1. Is there a chance of engine damage?
2. what’s the experience on dealing with such issues for insurance. I do have engine cover protection but not sure if they cover water damage due to floods.
UPDATE :
1. I was lucky that no damage to engine. Changed fluids/air filter etc.
2. if you are in Chennai, Please avoid Zulaikha keelkatalai for service. Have had consistently very bad experience. AMPL is much better.

It could be a result of improved network coverage of Vodafone Idea in your area. Maybe they upgraded the tower infrastructure or added new tower(s).

What about XUV 7OO automatic variants ? Do you wait on a signal in an automatic on Drive mode ? Does Auto Hold or pressing Brake also saves the XUV 7OO from any kind of slow wear and tear when waiting on the Drive mode ?

It's a normal torque converter afaik. Just stop in drive and either hold the brake or use auto hold. Put it in park if you are going to be stopped for extended periods of time.

It's a torque converter. If the signal (or halt) is for now than a few seconds, moving to neutral will reduce heat buildup and prolong the life of AT fluid.

And when parking, moving to neutral and ensuring flat surface (or using the hand brake) before moving to Park will reduce the load on the parking pawl

For stops greater than 20-30 second I slot it into N, with auto stop engaged you dont even have to press brakes for D-N-D.

From reading the manual, this is what I could figure out when coming to a STOP in ATs.

If the Engine Auto start/stop feature is in enabled state, it wouldn't matter as the engine is off.

if you have the Auto hold switched on, then AVH would kick in and your TC shouldnt be sending power to the wheels.

If you have ISG/AVH both turned off then keeping the Brakes depressed should ensure your TC is not stressed/ Move Gear lever to 'N'.

We could probably confirm the power/Torque currently applied from the Zap/Zoom drive mode Display panel in 'Fun With XUV'. But I have seen that the panel livens up only on pressing accelerator.

In my 700 - the engine note and vibrations are much more relaxed when in N as against D with foot on brake or Auto Hold engaged.

I visited Ananth Cars on Mysore Road for an inspection, and they were not able to come to a conclusion and were not ready to check in a day. They had requested that I leave the vehicle for 2 days, and the manager there started giving reasons like the server is not working to raise the issue with the Mahindra Tech team. I had a visit to Chrome Motors on Mysore Road later, as I needed this to be resolved, and I was surprised with the way they worked on this issue. Without any delay, they immediately flashed the EMS and tried changing the belt tensioner and the engine belt, and then found the culprit here was the vacuum pump and ordered a new one, which will be fit once it reaches them.

A great thanks to Mr. Dinesh Shetty, who managed to get this done in less than 3 hours of time and was satisfied with the way his team worked on this issue.

Will update once the vacuum pump is replaced.

Today I got a call from the manager himself (Mr. Dinesh Shetty, Chrome Motors, Mysore Road, Bengaluru) telling me that the vacuum pump had arrived and asking me to come anything for the replacement. As I was waiting for this part, I immediately went, and he had everything ready. As soon as I visited the service center, there were 3 people at my car replacing the pump, and the replacement was done in no time. After EMS flashing, there was an issue with the power modes, and Dinesh, with no further delay, asked the technicians to reflash EMS and have the system updated to the latest version, and the issue was resolved.

Big thanks to Dinesh and the team from Chrome Motors, Mysore Road, for such a quick response and service.

In an ideal world, the engine RPMs should be lesser in 'D' and brakes applied than when Engine is idling in Neutral.

I have not specifically felt any discomfiture in my 7oo while stopped in 'D' , which could mean that it has not caused any discernible shuddering/ vibrations.
But I will specifically look for it in the future for comparison.

I used to shift to 'N' when I was driving the DSG, but am not doing so in the 7oo due to the TC.

I felt the same and my driver has a habit of putting the car in N normally with EPB on and me coming from manual to AT used to keep it in D but the vibrations were noticeable in Auto Hold or Brake.

Started to shift to N with AH On and it's become a better ride now.

Not sure if this makes sense but I kinda think D is trying to move the car ahead while AH is trying to resist from moving forward which sounds like it could decrease the brake pads life with both trying to compete which leads to more vibrations. I could be totally wrong here but that's what I felt from tests.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

This Monday morning, as I set out for work in my XUV 700, about 2 km into the drive, both the infotainment screen and instrument cluster unexpectedly went blank. Initially, I assumed it was a random error that would resolve itself upon restarting. However, to my surprise, the issue persisted. At a traffic signal, attempting to restart the car proved futile. Seeking guidance, I contacted the technician at Harbir Mahindra in Chandigarh, who advised removing the battery terminal. The screens stubbornly remained blank as I made my way to work.Despite following the suggestion and leaving the battery terminal disconnected for 15 minutes, it resulted in nothing.

Taking a short leave from work, I promptly reached Harbir Mahindra, where their technicians promptly attended to the issue. Attempts to reset the battery by disconnecting and reconnecting the terminal with a laptop yielded no results. Further inspection of fuses revealed nothing suspicious. Removing the glovebox, they checked the silver box for water damage, but it was not the culprit. As a last attempt, they left the silver box disconnected for 30 minutes, then reconnected it, and connected the battery terminal. Miraculously, the screens came back to life as if nothing had happened.

Curious about the cause, I inquired with the technician, but they couldn't provide a definite explanation. Special thanks to Mr. Sudhir and Mr. Vipin for their prompt response and assistance throughout the process.

The reliability of the system has gone better but it just doesn't inspire confidence that it will flawlessly work everytime.

+1 here. @roadrunner_nv You have explained it perfectly as "dog shaking off water" . Mine is a Aug 2023 manufactured car. The mild shaking occurs between 20-30 kmph. But if we feather through the speed range it is barely noticeable. Seems like Mahindra is still struggling with QC issues even after 2 years of launch. Has anyone fixed the problem?
I feel it is either the engine mount or the transmission mount. My doubt veers towards the transmission mount as the shaking appears only in the 2nd gear.

Hello. Thabks for the advise to choose AMPL. Could you PM me any service advisor contact so that I can get in touch with them. My rear parking sensor stopped working and I was wanting to visit a service center.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Has anyone chosen not to renew Adrenox subscription? I have the subscription expiring in 10 days and wondering what would stop working. I believe the Vi SIM connectivity would stop, causing everything related to it to stop. That would include mappls, controls from Adrenox app, Alexa, trip history, vehicle status and the apps like Zomato that one may never use! Does the offline capabilities and Android Auto/Car Play continue to work?
