If I am not wrong the XMA also doesn't have the touchscreen infotainment unit seen on the top trim. This has been the source of many complaints and constant niggles. That's another one in favour of XMA.
Sharing pics of the interiors. Interior is grey, fabric. In two minds whether to go for Art leather or try to maintain fabric itself.

The infotainment is touch only, but the display size is smaller. XMA doesnt have rear camera option and the rear camera display cannot be integrated into the HU. I am going with the genuine TATA accessories of front camera, front sensors and rear camera with display on IRVM. Once it is installed I'll share the pictures.
I always try to buy the most basic variant and customise the car to my taste. That way, my car will be unique and enhances my ownership pride. XMA has only two airbags, but I don think TATA has cut corners on the safety in comparison with other variants.

Innocent query (actually OCD trigger) - on first glance it strikes me that the "safari" lettering in the back is not quite in a straight line. Maybe it's an optical illusion or lens distortion from the camera. Can you check closely whether it's indeed perfectly straight (all you need a piece of thread) ?

How about Porsche’s very own Carmine Red on the Safari? Safari GTS seen here with adjustable dampers to lower the ride height for a more sporty ride. Definitely looks drool-worthy!!

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Hi,
I did a Test drive of Both Tata Safari and Tata Harrier. I was blown away by their performance , killer looks and ample space.
However i felt that in Middle row seat , Safari had more body role as compared with Harrier and also the uneven roads and potholes were felt more in Safari than Harrier. Am i correct in my assessment ?

Definitely looks dope.
I remember, someone had made a similar modification to Harrier, with Carmine Red paint job. And this was noticed by TML , I suppose. Because soon Harrier was launched in dual tone colours , with Carmine Red and Black combo.
So , can we expect the facelift version of Safari, in this combination?

Just one query. Will height reduction, further compromise the GC , which I feel , is just adequate, at this point of time.

Yes the lower ride height will lower the GC as well but I believe if installed it should be used only when out on the highway. For city usage the normal ride height is sufficient.

That difference in ride quality between the Harrier and Safari could be down to the difference in the rim size where Harrier gets 17 inchers and the Safari 18 inchers. There is a 12mm difference in sidewall height between the Harrier and Safari, Harrier having 12mm more sidewall.

OR

There also could’ve been a difference in the tyre pressures between the two.

Delivery was smooth and was done within an hour. There was the price protection and the invoice was for 21.47 Lakhs against the list price of 21.81 Lakhs.

Dealer matched the quotes on insurance I got outside, 70K with all the bells and whistles. Added the Mud Flaps and the mats as accessories.

Have drive ~300 KMs so far (City, highway as well as rain). I moved from a 2015 XUV500 W6 AT. My observations below :-

- Interiors feel premium compared to XUV500 and on par with some of the cars (All Dodge - 2012 Charger, 2014 Durango and 2015 Challenger) I owned in the US.
- Refined NVH . Night and day difference between the XUV 500 and the Safari.
- Steering Sensitivity at high speeds is indeed an issue. Have seen a few posts on this and a friend who drove my car also complained about is. Not sure if anything can be done for this
- Front left door takes a lot of effort to close. Suspect it could be the beading, will have it checked during the first service.

To summarize, highly satisfied with the purchase. The longest I have waited for any car.

Congratulations!! Btw, I tailed your car for a while in Pondy (kamaraj salai road) for a couple of signals before taking a right turn at one of the signals, we were there last week. I remember this very vividly because of your registration number, 0101! :-)

The problem with the hard closing on the front left door is present in my car too, definitely needs more effort closing/locking compared to the other doors.

On steering sensitivity, It does take an effort with the steering to maneuver around tight spots at crawl speeds but I honestly did not feel any issues because of a light steering on the expressway. I was on cruise between 100-110 mostly. It handled pretty well for me.

It was between the Sunway and Raja Theater Signal . I noticed you behind me . My little one was super excited to see the same colored car and was curious how it happened as the dealer mentioned that mine was the first Adventure Persona delivery in Pondy . What are the odds ?

It was at higher speeds than that . Maybe I need to get used to it .

This is the step up roof the earlier generation Safari was known for. The one with the sunroof had a fake step up roof rail as they can’t replicate it with the glass. You should be able find several media houses refer to this in their auto reviews.

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

I am in a peculiar situation. I took insurance from TATA AIG last week on my new Safari, via PolicyBazaar. I forwarded the policy document to the dealer for RTO registration. The RC book now says that my insurance is from Future Generali!

Dealer says they have uploaded the details/document I gave and tdon't know how this happened. They said the insurance company will have the answers. Apparently, RTO servers talk to insurance companies and the dealer has no say, if there is a mistake. TATA AIG says they have no connection with Future (seems obvious) and any claim, TATA AIG will process.

I need advice here.

1) How to get this rectified? Where to start?
2) If left as is, will this bite me back in the future? What are the repercussions?

If this is not a big deal, I will not expend inordinate energies in getting into this rabbit hole.

Thank you.

Well before anything else - the one thing that I noticed is - they are actually reporting the "SPRESSO" in this list. I mean the sub4m cars already are mooning at the term SUV to begin with. Spresso entry is really mockery!

About time we stop reading these statistics now .

Re: 2021 Tata Safari Review

Where in the RC card is this listed? Since we will have to keep renewing every year and can cross shop, I don't think this should be an issue.

I knew this would happen one day (reporting spresso under SUV category). I was so upset with them calling it an SUV during launch that i lamented about this in medium.com last year https://medium.com/@devanand_15121/i...s-2020c09c2121 .
