular colour with Sonet - hence dealers do not stock up. It is almost always made in factory after booking is done.
Hey Sonet team... what do you all think about paint protection and underbody coating? Do you feel it's needed for Kias? Coastal areas make a difference?

Paint Protection: Don't waste your money on this unless it is a luxury car, you can repaint the entire car 7 or 8 years later for the same price.
Underbody Coating: Can make a difference if you live in coastal area. Get it done as soon as you buy the car, since that is when the underbody is at its cleanest, if not make sure to get the underbody thoroughly cleaned before doing it. Avoid rubber coatings, it can trap moisture inside and cause more rusting.
Hello
My Sonet D-AT is approaching its 70000 km service. Still on original tyres and disc brakes. So far, only faced 1 issue of evaporator coil leakage which the Service Center replaced under warranty (and somehow my fuel economy has increased post the replacement). EGR and intake manifold cleaned at 50000 kms under warranty, next up at 80000 kms (free of cost, and makes the ride and engine noise much more refined,
plus its highly recommended!!).
Is there any special thing I need to check out at this service? Not sure if the transmission oil, brake oil, coolant etc have been replaced ever. Plus any lookout for timing chain and other chains? Hope to get some good advice
Hello everyone,
I drive a Sonet turbo petrol imt GTX+ model from 2022.
Recently during a trip I noticed that the wireless charger stopped working. Later when I checked the dash camera, it too had stopped working after an hour or so into the trip.
After checking for sometime, I understood it just be a blown fuse. Later I checked online videos on how to check and replace the same. A 20A fuse for the charger was blown as expected. After replacing the fuse with the spare one, the wireless charger has started working. But unlike in old days, i can hear that the charging is interrupted in between, based on the sound from the phone. Also, i have stopped using the cigarette lighter charger which used to power the dash cam. Now i am connecting the dash cam directly to the USB charger and it works without any issues.
Does anyone know that might have caused the fuse to blow in this case?
I am yet to buy a new fuse. Once i get hold of the same, i will check if the car charger is working or not.
