During the initial days of the launch, the sales team had no clue about all the features let alone how to use it. Most of them didn't know how to operate the rear washer, and they were telling the customers that only rear windshield wiper and defogger is provided in the car and no washer for rear wiper.

The best way to enjoy a test drive in Bangalore is to take it in Mysore :)
It has this URS STREET (Hope I got this right) where all the brands are present. The roads are wide n nice, traffic is less and staff are attentive, pleasant, plus knowledgeable.
So I test drove the Magnite here and found it the best AUTOMATIC. The gear box was really great and power, more than enough. Wish it did better numbers, though.

By any chance, did you feel that the CVT auto variant had obvious vibes? Especially in the seat at a standstill? Just wanted to cross check. I come from the OG Jazz and that thing doesn't even vibrate or make a sound when it's on. So I want to check if the feeling is because of my personal experience or if anyone else also felt it. I have driven other 3 cylinders too, and even then those priced at par or higher than the MAgnite had significantly fewer vibes I felt.

I did not feel any vibes anywhere. But yes, compared to Jazz, the engine hum can be heard slightly.

The BS6 Magnite I have (pre facelift) does have minor vibes at idle. It disappears completely on the move.
The minor vibrations I mention above are easy to miss - unless you look at the top of the seat - headrest area or the passenger seat's seatbelt buckle is lying touching the seat (and you have a rexin seat cover) adding a audible component to the vibrations.
I've had the second free service at 18158km. My driving had increased considerably since the work from office mandate.
I booked the second free service from the Nissan connect app. They followed up to check if I was visiting a day before the scheduled service date.
I went at around 9:40am and a service advisor was assigned.
I didn't have any complaints with the car and so there wasn't much to be done.
The actual service went as follows;
A technician was handed my job card and they brought with them all the necessary items that needed replacement.
The technician got the following items with him from the spares room
1. Oil filter
2. Air filter (i specifically asked for it to be replaced because it is a mere Rs. 600 and i don't want my turbo charged engine to have choked breathing because of old air intake filter. It is not part of their prepaid maintenance plan)
3. Cabin air filter
4. Distilled water
5. Engine oil 4 liters of 5W 30.

This is where I was irked because my engine takes 0W 20. It is clearly specified in the manual to use 0W 20 and only use other grades if 0W 20 is not available.
After some back and forth they showed me the internal service bulletin that stated that the part numbers for 2 different grades of oils were henceforth going to be replaced with single grade of oil. This means that both the turbo and non turbo would use 5W 30 at all Nissan service centers going forward.
The user manual states clearly
Turbo engine - 0W 20.
Non turbo engine - 10W 30
From January 27th 2025 onwards all Nissan service centers would only be using 5W 30 for both engines. This new oil is fully synthetic (but apparently cheaper than 0W 20 grade).
I was extremely worried with how Nissan decided to change the oil grades for regular service despite the user manual clearly stating that it should use the thinner 0W 20 oil.
I conveyed my worry to the service advisor and also spoke to the manager in charge of the service station. Everyone clearly says this is what Nissan has decided to do. And there's nothing to worry.
My concern is that it's a turbocharged engine and it needs the oil to flow faster and immediately to cool the turbo. Wouldn't a thicker grade of oil cause over heating of turbo. Upon reading about this across various forums I came to understand that for our temperature the thicker oil is fine. We should only be worried about oil viscosity if we're in very cold climates.
The service center folk did mention that there would be no impact to warranty because Nissan themselves are making this change. But the effects of a slightly thicker oil don't really manifest themselves during the warranty period. A slight increase in wear because oil can't flow fast enough across various oil galleys and channels within engine would cause wear that would show it's effects long after the warranty ends.
This would also increase fuel consumption as I understand.
Can someone throw some light on the downsides of using thicker oil as compared to the recommended 0W 20 oil.
Ultimately, I resigned to the fact that they'd just put 5W 30 and let them continue on with the service.
The car was raised up on hydraulic lift and old oil was drained and old filter removed.

While placing the new filter, I noticed that the technician threw away the new rubber seal that came with the new filter in the box. I asked him why he didn't put the new rubber seal ring that came with the new filter and he started to explain that it didn't matter. I told him to use it. Another technician came over and tried to smooth things over by saying that the new kid doesn't know anything and probably threw it away by accident. I was visibly pissed at this point.
And when he started to put the rubber ring without lubricating it, I completely lost my patience.
Essentially, what I've come to know is that there is no attention to detail whatsoever at these service stations. The quality of work is entirely at the mercy of the technician that's doing the job at that time.
Moving on you the other things in service, they over filled the coolant and brake fluid again. I didn't bother telling them this time because I intended to remove the excess myself after I came home!
Mind you, the coolant reservoir and brake fluid reservoir were already over filled from the free inspection back in December. And on top of it, they filled the fluids again!
Then the air intake filter was replaced. While placing the new filter, I had to ask the technician to actually clean the housing before placing the new filter:Frustrati

Then they replaced the cabin air filter.

Subsequently they rotated the wheels. While removing the wheel, they managed to break the Nissan logo at the center of the wheel. So I had to buy a replacement logo.
The technician didn't even bother to check how the brakes were or if brake pads needed changing.
They checked when I asked them
I seem to have about 4mm to 5mm of pad material left still. Which would be about 4000km.
After the wheels were rotated, they had to re program the TPMS sensor positions. Which they didn't do. When I asked them, they said it happens automatically. So i asked them to remove air from one tire and sure enough the instrument cluster showed puncture on the wrong tire. rl:
They brought in some Nissan technical lead and he was stumped as to why the tpms positions needed reprogramming. Apparently when the service is completed and the service reminder is cleared from the instrument cluster, they were also supposed to clear and reprogram tpms sensors. Which they didn't do. The Nissan technical lead said he'd escalate this and put it as part of their standard operating procedure.
Essentially, I felt like I had to oversee everything and none of the activities they were doing gave me any confidence in their abilities.
I had originally intended to get the CVT fluid replaced during this service, but looking at their incompetence, I would not trust them to do it right because there's a a proper procedure to follow for this.
I'll be checking with that Nissan technical lead and see if they actually have a workshop manual for CVT fluid replacement.
Everyone in the service center says they never had to do it for Micra or sunny and they've seen those micras running over a lakh kilometres. This doesn't mean the CVT fluid has not degraded. It's only a matter of time before the CVT might give up.
I'll post the costs for the CVT fluid replacement once I'm confident that they can actually do the job right. I'll need to pay them another visit.
Hi Folks, which is the nearest Nissan Magnite service center in OMR . Iam getting varied results on Google, hence checking.
Recently took TD of Magnite CVT & AMT. Sharing experiences in the hope that it will help fellow BHPians.
Disclaimer - there may be some bias as I come from an Amaze CVT.
Plusses:
Stylish Looks: Magnite truly is a sight to behold. While this is definitely subjective, I can't find and ange from which it could look better.
Killer Price: The base model is Rs. 7.5 L OTR NCR. This overlaps with lower segment cars like segment leaders WagonR. I dont think there is any other car in our market which brings this level of Value For Money.
CVT- X-Tronic CVT transmission comes from Nissan. This is so much better that the AMT. Minimal rubber band effect, smooth. Perfect for city driving. I still feel that Honda CVTs are smoother though.
Decent Suspension: Absorbs bumps and jolts comfortable. Interestingly didnt hear the suspension working.
Sound Insulation: This is a distinct positive. With windows up/doors closed outside cacophany instantly reduces.
Yards of Storage: Plenty rear cabin space. Again must be looked at in perspective of the cost.
Seat comfort- I prefer harder seats vs plush 'sink-in'. Met expectations. The H point of both rear & front seats as well as bolstering was perfect. Looks like a long-drive friendly configuration.
Handling: Met expectations.
Minuses:
Horn- sound- somethings off! Placement of the pressure pad was not convenient.
Ergonomics- Gear lever , push-start button, armrest don't fall naturally within the arc of movement.
Steering- Initially felt tad too light. However tightens up with speed.
Braking- Not strong enough. Braking distance was more than expected
AMT- Unresponsive & poorly executed. Nissan has clearly cut corners here . Or is this transmission from Renault? Full stop. Prominent head nod. Drivers will need a major learning curve. Maruti AGS is so much better.
NA Engine: Unrefined, prominent shake on start up. Clatter is evident & irritating. Pull is adequate for city drives.
I would strongly urge folks to at least try this car out before going for a hatch /premium hatch /cross over.
On a separate note, the dealership was excellent. Vertex at Sector 14 Gurugram. Ambience, staff alertness, welcoming, proactiveness, knowledge and maturity. This experience was on par with Nexa and quite unexpected. I had walked in expecting (again possible bias) listless disinterested sales persons and was happy to be proved wrong.
To summarise- this car brings more car for your buck. The facelift irons out many of the previous gaps. Its now a wholesome & mature package. definitely worth evaluating.
Best wishes to prospective Magniters or Magnitos.
Agree with all CVT observations.
That reminds me that I haven't ever written a review of this car - though I wanted to. Allow me to jot down my thoughts after 2 years and over 22k KMs with it.
So here are 14 positives and 14 negatives about the Magnite:
Pluses (in no particular order):
1. Great looks - Imo they made it worse from the front with the new update though.
2. Agree, the sound insulation is acceptably good (for a 3 pot motor) - though a step down from something like the XL6's NA engine at low speeds - say under 25kmph. As the speeds increase, 30-80 the insulation keeps up (and is probably a tiny bit better than the XL6) and wind noise is non existent - though the CEAT SecuraDrive tyres slowly begin to make their presence felt. This is evident on worse road surfaces, like concrete. On better tarmac, IIRC the car stays silent till 80-85 (including minimal to no tyre noise). At about 90kmph the wind noise can slowly begin to be heard. and can be heard distinctly by about 120kmph. On moist good-tarmac roads like some sections of the Mysore-Mangalore road the car is parctically noiseless at 40-70 kmph, almost no wind/engine/road noise.
3. I can also notice the good seats - I have driven over 22k Kms on it over the last 2 years, including quite a few longer drives (Bangalore-Hyderabad, Bangalore-Mangalore) and have spent multiple hours behind the seat without a break (sometimes 5hr+ due to circumstances) - and the seats hold up really well in terms of comfort for longer drives. My eyes can sometimes feel tired, but never had a posture related issue with it all this while.
4. Big fan of the lovely mechanical turning knobs for the fan speed, AC temperature and air circulation modes. The idiotic touchscreen trend for these basic functions needs to die.
Other wonderful things include
5. Pricing vs other similarly capable cars
6. 360 camera (wont ever buy another car without it - I can park in tiny spots with so much ease+confidence),
7. Wireless Android Auto
8. The LED headlight is also very good at night (unless it rains).
9. 12V sockets at both front and back.
10. Rear passenger armrest with cupholders.
11. Exceptionally good ground clearance and plenty of tyre sidewalls to take accidental high speed pothole hits. I have hit some 2-3 particularly nasty potholes in highways after sunset at speeds of 60-90 and heard really loud thud/clanks (so I guess the suspension bottomed out and maybe even the alloys got hit after utilising all of the sidewall cushioning?) - nothing has happened to the car or the tyres or the wheel. Such a great feeling. This is as good as a go-anywhere car comes in 2WD form.
12. Traction control and ESP (branded VDS) - Early on in my driving career I made a few mistakes that got me into trouble with me having to suddenly drop 1-2 tyres of a side into the gravel at relatively high speeds (think 70+) and also needing braking. While I never saw the TCS bulb light up (because I couldn't have been looking at it anyways) I distinctly felt something changing wrt power/grip/wobble on the car, and I assume it was the TCS/ESP/ABS combo saving my skin. Very thankful to have never lost control of the car or get into a spin. Good to have a 4 star crash rated car - even better to have a car which would save me from needing to rely on the 4 stars.
13. Plenty of power to finish overtakes early and quickly with least amount of drama. Sport mode works really well for low-speed overtake up a hill, but is not needed most of the time. Smooth, fuss free CVT - minimal to no rubber band effect.
14. Has a dedicated L mode for high engine-braking. Its so good that I dont use it - too much engine braking for any of my regular needs including the ghats.
Minuses (again, in no particular order):
1. With time the car develops minor rattles from some places - my service centres have been useless in fixing them.
2. Cant pause spotify from the steering wheel - seriously?
3. Fog lamps (4W each) are useless - and non standard shape so hard to find anything to plug-and-play replace them.
4. LED headlamps are useless when it rains (or the road is wet even when its not raining). They are also a sealed unit, so no bulb-only replacement in case of damage.
5. The factory supplied wipers are noisy squealers (Replaced them with a Bosch frameless).
6. Rear Ac vent direction knobs are not easy to swivel sideways - people liable to try and poke at them tending to break it.
7. No Auto door unlock or powered mirrors retraction on engine off. No boot open button inside the car.
8. Indicators for lock and unlock are backwards - lock is 2 blinks, and unlock is 1.
9. Fuel cap (the one on the car body, not the plastic screw-type cay under it) has a metal spring near the hinge thats tends to get loose springiness and disable the pop-up action on pulling the lever - fixed by a gentle massage, but it could be better designed.
10. No heat/IR cut glasses. Its not 100% transparent, but whatever it has is clearly not good enough - say compared the Maruti cars.
11. I have now gotten used to them, but on the first few drives I felt the brakes had less of a bite early on in the press compared to, say an i10. The final braking effect (full-press) felt similar and the car stops nicely and without any drama, but the Magnite clearly had much less bite early. This now works for me because I can be very smooth with the breaks - but definitely had a learning curve.
12. Fit/finish could be better (though this seems to have been a major focus with the facelift that i haven't checked out)
13. The armrest is useless. Luckily I sit with the seats high so my lower thighs are able to support my wrists (I also use a unorthodox grip on the steering wheel with both hands near the bottom - most of the time within the highways or uncrowded roads so that helps too). It doesn't have storage space underneath the armrest either.
14. The horn placement could definitely be better - although with time it becomes less hard to click and i can use it without complaints (I mean as long as I can do my short single, double and triple chirps I am happy with the working)

Good inputs. A few questions:
1. What's your mileage- plains /city/hills
2. What is average paid service cost

1. City-only (short, 7km each way to office and back) stands at 10-10.5kmpl. Morning sees heavy traffic (30-35 mins for 7km), evening mostly negligible traffic (16-20mins for the same 7km). AC always on at 24C, I wait for nearly 1 min at most shutdowns to let the turbo cool down.
2. Plains/hw: Best ever of ~27kmpl - probably assisted by gravity (ie must have been mildly downhill) seen over about 80kms. I was driving gently to check for maximum mileage at this point. Unfortunaltely dont have any other pains/hw-only measurements as far as I can see.
3. Mixed: From Mangalore to Bangalore (includes driving up the ghats): ~14.5kmpl. AC on at 24C with 1 rear window down (open)
I dont drive with any specific intent of increasing mileage. All numbers are measured tank-to-tank and logged on the fuelio app for statistics.
My all-time average stands at 12.1kmpl.

Non-turbo variant here too. 16-18 kmpl seems to be my average too, when I look at total trip average from road trips. But have extracted better on some stretches. For example I had tested "full tank method" in the Bangalore to Thrissur stretch, without city traffic, and got 24+kmpl. Trip average from Nagpur to Thrissur(1500+ kilometers) was 21 kmpl.
