Me and Ambust were having this annoying issue almost at the same time
Main culprit in my view is the Infotainment screen/ display unit
For me, even after replacing the control unit issue kept recurring
Only after the display unit was changed it was Ok (hopefully)
You need to convince the dealer that all other fixes are already tried, and so ask them to raise claim for unit replacement with video evidence
Make sure to capture the VIN number in the same video |
Thank you both for sharing! Super appreciate it. Can you share your dealer name too that helped you with a fix- I want to give them as many references as possible.

KUN Skoda Chennai OMR - but I can tell you it wasn't easy :)
Is any BHPian aware of the next Octavia India launch. I remember reading somewhere that it might not be before 2025-end, when the New Octavia hits our shores.
If any BHPian is aware of the development please share.
On Monday, my cousin drove his petrol Octavia from Bangalore to Chennai. While stuck in slow-moving traffic near Sriperumpudur, the car displayed an error message: "Transmission temperature high, Stop safely." Although he reached his destination safely, encountered the same issue the next day in slow traffic near the Madhyakailash junction, during which the car also vibrated. The error seems to disappear at normal driving speeds.
Advised him to perform an OBD scan and check all lubricant levels. After conducting these checks at a local garage, the mechanic discovered that the ambient temperature sensor was disconnected and recommended fixing it at the service center. Suggested him to manage by driving during non-peak hours and visit the service center once he returns to Bangalore. Can anyone provide more insight into this issue please?
Some pictures of a mammoth luggage packing & placement exercise. The practicality never ceases to delight me despite the three years of ownership.
Long stuff including a box and a medium sized keyboard (with the left seat flipped down)
Rearranged with keyboard on the parcel shelf and a placeholder for the last lot of bags
Final stash totalling more than 10 pieces with the parcel shelf in place

Dear Fellow Octavians,
My 2022 Octavia wouldn't turn on after ~10 days of idle parking. This happened mid-Nov, couple of months after the 2nd service (mid-Sept).
When I got it jumped, bunch of errors popped up which disappeared after 15min of idling and driving ~100m.
I got it checked at the ASC where the battery was tested and the report was "good" (nothing else was checked).
I was advised to drive on and keep starting the car every couple of days.
Earlier, even when starting the car after couple of weeks, I didn't face any such issues.
Also, I noticed cold starts after ~5 days are causing discomforting vibrations(whole car shakes) which settle down after 15-20 sec.
Car runs smooth after this.
The vibrations don't occur when the cold starts are done within 2/3 days.
I tested voltages at battery terminals using a multimeter at home and observed:
11.42V - engine off, ignition off
12.08V - engine running, lights off, AC off, infotainment off
ASC service engineer assured me that voltages are acceptable (but I still have my doubts).
From what I could gather online, 13.5 - 14.5 V when running and 12 - 12.6 V when off are ideal ranges.
I could not find any info specific to Octavia MK4/2022 wanted to check with you all on your experiences and seek guidance.
New shoes for Christmas

Healthy charging current in 2.0 TSI is 13V & above.
You are at bare margin.
Also, resting volts must not be less than 11.4V - vehicle is complex with lots of electrical activities going on everytime, even at rest - it will go haywire with errors popping in & out.
I advise you to run your car every alternate day for 7-10 KMs atleast to keep it healthy - daily is always better.
Don't keep it undriven for long - again & again.

I don't see how ambient temperature can affect the transmission oil temps to read incorrectly. To me it looks like an oil pressure pump / thermostat failure for the transmission. Need to visit ASC and get it scanned immediately. Do not drive the car, using a flat bed is the best option for your cousin.

Yes they are Continental PC 6 but not the same size as stock. Upgraded alloys to 18 inch Skoda Propus Aero alloys with 235,45 R18 tyres.

Another pic of the tyres and alloys.

At least some of you may have been following my posts on the infotainment audio issues with random vol spikes and front parking sensor issues I had been facing. I wanted to wait a bit before I post here with outcomes. And big thank you Ambust and Mah45 for the detailed inputs to help me out.
As some of you shared here previously, getting a replacement unit for the infotainment isnt an easy process and a request to replace the unit was refused basis consulting with Skoda technical team. But as Skoda rightly ( I think so for now :D) points out, they needed to identify the core issue before they swap out units. Long story short, my car was with the service center for a month and went through extensive testing of both the parking sensors and the infotainment unit and went through multiple software updates. Skoda was practically testing out a solution than actually knowing the solution. Eventually, they pushed out a software update version 1985 and that resolved all issues. This isnt openly available in the India market as yet ( I think the current version that every car is getting is 1965) and had to be provided by skoda technical team . The ASC reported the parking issue also appearing in some other Octys and even a few superbs. So its frustrating that Skoda isnt proactively acknowledging and giving software updates to owners and still performing a trial and error when issues crop up.
I do have to say, the EVM service center in Kochi continues to deliver excellent support and was patient in the entire process in coordinating with Skoda and myself. They also gave a loaner Kushaq for the duration the car was in the service center, so that eased the pain a bit. its been a few weeks we have taken the car from the ASC and driving around and everything runs smooth!:Cheering:
Hopefully this post is helpful if any of our fellow owners run into similar issues in the future. Also if your car isnt running the 1965 version of software or something newer, recommend getting it updated during your next visit. Ideally push for the 1985 which is the latest and already available in some EU markets.

Looks stunning! I saw your car at Tyre Empire, and what caught my attention was the black spoiler.
How’s the ride quality with the 18s and how were you able to source the OEM alloys?

Oh yes I remember talking to you.
It's stiffer compared to stock, however overall road grip and body roll especially while cornering at high speeds has significantly improved. Likewise braking performance has also drastically improved.
Purchased it from a person who had listed it for sale on FB.
