Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Is it the right time to buy a XUV 7OO because:
  • The 7XO name is already trademarked and is for the ICE version (similar to how the 3OO facelift is named 3XO).
  • The Safari facelift is tough competition and offers more features.
  • M&M is offering discounts/reduced prices on the current XUV 7OO.
  • The XUV e.8 (Electric version of the XUV 7OO on the new Inglo platform) is stated to be launched in December 2024 (as earlier stated by M&M). It expected to come with a new design language and interior enhancements.
  • The XUV e.9 (coupe version of the XUV e.8, also electric) is stated to launch in April 2025. The XUV 7XO (facelift of XUV 7OO) is expected to borrow design language and features from these models.
  • The BE.05 launch is scheduled for October 2025, followed by the BE.07 in October 2026. Therefore, the XUV 7XO launch can be expected between April and October 2025.
  • The BE.09 launch is yet to be announced by M&M.
  • Currently, the XUV e.8, XUV e.9, and BE.05 test mules appear to be in the final testing stages (they are not using dummy headlights, taillights, and alloys, and their interiors seem to be completed). I expect the XUV e.8 launch to be pushed to next year, though.
  • M&M is betting on its ICE models, so they might not be phased out anytime soon.
  • The current XUV 7OO ADAS setup and mirror placement (read: design flaw) are the reasons why M&M is unable to offer auto-dimming IRVM even as an accessory.

I have relied on many rumours and unconfirmed news articles while consolidating this list, so please don’t quote me on it.

Also, are u able to get google maps or Apple Maps on the MID? I tried and I am not able to get it on MID after this update.
1. AC temperature in Apple carplay is a random appearance, sometimes its does otherwise only the change reflects in cooling.

2. Google maps still doesn’t show up on the MID, probably mappls might show.

  • In current avatar it’s a properly baked product with no niggles other than infotainment.
  • Mid life update has added ventilated and captain seats if you need those.
  • Price is cut significantly due to market dynamics, once updated it’ll be at par or more than Safari.
  • Any new upcoming product EV or ICE will have initial issues.

Now, if you are seriously considering EVs then wait, else now is the perfect time. From my experience, auto dimming IRVM is not a big deal. And you can still add it as a 3rd party accessory on top of existing one if required. Details in thread above.

Note: Safari is a very good diesel only alternative. But XUV700 diesel is a better engine.

The engine wiring is a whole different story, and damage to the engine wiring is visible, have they shown you photos?
3. What are the error codes shown in i-smart?

I think the SVC is taking you for a ride and you need to nail them down. If you want I can help you with a great ASC in gurgaon itself

Hey, thanks for the reply.

1. Arav Mahindra in Gurgaon
2. So, now i have been delivered the car back after the repairs being carried out. So, as per the RO they have changed the Oil Pump, Spark plug, Oil Cooling jet along with the earlier replaced cam phaser.

They have changed this in accordance with the recommendations of the Mahindra Plant team. Everything was changed under warranty - so I didn't have to pay a dime.

I have now driven the car almost 200 kms without the issue cropping up again.

3. This I hadn't enquired - so won't be able to answer.

Which ASC in gurgaon do you recommend ?

Please to Extra Edge alias RR Automotive behind Ardee Mall, ask for Ayam, he's the GM. They are a purely service oriented setup.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi Guys - Our XUV700 AX7L, D, AT is ready for delivery and we plan to pick it up over the next few days. Can existing owners, please suggest some must have accessories? We were thinking of the following and need some inputs:
1. Footrest - Do we go with Factory/dealer or after market?
2. Floor Mats - was planning after market as there should be more options
3. Micro SD for dashcam
4. Front/Rear guard - Only if there is something that is aesthetic and non chromy - Again is this better at the dealer or after market
5. Nano film - Is this legal? I thought films were banned, but considering Hyderabad's weather, it would be a must have if it is not a challenge
6. Scuff plates

Also, apart from the PDI, are there any other items to ensure we clear with the dealer? Appreciate your inputs

I didnt get mine yet but I did some planning for these things. Sharing my thoughts.

1. Footrest - Do we go with Factory/dealer or after market?

- After marketing is 12-15K range and cheaper than Mahindra, plus lot of designs and options.

2. Floor Mats - was planning after market as there should be more options

- Again better quality for similar amount in after market

3. Micro SD for dashcam

- Better to buy a SanDIsk extreme card and give, it will last lot longer than what dealer will provide

4. Front/Rear guard - Only if there is something that is aesthetic and non chromy - Again is this better at the dealer or after market

- I liked the design of black color PVC rear guard from Mahindra, minimal bling. Similar options are available in after market too. I might get from mahindra.

6. Scuff plates

-Mahindra seemed better quality

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Folks, finally dealer confirmed shipment of White AWD today from factory and should land in Bangalore early next week. For PDI at this yard before registration, he is asking for full payment. Is that procedure these days or dealer is just trying to arm twist me?

I think its the dealer trying to pull a fast one. No payment is necessary until you're satisfied with the PDI. We've seen far too many cases of a few Mahindra dealers 'damaging' new cars.

Spoke to the SA today. He said it was because of a clamp near turbo assembly which was loose. The clamp's vibration was somehow leading to that crackling noise inside the cabin.

Hope this helps!

No need to adhere to that. If the car is coming next week, dealer is mostly trying to get money before festive holidays related delays.
None of the dealers in Bangalore atleast mandates this as far as I know, you can ask for the VIN, check the vehicle and then make payment.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

47,000 km update of my XUV700

DEF tank was not updating for a few months and had constantly stayed at 36% despite me filling up about 16 Litres during last service. I told this to the mechanic who thought that perhaps it would auto reset once I drive it for a few kms (after the refill of DEF). Unconvinced, I had them take the car to the CoTek who diagnosed the car and tried to reset the DEF metre through his laptop. The process however failed and then he tried to use another software to diagnose the DEF tank and then informed me that - the sensor in my DEF tank had gone kaput. Mind you, this is within 2 years of the purchase of our XUV700 - Mahindra QC shines again and I had another part failing on me prematurely

The CoTek immediately called an SA who then took me to the parts section and had an order placed for a replacement DEF tank (since the sensor doesn't come separately). The parts took 1.5 weeks to arrive at my preferred A.S.S. The called me up on Friday, 27th September to inform me that the part had arrived and I was there at the A.S.S. by Satuday, 28th September.

They first thoroughly checked the DEF tank by draining the remaining DEF fluid, and then filling it up again to check if the meter changed but sadly it was stuck at 36%. Then they replaced the old DEF tank with the new DEF tank that had arrived and then filled up new DEF fluid up to the brim. They then took the car to the CoTek who then reset the meter and voila, the meter was up to 98%.

The cost of the DEF tank with the sensor was around 7000+ (with GST) and thankfully, my trusted and reliable A.S.S. - Apex Motors, Dimapur came through and replaced the part under warranty.

I have to mention this - After spending 2 years with this car, my first Mahindra, if it had not been for Mr. Nubul Uddin, the Service Manager of Apex Motors, Dimapur and the helpful staff over there, I would have sold my Mahindra XUV700 from the few months of ownership since I faced the following issues:
  • I gave it for the first service to a renowned and big dealership in Assam (not mentioning the name here), but the mechanic there destroyed the soft close mechanism of my XUV700 while installing the air filter and now I have a permanently damaged glove box that just falls down without the soft close or open function.
  • The car had issues from the start with software niggles like the car's odometer display going blank while driving and the camera being unavailable.
  • Power window motor failure on the passenger side within one year of ownership.
  • Boot door doesn't close properly every now and then - thankfully I found a juggad to fix the same.
  • Coolant Hose Pipe O-Ring burst while driving on highway (this was before the recall) and almost left me stranded on highway.
  • So many more issues and niggles that I don't have the time to list.

But, despite all this, if I have to give the reason why I stuck with Mahindra instead of selling it and getting a (used) Endeavour or Fortuner, I have to say:
  • Mahindra's excellent aftersales support and service. Hats off to them. I haven't received such a support from other brands that I've owned like - Hyundai, Kia, Renault, Maruti, Isuzu, Toyota, Opel, etc. If I even write on TeamBHP about my issues or just tweet them, I can be assured that Mahindra would give me a call, connect me to the nearest (or preferred) dealership and ensure that my issue is taken care of, like for example, when I and many others complained before the LCA replacement was officialy issued by Mahindra.
  • Mahindra as a company doesn't feel overtly formal or stuck up like the Koreans or Japs. You as a customer feel involved with them, and as they're bettering the car (based on feedback received from customers, internal tests, etc.), you feel part of a community. It reminds me of Xiaomi and how they first started off as a software company known for their Mi skin which many of us contributed to. Xiaomi then, was always ready to take in user feedback and that immensely helped grow their fan base since we felt part of something bigger. The same, I feel, can be said of Mahindra. Yes, it has its faults, yes, its QC can be better, yes, it lags terribly behind in some areas, but it has the heart and gumption that make you cheer and root for it.

I was not a fan of Mahindra cars before, but now despite the many many many niggles I face on my XUV700 on a daily basis, I have fallen in love with the car. Anyway, that was my update on my XUV700 AX7L AWD+AT.

Seems to be true, but interested in the details. I'm not sure how it caused the crackling.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi All.

Quick update from side.
My AX7L D AT completed 1 year yesterday. With 30,400 kms and running my love for this vehicle is increasing day by day!

Touch wood it has been almost niggle free experience till now. Occasional software glitches used to come during initial 3/4 months but nothing for a long time.

Went for 4th service (paid) yesterday and it costed 8500 with major portion of that on filling up DEF tank and engine oil change.

Hope the good experience continues!!

It has to be disabled manually EVERY SINGLE TIME you start the car!
