Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

The updated Sonet, especially in the HTX trim, seems quite a well rounded package. The only thing that remains to be seen is the increment in price. I hope it's not too close to the top of the line GTX variant as it will dilute the VFM quotient of HTX trim.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

Apologies for the digression on the current round of discussion.

Can any GTX+ (variant with the 10.2 inch screen) owner or someone who has driven the car confirm whether the variant has Wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto? I've been given slightly conflicting information in this regard.

GTX plus doesn't have wireless Android Auto or Carplay. Only models with 8 inch screen have the same.

Quite the irony though, variants with wireless charging need cable for Android Auto and variants with wireless Android Auto need cable for charging. The need for a cable is omnipresent irrespective of the variant

Let's hope this changes with the coming update.

Thanks for the reply!

Agreed. Wireless AC/AA would increase the value that this car already provides.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

Going by the rumours I’ve never felt this outdated this early! Bought the car the moment it was launched and such a major update is way too soon. Well, KIA is going to kill all the competition without hesitation here, it’s sad and exciting! The only factor remaining is the price point, looks like HTK+ will be the equivalent of current HTX trim!

For 1L, I am talking about the addition of 'proper' automatics, i.e. DCT & TC.

I got this from the Kia Sonet WhatsApp group. Anyway, now the spec. list from the seemingly official broucher too have been leaked.

Now that we are well into the Summer, Sonet's first one, please can owners provide their feedback on effectiveness of the ventilated seats?

Hey,

It works really well in Mumbai's scorching heat. It's not really chilly on those areas but keeps me comfortable.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

Prices for the new updated variants now available. HTX D AT is good value and now upgraded with lot of features. Kia is really receptive to current market conditions and these updates will help boost its sales inspite of the covid situation.

The HTX D AT is now at a droolworthy price! The only let down might be unavailability of Bose sound system and the ventilated seats. Kia have really made life difficult for others by giving a proper TC and feature loaded variants at such attractive prices. If anyone is having a simplified new brochure, please share it here.

Just curious - isn't the D TC available only in VGT engine? HTX is mentioned under WGT

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

This post is w.r.to to the FE of Kia Sonet HTX imt.

My car is now 68 days old. Driven 1300KM. The major chunk of it was a trip to Madikeri and back covering 800KM.

I use it for my daily commute to office and back, and cover exactly 4.6KM each way. The road is with lots of speed breakers, and reasonable amount of traffic, so, it usually between 2 and 3 gear, and maybe in 4th gear for a short time.

So each time, I start the car, to FE on display start showing a value of around 4KM/L at 0.3KM and increases to around 8KM/K at around 1KM. Increases to around 12KM/L at 2KM, and to 14.5KM/K(sometime even 15KM/L) at 3KM. I have steep climb of 0.5KM thereafter, where the FE reading comes down to 12KM/K and by the time I reach the end at 4.6KM, the FE invariably reads around 13.5 KM/L. I feel this is very good FE, considering the short drives that I make.

Also, I have a suspicion that, the 3rd gear & 30-40KM/hr speed combination gives a higher FE than the 4th gear & 40-45/KM speed combination.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

Wow. Impressive. I was comparing the Sonet HTX 1.5D with the Ecosport Titanium Diesel variant. I think Sonet here makes a more better alternative at Rs50,000 more. See details below (pros and cons)
  • Slightly better fuel efficiency(24kmpl vs 21kmpl)
  • Slightly bigger engine(99bhp 240Nm vs 99bhp 215Nm)
  • 40lit extra boot space
  • 5mm extra width tyres and GC
  • Rear AC vents
  • Reverse camera with guidance
  • Cruise Control
  • Rear armrest
  • Ambient interior lightning, Automatic headlights, Dual cabin lights
  • Android Auto/CarPlay support
  • - No Traction Control
  • - No driver car
  • - No telematics
  • - No rear wiper
  • - No GPS navigation
