re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

Going a bit off topic (and maybe this has been discussed earlier but I didn't find it) - I viewed the Sonet reviews from OD, Zigwheels, MotorOctane & quite a few others. Everyone is understandably going ga-ga about the car. Hard to mask their excitement & happiness about driving it.

However - not one of them showed the sunroof in action (electronic opening etc). Why so? Was there some kind of agreement not to do so with KIA (due to pre-production car limitations) OR the other feature-list is so long that an aspirational item like the sunroof also couldn't make the cut in the review items?

Hi Reinhard,
It is really surprising that they missed it in most of the reviews.
In my video in which I shared earlier, I had captured the Sunroof closing from outside at 1:23 mark. You can check that out if it helps.

The Blind on the sunroof from Inside is manual , but when you open the glass it slides back along with it. But when the sunroof is closed, it does not close automatically and you need to manually slide it to close it.
This sunroof is supplied by Webasto to Kia (as confirmed by a friend of mine in Webasto).

There is one video from Evo India where the Sunroof is talked about, even though briefly.

But a good question nevertheless.

There are many videos on YouTube in general.

My doubt is specifically about the media drive reviews. Not one of them is showing it. That NEVER happens otherwise. So I'm suspecting there was a specific requirement to give it a miss.

re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

It will be interesting to see a comparison between the Sonet and the Ecosport diesels. Faisal Khan very categorically said that the both handling and ride quality was not great on the Sonet and dynamically the Ecosport remained the benchmark. Other reviewers said the ride quality was much better than Seltos.

Not sure how it really is. Real world user reviews will be the best indicator in the next few months.

re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

The handling may be better on the Ecosport, but it has an uncomfortable ride at slow city speeds, especially per-facelift. It is too stiff and every undulation is felt fully amplified in the cabin. This also causes many parts in the dash to rattle over time. At higher speeds, the Ecosport does flatten out nicely and is quite mature. So I am pretty sure the Sonet will be better in the ride department overall than the Ecosport.

BTW, Anyone know when the price announcement is happening today? Is Team BHP invited to the event?

The price announcement is at 12 noon today. I also can't find any live streaming link , but am following Autocar India on twitter where they are sharing updates.

re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

Kia has slowly but surely adapted to Indian culture. They were supposed to start the live streaming at 12 Noon but not only is it not started but there is no clue on when it will start! Way to go Kia!

Autocar- pricing of sonet.
Surprisingly GTX+ Diesel auto pricing is missing.
It should be 12.89 ex showroom considering the way manual and AT HTK+ are priced.

GTX+ pricing for DCT is also missing. Also, I did a quick check on Venue pricing for DCT. Sonet is going to be considerably pricey than Venue. Venue DCT SX+ is 11.5L ex showroom whereas if I extrapolate with same pricing difference of variants as iMT, Sonet GTX+ DCT costs 13L ex showroom.

re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

Don't get it.. The pricing for turbo petrol DCT and diesel AT in GTX+ is missing. Is the launch for these variants delayed further?
