Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Any good accessory which increases the number of cupholders behind the gear? In my previous car I used to have 2 proper cupholders within arms reach for both front passengers behind gear shifter, miss having that with XUV. XUV has only 1 cupholder.

I have P Manual, AX7 variant.

Hi,
I have been facing a similar issue on my dad's XUV as well. As soon as the car starts, all the previous settings of EQ, 3D sound, sound field position resets and everything needs to be set to liking again. This has been occurring since last software update.

Solution - Haven't found any. And I know service center guys won't have it either. They'll just update the software (Note: I'm not on the latest version)

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hey Fellow BHPians,

This is my 1st post here. Following TeamBHP since last 10 years and learned a lot from all of you. Love the forum and glancing the TeamBHP forum is in my daily routine.

Last month bought home XUV700 AX7 D MT aka GHOST (name from GoT). After searching for more than 1 year to replace my 13 year old Ford Figo TDCi (1.2 lakhs KM and still going strong) finally found worthy replacement and bought home XUV700 AX7 D MT in White color.

In 20 days clocked 800 KM mostly suburb drive with 150 KM highway drive.
  • Love the power this beast has.
  • Super refine engine feels like driving a petrol.
  • Lots of space inside.
  • Handling is superb considering size.
  • Comfortable ride both in city and highway.
  • Niece loved the skyroof.

Yesterday DPF clogged / REGEN required alarm came at just 780 KM while returning home from office. Drove the GHOST in 2nd gear at ~2000 RPM for 15 min (no highway, daily route from office to home approx 10 KM) regen started and in 15 min the warnings disappeared from the MID.

Please suggest whether it is advisable to do this if highway drive is not possible or simply do the park regen.

Thanks and Regards

In my case they got the sensor from another of their outlet. The time they spent on process to identify the issue was painstakingly slow and unprofessional. They were just beating around the bush with no clue even though the issue was glaring at their face. It took serious escalation to get the part replaced.

You did the right thing. I do the same. Atleast not wasting diesel at a parking lot. I typically drive one gear low in such situation. The engine heats up to the needed temperature to burn the shoots.

I was also thinking on same lines today as to why a highway drive if idle high RPM also work. Just driving in lower gear keeping RPM above 2K would work. Only issue in city traffic would be that it may happen in bursts with breaks in between. Does it still remain effective with some breaks ?

Yes, regen was still effective with some breaks and it was giving audio warning when rpm was going below ~1800 for more than ~15 seconds. there was enough time for me to again increase the RPM as I was driving on relatively less crowded road. So regen was completed without fail.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Another day, another problem with the XUV700. This morning at 7:00 AM, we started a 400 km trip in North India’s extreme cold. To my surprise, the air conditioning temperature controls were not working, and the air felt stuck at a temperature around 22°C. While the display showed the desired temperature settings (high or low) as I rotated the temperature knob, the air coming out of the vents remained at same temperature.
I tried restarting the car 3-4 times and even disconnected and reconnected the battery, but it was all in vain. The car has dual-zone climate control, but both zones were stuck with the same cold air.
At around 11:30 AM, I called the Mahindra Service Advisor. During our discussion, I learned that this is a common problem. Apparently, many XUV700s and even Scorpio N's suffer from the same issue. According to the technician, the car has 2-3 actuators responsible for temperature control, and it’s likely that all of them have failed/stuck.
It’s been almost three years now, and I must say I’m "pleased" with the surprises the XUV700 keeps throwing my way—almost every week!
I strongly recommend purchasing the extended warranty, as suggested by GTO.
I’ll visit the service center tomorrow or the day after, depending on when they can source the required parts for rectification.

The service center is approximately 40 km from my home, and it is quite inconvenient to visit them every week for an issue that renders the car unusable.

Looking forward to your insights!
The side footstep may help in some rare scenarios, but not with bikers for sure, they can scratch your vehicle with lots of protruding parts above footstep height. I didn't opt for it and thought to decide only on the basis of need, if felt after a few weeks/months of ownership, I didn't.

I also didn't opt for the rear bumper for two reasons. First, I read that since it is attached to the chasis directly, the impact (not the minor ones) is passed directly to passengers, bypassing the crumple zone. Second, I don't understand that when so many other smaller cars can be driven without bumper, why does this needs one. If anything, the smaller cars would have bigger need for it as usually people go more near to the smaller cars, in my experience. So, I thought, it is simply more for aesthetic appeal made popular by safar/scorpios of yesteryears.

However, the main challenge remains access to a feature set enabling tool, which, as of now, is not available anywhere. Without this tool, even after hardware changes, activation would still be a roadblock.
Thanks Sunil.

Below are the electrical wiring diagrams for the AX7 and AX5. Thought the only missing element was the connection between the EMS ECU and the male connector of the clock spring.

I doubt if Mahindra would've made any specific change to the EMS ECU as the same AX5 which was launched in New Zealand debuted with Cruise Control.

Would be interesting to know if you have tried that out already and ruled this out.

Another day, another serious issue with my Mahindra XUV700. This time, while the vehicle was in motion, it displayed a Check Engine System warning. Deeply concerned, I immediately contacted Mahindra Punj Autos in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The service head, Mr. Animish Mahajan, advised me to stop using the vehicle for safety reasons. He promptly helped arrange RSA and ensured the vehicle was towed to their service center without delay.
While I am increasingly frustrated with the quality and reliability of the Mahindra XUV700, I am equally grateful for the exceptional support I received from Mahindra's customer care team, especially Mr. Animish Mahajan. His professionalism, attentiveness, and consistent follow-ups—checking the status of RSA, overseeing the towing process, and ensuring immediate action upon the vehicle's arrival at the workshop—deserve recognition. Employees like him are invaluable, as they know how to manage and reassure frustrated and disappointed customers. Mahindra should make every effort to retain such dedicated individuals.
This is the third sensor failure I’ve faced this week, following the DEF error and AC actuator failure.
Mahindra urgently needs to re-evaluate its sourcing of components from vendors, as the current quality standards are far from acceptable.
Having owned vehicles from Hyundai, Maruti, and Toyota in the past, I’ve never encountered such persistent problems. Aside from routine annual servicing, I never had to visit service centers so frequently. With the XUV700, I find myself visiting the service center 3-4 times a month due to serious issues.
I have only one car, and with issues like these, I’ve started feeling that purchasing a Mahindra vehicle was a mistake.
It’s better to settle for less features but peaceful ownership.
I kindly request someone from Mahindra's customer care team to address this matter. My experience with the XUV700 has been disheartening.
To anyone considering purchasing the Mahindra XUV700, I urge you to reconsider. While the vehicle's features may initially charm you, these persistent issues can overshadow the excitement and lead to significant frustration, as I have unfortunately experienced.
At last, thanks to the Mahindra Roadside Assistance team for being so helpful.

Dear Mahindra team, please take this feedback seriously. Your customers spending 3 Million deserve better.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi,
Need advice from the users. I have XUV700LDAT 2022 July model. It has cloaked 66k Kms. I just finished a road trip in Dec 24 from Mumbai to Jaipur around 2400 kms with full load ( 4 adults + 2 children + Luggage). During the trip I experienced severe wobbling and vibration from front.I had done scheduled service at 61k with WA & Bal and ensured tyre pressure were 35 in all tyres with nitrogen. Since I had a long return journey with family, I went to KS Motors in Jaipur to see if I can undertake the trip with this issue and their diagnosis of problem. I was sure I could not get it repaired there . They did Balancing again and checked properly and concluded that it could be due to Steering rack issue and/ or suspension but no risk in driving back.

Back in Mumbai I went to Hare Krishna dealership which has diagnosed following main replacements:
1. Link Stabilizer- LH & RH
2. Shock Absorber LH & RH
3. Lower Arm control kit
4. Shock absorber bearing
Total estimate 41k including labour & GST to be born by the owner. They found Steering rack to be OK.

My disappointment is that none of this is being covered under warranty on the pretext that shock absorber are subject to wear and tear and had it been around 40k they could have tried for warranty.

I am meeting them today for discussion on same with following logic to contest:
1. Is the standard life of suspension system only 65 k for which they are calling it wear & tear and charging me?
2. Xuv700 always had suspension issue and many vehicles were re-called for lower arm. I was not called for same. Could a faulty lower arm may have also harmed overall suspension system. If that is the case entire cost should be born by Mahindra
3. The vehicle has never missed a scheduled service and never ever been worked upon outside M&M ( even for WA+ Bal) which are terribly costly at M&M. Not even once such issue was flagged by Service centre. Now suddenly entire front suspension is bad.
4. What is the coverage & extent of standard warranty of 3 years & 1 lac KM?

I seek from the group members advice on where my line of thinking is correct and members PoV on whether this cost should be borne by me and if not how can I take this up with M&M

Mine is Dec 2021 model. Did you get a call for this replacement or did coolant drain?
The same issue has happened to me. The coolant hose burst, and the O-ring is also faulty. I'm not aware of any official recall by Mahindra or any action being taken to address this issue.
Mahindra is not taking responsibility for the faults and has left us to deal with the situation on our own.
I have registered a grievance along with others who have experienced the same problem, urging Mahindra to issue an official recall to ensure people's safety.

The service center will keep my car for 3 days and has unfortunately denied my request for a loaner car. I am here in India for 3 months within a year, and during this time, I have had to visit the service center multiple times. I deeply regret my "Made in India" decision. Over the last 3 years, I have driven the car for no more than 9 months in total, and I have encountered numerous issues that I never expected. It saddens me to realize, in such a difficult way, the truth in what people often say—that brands like Hyundai, Maruti, and Honda tend to offer a more reliable experience compared to the challenges one faces with Mahindra.

P.S.: My vehicle is also a December 2021 make.

That's horrible After Sales commitment!
The whole promise of 3yr 1lakh km is a bluff then? Out of your parts to be replaced, while I can agree that shockers have a wear and tear, Link Stabilizer, Lower Arm control kit, Shock absorber bearing should be clearly covered under warranty! What's a warranty if such parts are not covered? The whole warranty seems to be a scam!
I'm glad you brought up this issue about the ageing of the XUV vs Mahindra's promise of warranty!
I hope someone takes cognizance of this.
