Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Hello!

I had booked the Safari XZA+ on 18th of March. As the lockdown clouds starting gathering, we kept the booking on hold. We resumed the loan process mid May and the car arrived in the stockyard yesterday. I drove down today and did a thorough check with the team-bhp PDI list to avoid any regrets. The odo read 9km. Also, spot the number of Safaris in the wide shot. Attaching some pictures from the yard

Congratulations, while you car looks great, can't resist looking at the W124 and W114 probably. Seem to be gathering dust since long.

Looks amazing in blue! Congratulations!

Can you share which dealer you booked with and your experience with the dealership so far? Given that this is a known Achilles heel with Tata Motors, some recommendations or experiences would be good to know.

Congrats on the new wheels. How did you manage to get that discount?? I've not heard of any offers from my dealer when i spoke to him a few minutes ago. In face he was harping on the recent price increase and (earlier) how he has 'protected' me from that increase. So please do tell!

Thank you!

I have booked the car from Puneet - Prabhadevi. The experience has been good. The SA has been following up and giving me timely updates. I would say that I’m satisfied, as of now 🤞🏼

Haha yes! I did notice those but didn’t bother asking anything about it, mind was stuck on my spanking new ride

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

I was going through the Tata Motors Safari website and I realised that only the top trim (XZ variants) has all white seats. The lower variants have dark (black?) seats. I wasn't aware of this. Not sure if I missed this in the review.

It would be great if some owners of the non XZ trims could share their opinion or view on this. It looks quite ok in the pictures online and would be much easier to maintain.

Would be also interested in hearing from the XZ variant owners on their experiences of maintaining the all white seats

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Ownership update:

i had booked my Tata Safari XZA+ Adventure Persona on 5th April at Surya Automobiles Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh due to difference in registration prices between delhi and Himachal. I got a call from SA on 10th May that car has been allocated to me, however it took them 1 month to get the car from plant to the showroom, experience of which i have already shared multiple times so will skip that part
Since i live in Delhi which means after taking the delivery i had to drive for 500 kms to reach home and since i was driving this big a car for the first time, i was bit nervous at start but after 10 kms i was at ease, car was that easy to drive.

Delivery Experience

I don't know whether it was because of too many deliveries on the same day or any other reason, but i didn't feel like that i was getting the delivery. Car was lying in stockyard when i reached, ribbons were applied in front of me. but i must say my SA was quite helpful and helped me with everything. I reached showroom around 10 and left showroom around 2 PM. I would rate 5 out of 10 for delivery experience.

Issues and Niggles (bound to happen)

1. Car have minor dent in the front (Bonnet line). not visible to the naked eye and you have to focus on it to view it. Higlighted this to SA and they said sir might have happened during transit. Their GM said you can take it to service center and they will rectify it.

2. After taking the delivery and driving only 10 kms, car started showing error message and drive modes were not working. Also pick up also dropped. Immediately called the showroom and they sent the van to check and after checking, they said it's because of carbon and it is common in all BSVI cars. They took me back to the showroom, connected laptop and kept revving the engine for around 20 to 25 minutes and after that car was fine. No issues after that.

Driving experience (500 km done)

1. Fun to drive, as i am coming from ecosport, never felt the lack of power even in city mode and sport mode is crazy so mostly my drive will be city mode and sometimes in sport mode.

2. Automatic gearbox is quite good. Never felt that engine is under stress at any given time.

3. Handling at high speed is good but bit light as compared to my ecosport. Also, at low speeds steering is to heavy and makes it difficult to park. i think i will get used to it but till then it will be a task to park the car at tight parking spots.

4. I liked the suspension setup and did not feel much inside the car.

Accessories (I got mats from showroom as complimentary but i did not like them)

1. Planning to get 7D Mats as i do not want to dismantle my car for 9D Mats. Also mud flaps.

2. PPF and ceramic on glass- I have already given my car for PPF and will be getting it either today or tomorrow morning. Will share pictures once the process is done.

3. Dash cam front and back.

Attaching some pictures

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Car Delivery and accessories report

After prolonged delay due to lockdown, finally got a call from SA that car has reached dealer yard. Within four days , the car reached showroom where I did the PDI as per TEAM BHP PDI CHECK LIST. After satisfactory PDI, did the balance payment through my bank ( the loan amount).

I had opted for self insurance. While getting the insurance quote , I realised that the IDV declared by Universal sompo was much less (approximately 14.95 lakh) than the Ex Showroom price . . Showing two third of car value in the first year was a complete deal breaker for me .
Then I enquired with another insurance provider who provided same comprehensive package at competitive rate with IDV of 20.40 lakh, much to my relief.
The remaining procedure with respect to RTO , was surprisingly hassles free. Within two days , got the message from RTO that vehicle number had been allotted.

Got the following accessories from the dealership

1) Door visor with chrome -5000/-

2) Side Step with Fitting -19989 /-

3) Scuff plate -2000/-

4) Rear Bumper Chrome plate -2900/-

5) Dummy Exhaust Chrome -1800/-

6) Mud Flap - 1050/-

Total Accessories cost - 32,739/-

Got some discount after bargaining

Delivery experience was pleasant. Papers were ready and the vehicle was cleaned and kept ready. Even the number plates were installed. However I was given only one automatic key and one emergency manual key. Semiconductor shortages was the reason given

Side step

On the very next day , I took the car for Ceramic Coating at a car detailer at Thane . He has been strongly recommended on Team BHP platform . I even got Anti Rust coating done for the underbelly and Engine PU coating.
The cost is
Ceramic coating : 30000 Rs
Anti rust coating 4500 Rs
Seven D Mats ( beige) 6800 Rs.

I purposely chose beige as I thought black would make the interior claustrophobic.

Initial driving experience.
I have experience with Dsire automatic. But found the engine of Safari way better tuned and powerful . Drove the Safari in torrential Bombay rains and in bumper to bumper traffic. The car drives firmly and NVH levels are really acceptable. The Auto hold function works like a God sent Gift in the heavy traffic. Many have commented about heavy steering, but personally I did not find any issues.

All n all, Im really excited and itching to go for a long drive with this beauty.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Hello NitSat.

Congratulations on the new ride. It looks dashing. Wishing you many many happy miles.

Quick Question: Any idea if you will receive the second key?

Can anyone help me with the best insurance price? I'm waiting for the delivery of my XZA+ adventure in Coimbatore.

Regards.

When taking delivery of my XZA+, i was told that it will take couple of months and you can collect the same from the service center during 1st service. Also for insurance, i have insured my vehicle from Hdfc at a premium of 73k which includes Zero dep, Rti, consumables and emergency assist cover. Policy baazar have only govt companies which i dont want to gamble with.

Thanks Big_Turbo. My SA has no idea when the second automatic key will be available. I have been following up. Will escalate after a couple of weeks, if no positive response.

I got my comprehensive zero dep insurance from Bajaj Alliance for 73900 rs.

I find it hilarious that majority of the owners have accepted the fact that TATA cars will have issues and welcome it like they bought it as a feature.

You're spending north of 20+ Lakhs of your hard earned money and putting it on something that not only depreciates in value but doesn't provide a peace of mind.

And it's not an ultra rare or a sports car from a brand that sells 150 units a year but a mass market car.

We need to stop normalizing this and corner out manufactures.
