Well, the first 25K will finish delivering only in Feb 2022 or thereabouts and the next 50K should take 3 more months if we make the assumption that Mahindra ramps up its production to 9K per month from the present 5K per month.

So, anyone who booked after the morning of 8th October is not going to get the car before mid 2022 unless there is a tsunami of cancellations.

You were extremely lucky! I told mine to change the color to white and he told me he would do it, then he cancelled my booking (on 8th) and then “Tried” to book again. He gave me no intimation he had to cancel the booking, and now turns out he lied that he could only book again if he cancelled it first! You are very lucky to have a choice, because of the dealer now I'm kicked out of the initial 50k and have no price protection and have no clue when delivery will be done!

For the models with pricing announced, they are really good but I'm still skeptical about what the top-end could come for. If you add 7-seating + Automatic + AWD to the mix, I believe the on-road might be around 24L-27L (in Hyderabad) for Diesel AT? This might still be competitive but not radical pricing. But for people who don't need all these, the current pricing is bang on!
As of today the AX7's pricing for Diesel AT ranges from Rs.24.45 - Rs.27.78 Lakhs on-road in Hyderabad. The AWD version is at Rs.26L and Rs.27.78L for the normal and luxury pack versions respectively., The prices are as per Carwale website. I believe the petrol AX7 versions are really well-priced but the diesel + AWD versions are taking the prices slightly higher than VFM.

2. Customers are preferring the manual variants the least and the diesel manual in general is the lowest preferred one. The AX3 variants are only accounting for around 15% of the bookings so far.
Thanks for the useful update - the preference towards Petrol is indeed surprising! My guess is there are many first timers moving to the SUV segment from compact sedan/hatchback territory that is dominated by Maruti Petrol's and do not fully understand that the FE penalty for Petrol's, in the heavier SUV segment, will be much more than what they are used to.

Any break-up of % of bookings for the MX variant? Since it was attractively priced, I am assuming it would have taken up a good % of bookings?

Price break-up of India Garage Mahadevapura has around 1.1L for insurance of AX7 Petrol AT while Acko comes around 50K with tax. When I was referring to a 70K difference, I was referring to a 1.2L quote from another dealer, which I couldn't find now. Still a 60K difference.

I believe most of the initial customers will be really happy if Mahindra should have already planned and gave provision to upgrade these initial models with all three feature as an additional pack when they arrive.

If not initial owners are really gonna miss them

Well Initial owners get the latest product in the market, and all companies add new features as time progress (Except Maruti maybe). The problem is the novelty factor of XUV will also be short lived, seeing that they have been booked by the dozen.

Powered tailgate, Ventilated seats will be extremely tough or maybe impossible to retrofit, though I guess auto dimming IVRM should be doable.

Latest info on the XUV700.

...

8. Mahindra has recently built a fully electric prototype of the XUV700 and its powered by a 54 KWh battery pack. But it's just a prototype and not a roadworthy one. A fully electric XUV700 will only be available with the next generation's arrival which is slated for around 2029/30.

Keep watching this space for more info.
While everyone is anxious about when the current variants are going to be delivered, am anxious about when the fully electric version would be announced and will it really take up to 2029?. I hope Mahindra fits it with a battery pack above 95kWh along with a dual motor setup.
The word "roadworthy", does it mean the vehicle is not even ready to be driven in Mahindra's test tracks?

9. If we take into account the ex showroom price of all the variants booked so far for the Thar and the XUV700 combined then Mahindra is hypothetically sitting on a cash reserve of around 20k crore rupees.

10. By 2026 Mahindra wants to have the title of the manufacturer with the most number of variants on sale in the Indian car market. This will include variant combinations like Manual/Automatic, FWD/AWD, Soft top/ Hard top etc.
That's a great amount of "(promised/potential) unearned revenue" to have in hand. Congratulations to them.

However the next point makes me nervous. Is that a worthwhile goal to pursue? It is likely to leave the buyers confused about the variants and unless they get their operations in top shape, it is going to be a headache for the ops guys. It will be a case study for operations management students by 2025... Whether it is one of those "how to do" cases or "how not to do" cases, only time will tell

Very good 3D rendering of XUV700 I came across in Instagram. Enhancement I could notice - matte paint, tinted windows and lowered ride height. Link : https://https://instagram.com/amgstop?utm_medium=copy_link

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Just got a call from an M2ALL representative (official Mahindra accessories store), congratulating me on my XUV 700 booking and enquiring about my interest/preference in accessories that I would like for the car. Politely told him that boss, there's no indication of car delivery yet, what will I do with accessories!!!

Anyway, told him that I had gone through the accessories' list already and will select some basic stuff once car delivery dates are intimated.

Yes!! I just talked about this a page back, so happy that Mahindra included this. Have to say the entire infotainment package and software feature development has been done marvellously well. No wonder since Mahindra partnered with Bosch to work on all this.

Some update on the portal. My Bookings now show a Track My Booking button. Although it doesn't seem to do anything yet I'm optimistic.

I have escalated this matter to almost everyone in M&M automotive but basically i have been left on my fate/dealers mercy as " nothing can be done now" as per them.
