He was hopeful of getting the vehicle delivered by end of month.

I let him know my decision and also told him that I'll be doing a PDI before the payment is done. Haven't heard back from him yet.

Just a brief on my booking, initially booked it with a SA, he left just after getting our booking, then was coordinating through another SA and now through another. Initial CPD was 27th March 2020.

Can you both please confirm you exact spec? Apparently, there is a delay in AT variants, not sure why.

P.S: They are still shipping the vehicle without infotainment systems as confirmed by my SA.

P.P.S: My CPD has been pushed back by 3 weeks from the initial promised date.

Yes, I don't think Mahindra is doing anything to help here. The dealers are having a game day with the orders.

Hi Kc93! When was your booking done and whats the initial CPD?

Absolutely, and on top of that the SA interaction has been a pathetic one. No follow-ups whatsoever.

I had called the SA earlier today and the showroom is apparently now open. Asked him to share the VIN details which he told he would by end of day( I'm not too hopeful him sending it).

Also, told him that I'd be doing a PDI before making any payment and he wanted to know what I'd be covering in the PDI! LOL!

My booking is for a LX AT Diesel HT Grey. The SA that I'm speaking with is saying that all the Thars are currently being shipped with an infotainment.
One of them is lying, not sure who!

Mods: Sorry for the back-to-back posts. Could you please merge it with the previous one.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

My booking is March 1st week (shouldn't have dillydallied through Feb in hindsight). No formal CPD has been communicated to ME, SA just said Aug 26th on the phone - No conversation with ASM as promised. This is Sireesh Hosur Road in BLR. This has been a truly atrocious car buying experience and I wouldn't stick with it if it weren't for the fact that the thar is a childhood dream car.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

I have booked the vehicle (Top end Petrol Auto Napoli Black) with Anant cars Bangalore on DECEMBER 2nd 2020 !! I am just reading that Dec bookings are getting deliveries and in the previous post Kc93 says March 1st week booking and CPD Aug 26th !!! (May I know which dealer please ?)

My sales guy is on WhatsApp and when I checked before this lockdown, he said my CPD was Aug 2021 !!! This is ridiculous....!! Attaching an excel sheet clip he sent me on WhatsApp.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

I guess the model influences the CPD, my booking is a Convertible which is supposed to have a shorter waitlist. Sireesh silk board as mentioned earlier

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Dear Thar owners,

I have a doubt!

Someone I know had booked a Thar LX MT HT version in Mystic Copper colour just after few days of its launch and he is willing to cancel it as he wants to upgrade to a higher segment car! Instead, we are willing to take that booking from him by getting that booking transferred to our name!

But, the problem is, as per the dealer, which is Automotive Manufacturers, told that we cannot change the colour to our preferred choice, i.e, Black, and wanted to change from MT to AT, which is our preferred version but dad is fine with MT as well!

Please help me with this!

Nobody can change the colour, if u insist on black colour then you will have to wait a long time. The only colour that are usually cancelled are the non-black ones.

Thanks for the inputs, sir!

I hope I can change the variant from MT to AT as we decided that our next cars should be an AT irrespective of body and size!

By this logic, I should be getting my vehicle earliest !! I don't think many people have opted for Petrol Automatic.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

All hardtops had longer waiting times than CTs when I was booking. However it's ludicrous that they're not allocating this significantly more transparently

Just a suggestion:
first confirm with dealer about transfering the booking. Then Have your friend contact Mahindra and ask for options to change booked model. If both responses are positive, then first have the model updated, and then proceed for transfer of booking.

Thar 2020 being in good demand, there should not be a problem finding another buyer - Mahindra can re-route the vehicle where there is a booking. If that can be done, the most likely point I see otherwise is a delay in delivering the new selection.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Guys I have a question. Anyone got a headliner installed?
I see Bimbra in delhi and Revheads in chandigarh post pics of headliners installed.

Wanted to know how are they installing it. Does it require the Hard top to be removed?
Or are they pasting it using some 3M tape or velcro?
I wouldn't want the HT to be removed as it might have leakage later. So any experiences here?

Thanks for your inputs, Sir!

We have decided to do a fresh booking rather than transferring that booking to our name!

Advantages of fresh booking is we can book it in the colour we desired for, i.e, Black and will be choosing LX AT HT as we've decided that the MT is not our cup of tea anymore and the car will be driven in the city traffic most of the time!

And, after booking the car, we might get the car as early as possible by using some contacts!

Per latest inputs from a dealer here in Bangalore, waiting period for CTs currently stands at 29-32 weeks and that for HTs at 45-48 weeks, with AT transmissions being on the higher side of delivery range compared to MTs!!! While this might shuffle a wee bit depending on possible cancellations down the line, does sound crazy to say the least.
