Nothing you could have done. No one saw it coming so this wasn’t your fault. But that does not mean you don’t have a right to complain or seek a compensation. Write to Mahindra and speak to the dealership. I am sure something would be offered in Cash or in form of discounts to the recent buyers.

Please update on what you get finally. I'm also getting my car in the next few days. May go for Gfx. I've seen Pharoah only in pics. Want to see it physically before buying.

I am hopeful of this plan, as long as Mrs does not come across this news too.
And I just came back from a 1200 km drive immediately after taking delivery of the AX7 last week. And I come back home to read that the rates have been slashed. Entire joy of the amazing ride got washed away for a moment. But, I guess nothing we can do, except trying raising it with Mahindra. I and few others have tagged Mahindra & Mr Anand Mahindra too on X (twitter) asking for the discount to be extended to all who took delivery after the 200000th xuv. But, I don't think anyone will respond. But, I am hopeful they will do something to assuage our pain. Others also try tagging them on X with similar concern, maybe they will get a clearer idea of our pain

That said, I had an amazing first XUV700 long drive. Will share a detailed experience shortly.

Thanks.

For anyone else who may face same predicament: You need to Press Hard and fast (even if it feels you will break the delicate looking piece of your dear XUV). Took the gamble and it worked for me. However, I feel I will stick to the fob unlock button than be worried about “Did I push it too hard?”

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I recently took a TD of AX7L Petrol Auto. I had lot of expectations before the TD but came out completely disappointed. The TD car was a year old with about 23k on the ODO. It drove pretty bad. NVH was bad, didn’t gain pace like 200 bhp car should, suspension felt like that of a 10 lakh rupee car.

It seemed like it was built to a price. It felt like a 15 lakh rupee car if you disregard all the gadgetry. It didn’t have the finesse of a 35 lakh rupee car. The basic engineering of the car felt cheap. In comparison, I was truly impressed by the Verna. It felt like a far superior and well engineered car.

Did Mahindra build a 15 lakh rupee car and charging huge premium for electronics or did I get a bad example as a TD car? Anyone else felt this way?

A bit of both actually. The suspension setup is nothing great, plastics feel cheap but the rest of the package is really good. Take a TD again with a different dealership. Your view might change.

What you have mentioned is coming as a surprise to me (but again whatever you mentioned can be quite relative too). It will definitely drive different (heavier, worse aerodynamics as its bigger) if you will compare to any decent sedan but, during my test drives and even with my new car I definitely did not find the issues you are referring.

I also own a Petrol AT Creta (Petrol NA engine) and definitely XUV's turbo engine sounds much quieter and is more swift than Creta (CVT v/s Torque transmission may explain the difference I felt). I have also in past owned Nissan Bluebird/Sunny, Xtrail and Honda Accord, and XUV engine + transmission still feels in another league (closer to erstwhile Rexton's Mercedes engine + transmission combo).

How long will this honeymoon experience last? Not sure, but loving every moment right now.

Have also not found it lacking in NVH. Only the other day a "Mr Yellow Board" got mad at me because while I could see him, I could not hear his incesseant honking(as per himself) inside the vehicle.

Suspension also passed my level of quality check on the "new" 100 feet road opp Decathlon on Sarjapura Road. Anyone who's been on that stretch will know what I mean. But, again suspension behaviour is very subjective to each person.

Yes, plastics could definitely have been better, and let's not even touch the IRVM.

If anything, I will say the bells and whistles of the car are it's weaker spots. Still struggling to have a drive without my CarPlay connection dropping at least twice. Seat ventilation is not even comparable to my Creta's. I don't even use it most of the times (whereas in Creta it's the first thing I switch on after ignition).

So, in summary, will recommend another test drive with another dealer. If it still does not score well in your book, then you know for sure it's not up to your expectations.

What car you are currently driving. The engine and the suspension is what makes the 700 tick. The NVH is also very good. Test drive cars are not well maintained. I think you should check out a different dealership.

I have come to realise that the tyre pressure on XUV700 makes a very big difference in ride quality. Specially if you are driving lite, alone or two people in it. The recommended 32PSI is the best, the ride is plush. Anything over 35psi and you can feel every road undulations, and here is more body roll and bounce.
