Hasn't experienced the issue again but thanks for the tip! Will keep this in mind for the future.

I'm visiting the SC on Monday next week (Rats chewed up some wires in the engine bay ), will check with the SA if he remembers specifically what the underlying cause (and part) was that led to this noise.
Did you get a chance to check with the SA on the part / cause of this issue? Thanks.

Apologies, missed it in the midst of filing insurance claim and handing off the car for a major repair work. I'll be visiting SC in the coming week to pick up the car, have set a reminder on my phone now so that I don't forget this.

Hello All,

Booked AX7 Diesel MT at MM Motors, Iyyappanthangal, showroom.

However I see many negative feedback in Google reviews. Anyone purchased this place or any other place in Chennai, please share your feedback.

Thank you
I bought my XUV from the same showroom. The delivery was prompt. But I was disappointed on many other fronts. I will list them down

1.At the time of delivery, the salesperson openly demanded some sort of gift for delivering the car on time. I've owned cars from Hyundai,Maruti,Tata but this is the first time I experienced this. I had to give him an earful and spoil my mood on the same day my car was delivered

2.A month after buying the car, they sent a guy to our residence and made us buy a coupon book for Re.999 which entitled us few free car washes and discounts on service bills. But when I tried to claim the discount during my next service,I was told that they've withdrawn that scheme. Only when I threatened them that I am going to raise it to Mahindra, they gave me the discount.

3.Their service is just okayish and they never give your car on the promised time. I found AMPL much better on the service part

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Thanks @Enthusiast81 for sharing the experience.

Any issues you see with the delivered vehicle ?

Based on the review comments and your experience, I too understand that AMPL is much better in terms of vehicle service.

1. Which Service Centre are you using?
2. How can a car have electrical and mechanical issues, the engine wiring and the oil pump are separate, the oil pump runs off the engine and any failure of the oil pump will cause seizure of the engine due to lack of lube oil. The engine wiring is a whole different story, and damage to the engine wiring is visible, have they shown you photos?
3. What are the error codes shown in i-smart?

I think the SVC is taking you for a ride and you need to nail them down. If you want I can help you with a great ASC in gurgaon itself

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Lately the Auto Emergency Braking has been acting up in my car. It detects a collision when the object is a good 4-5 meters away from the car and moving in the same direction and speed as me. It feels like the sensitivity has been turned up, even though I’ve set the warning level to “late”.

Anyone else experience this?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I am in market looking to replace my Duster 2016 and every time, we look beyond XUV700, at the end we come back to it. It's impressive looks and big road presence plus seating comfort draws us back every time we try to move away from it.
The reason to move away from XUV700, both petrol and diesel, are the horror stories I have been reading here.

Below quote from a post by GTO highlights the challenges of Mahindra Petrol Engines:

Extremely limited revs, IIRC, the engine struggled to go over 2000 - 2500 rpm. Pulled over, restarted the engine and it was all good. Luckily, I haven't faced the issue again. Sent it to Mahindra just in case, and they found nothing wrong.

Navpreet had complained about something similar, and then fixed it - link.

Many other complaints on Team-BHP - link to search.
And there are many more related to DPF issues in Mahindra Diesels. There are two very good threads on DPF working which helps - Link 1 (All your questions about DPF & BS6 Diesel answered by a Diesel Calibration Engineer) and Link 2 (The DPF Saga | Tips & Advice on avoiding DPF issues).
On talking to Mahindra dealerships around me, all are selling XUV700 petrols as they are highlighting the NGT order of 10 year for Diesels. Upon confronting them with Petrol horror stories, they say that they have been selling it and have not received complaints. I don't agree to them after what I read.

This is where I am confused. 90% of my driving will be city and once in 2 months a highway drive, so Petrol suits but the engine reliability question kicks in. If I go diesel, then DPF question pops up. So, my questions are after Mahindra having 3 years of feedback -
  1. Are Mahindra petrol issues resolved and the engine is reliable now for someone purchasing in 2024?
  2. Are Mahindra diesel engines tuned better to prevent DPF issues in city for anyone to consider?

Your answers or suggestions will help me in owning a shiny new XUV700, either petrol or diesel.

My gajraj is a diesel mt AX7L and I've a 50:50 city highway ratio. Still dpf clogging comes in once in a while if I don't take it to highway atleast once or twice a week. With your kind of running ie. majority in city, there's no way you should think about diesel unless your city runs are more than 20 km daily on a single go. Bumper to bumper traffic and short city runs are a big no for a diesel XUV.
Rest assured, you'll enjoy whenever you take your XUV 700 out.

All the best and happy driving

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi Guys - Maybe a noob question, so please excuse. We had booked our XUV700 AX7L (D), Auto, in Aug with AML in Hyderabad through our company lease, and after a lot of push and shouting we have been informed on Saturday that the car is now with the dealership. They shared some details of the insurance copy and wanted us to validate the details, which has the VIN number and other items.
When asked about delivery, the sales guy says, it will take 1 week after the temporary registration. Didn't quite understand why there is a 1 week hold up after TR. Can't we take delivery with a temporary registration? Is this a new rule or something?
Please advice.
Also please suggest any must have accessories that we should consider from the showroom. I was thinking about getting the side/foot step, the memory card and mud flaps. The floor mats, scuff plates and Rear fender (if i like something), I was planning to get from an auto accessory shop rather than the showroom

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Folks, anyone saw the brown (burnt sienna) XUV700 yet? My dealer is struggling to get me a white AX7L D AT AWD within his sept commit, has offered all colors as an alt option in the last few weeks. Today he has a brown one coming from factory, I am not sure how the color looks.

A friend saw the same, I guess there was one for delivery at Bomanahalli Sireesh (mentioning since you too from Bangalore).
He said its somewhat similar to the copper color - XUV500, he eventually booked another color due to his preference, but mentioned the brown suits 700.

Diesel is a better bet: If your running is high, it's more on the highways, and you are not bothered by the NGT winter bans and the 10 year rule spreading to more and more states.

Petrol is better: If fuel cost is no concern (mileage is abysmal; it will go down to 4-5 in bumper to bumper traffic. Even in the most ideal conditions it will not go beyond 11).

I have driven both extensively: petrol is punchier and more fun to drive than the diesel.

*Any diesel engine will face DPF issues in prolonged short city run conditions. I have only read about the petrol issues in this forum but never experienced it personally nor have friends who own petrol XUV or Thar ever mentioned it.

Calling glitches "horror stories" is an exaggeration. There are definitely more headaches in a Mahindra, but all is forgiven when you are in the driver's seat. The feeling of 200 horses on tap under your right foot is exhilarating!

I have not seen Burnt Sienna XUV700 in person. It was my first preference color, but none of dealers in Hyderabad showed interest to book XUV700 in burnt sienna in past 1.5 months.

I have seen Thar Roxx in Burnt Sienna shade in person. The color looks non metallic and looks good on the Thar. I have posted some pictures of Thar Roxx in brown https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offic...ml#post5845524 (Mahindra Thar Roxx Review)

Thanks Gents, this feedback is very helpful. I am going to stick to my plan of getting white color. In the picture somehow burnt sienna looked more like a metallic copper brown but the one on Thar Roxx isnt very exciting. White is a safer bet
