Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

You can excuse Mahindra for that. Most RTO offices have varying degrees of covid quarantine lockdowns with MVIs having been exposed to primary and secondary contact and in home quarantine. Many have their work pending and taking almost a month to clear a simple vehicle transfer file is not out of ordinary.

Damn the Chinese virus!

BTW, how about Maharashtra? Are all the models updated in the MH RTO database?

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Any news on the aftermarket Roof conversions for the 2020 Thar? I have booked a ST convertible but looking for an aftermarket solution to make it a Hardtop during the unforgiving summers. Also, awaiting some aftermarket solution for roof mounted carrier :-)

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Seems 20 inch alloys are so common, 22 inch wheels are in fashion now in Punjab! Three different Thars from Ludhiana based Velocity tyres -

They sure look good.

Here I was thinking to downgrade from 18' alloys to 16" steel wheels with better rubber. Different priorities

To be honest, I feel such low profile tyres spoil the look of the butch SUV, Thar is. It takes away the rugged character of the vehicle. But as we say, to each his own.

Thar with hefty tyres with lots of sidewall profile is what I would anyday vote for. Nonetheless, these are still lucky souls with Thars at their diaposal already, while I wait for the long waiting period to end.

You live in the heart of Jeep modification bazaar namely Moga and Dabwali, and ofcourse Karol Bagh Market, give sometime you will have many options.

For now you could check with Bimbra, if they have a timeline for your queries.

Holistically speaking what are the mods that you would classify as a Must have for the A.N.T ?

This would be my list in order of priority:

1) Front Arm Rest with Storage. Robustness is a must and access to Cup Holders and Handbrake shouldn't be a compromise.

2) Utility Storage space with Armrest and Bottle Holder for rear seat. The prototype design shared by Bimbra 4x4 looks great. The storage space needs to be more deep with much better fit and finish.

3) Front Grill with a metal Mesh Background to avoid the Silver radiator from making its ugly presence felt.

4) Limb Risers with minimal drilling on body

Pls keep adding based on your Requirement.

I hope the 4x4 garage owners are listening 🎧

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

I just received a phone call (a pre recorded robo call) apparently from Mahindra informing that about the upcoming price increase on the Thar starting December 1st. It also said that this won’t affect those who already booked. Anyone else get a similar call?

Oh really ! First, they underestimate demand , make people wait for long and now this ! I hope this isn’t true.

It’s been just 3 months since launch. And I’m not sure why the price should increase in the first place at all ?

With more than planned higher bookings already , they will have enough productivity , efficiency of machines and plants and with more volume based discounts from key suppliers. Wonder what’s the reason for a price increase. ?

I can't imagine the ride quality with those wheels!
IMHO, those wheels don't suit the Thar. But again, it's the owner's choice, I'm happy if they are happy.

For me, an off-roader like the Thar should have small rims + beefy tires.
Just received the below image from a friend, it's the 2020 Thar modified by Bimra4x4. Apparently, this is the Thar Serial No.1

Maybe for those who are on the fence, they will now think twice, looks like a gimmick to discourage cancellation.

Right on both counts. This is indeed Thar #1 modified by Bimbra 4*4. Here is a detailed video from 91 wheels -
