Re: Hyundai Alcazar Review

I finally got the test drive of turbo petrol DCT variant yesterday. Trident dealership has a Turbo Variant for TD now. It was a short drive of about 10 Kms around Whitefield area in BLR in a mix of traffic. We were 3 people in the vehicle. Few things that I was able to instantly relate to

- Engine refinement and the sound insulation inside. The cabin was so silent barring the soothing sound of turbo kicking in post 1.5-2K RPM.
- I didn't feel any jerks at lower RPMs contrary to what I thought. But there is a small lag, but nothing to be wary about. You have loads of power after turbo kicks in.
- I had done the TD of Verna turbo in the same route few weeks back. Alcazar turbo never felt underpowered in comparison and I felt the power is delivered in a linear fashion. In Verna you really feel the turbo and the surge kicking in, not so much in Alcazar maybe cos of increased weight. I feel this would be good while cruising as no sudden jerks means more comfortable drive for passengers
- Felt excellent road grip and braking.
- Very effective cooling.
- Ease of maneuvering on narrow roads and heavy traffic, good overall visibility.

Re: Hyundai Alcazar Review

How is Alcazar's resale value as it isn't a popular car? Any idea that how the dynamics of online dealers work when the demand of a particular model is not that high?

From what I've seen, resale value primarily depends on a brand and not model. If a brand is known to have issues like poor reliability/high spare part cost/low number of dealers etc, then most models under the brand will have no resale value.

If sales of a particular new model (like Alcazar) is not that high, it means 5 years down the line, the supply of this particular model in the used car market will not be high either. So if somebody is looking for a reliable premium 7 seater for 12L or 15L in used car market and Alcazar is in his shortlist, he will pay.

Got my Alcazar 1.5 DCT on the 18th of June. This is the first Hyundai in the family, and we all love it. I noticed this noise from the center console a few days back and am really disappointed. After shelling almost 24L, we expect superior quality plastics. Hyundai should have taken care of this problem.

Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to fix the noise as it's very irritating? Or do we have to live with it?

How is the performance on highways? Especially ability to pull from 80 or 90 speeds to overtake? My test drive was limited to the city and found it adequate.

Performance is superb. Alcazar has 3 drive modes. Comfort, Eco and Sports.

Did Delhi to Lansdown last weekend with 4 members. Honestly, I never felt the need to change to Sports mode as Comfort mode gives you enough power to overtake. Am impressed with the performance.

However, on big potholes, the car makes a loud noise, maybe from the suspension or from the chamber. Had to get off to check for any damage. You have to drive really slow through big potholes.

Re: Hyundai Alcazar Review

There is news about creta facelift maybe by mid of next year but I have not heard anything about Alcazar facelift with ADAS features. Any idea about such facelift for Alcazar?

Also, I have seen few video reviews where people are not that happy with Alcazar drive comfort and suspension as compared to creta. How is it to drive Alcazar on the bad roads?

I've not fixed it, but it has simply not registered with me for the past year. So today after reading your post, I went and checked it, the creaking is still there. But again I completely forgot about it in a few moments of driving. You just get over it.

Re: Hyundai Alcazar Review

I own a 2.0 petrol 7 seater and in my second service last week, the service folks said there is a software update to the engine from Hyundai. Post update I find the engine to be a bit more reactive and do see a slight increase in mileage (not sure if this is due to service or software).

Anyone else got this update and are you seeing any changes in performance?

2. The hatch door lock made some noise when going over huge pot holes.
Even my Alcazar makes loud noise over huge potholes. Could you please help with this? Which door and hatch you are referring to? How can I get this fixed? Tried a lot to find the source of the noise, but in vain.

At the service center, ask them to wrap a tape around the metal clip on which the hatch door lock connects. This will fix the problem.

I will be taking delivery of Alcazar 1.5 Turbo DCT tomorrow. Pray and hope it all goes well along with the ownership experience. This forum and my test drives have helped me to nail down on Alcazar.

Congratulations and drive safe. I can understand what a gigantic task it is to decide on a car. Have a good sleep today. Don't take minor issues and delays with the dealers to heart and spoil your delivery experience. We can find issues with any automobile dealer, if we carry binoculars in our pocket. Just make sure they deliver the car to you with out any issues or damages. Just cross check all the documentation that the dealer provides you. As you have done some personal research, discussed with your near and dear before arriving at Alcazar, just trust your decision and go ahead. Do not take other's opinions too seriously. Enjoy the car and Hyundai dealerships are known for good delivery experiences .
