Go for Ceramic/so called Graphene. I would recommend MaxShine in Thane. Have personal experience on two cars, VW polo GT and New Hyundai Verna. XUV has weak paint and is prone to stone chip damage.

Ceramic is good enough. I feel PPF has downsides on the longer term for the expense incurred.

Hi,
Good to hear that your ordeal with battery has come to an end. I suffered with a similar problem for lot many months when the car was new ( Aug 2022 purchase).

On the very first week of purchase, the car had to be towed to the nearest dealer as the battery was so drained that the jump-start did not work. But the reply from the workshop was that it had nothing to do with the battery, some error codes were coming which we can’t solve and will refer to M&M. A Couple of days later they said everything is all right and they had cleared up logs. My mistake was that due to work busyness, I did not go to the workshop and only conversed on the phone and moved on. Partly also because I never thought a new vehicle could have any serious issues.

Faced a couple more such instances needing a jump start but every time the answer was that we had shown it to the battery guy and the battery is OK and we had charged it fully. They did not have any answer to what was causing the drain.

Next, I was struck at Imagica theme park ( some 50 km from Mumbai) where after my daughter’s birthday party at 9.30 pm the vehicle was dead and again needed a jump start. This was the end of my patience.

The next day I approached the GM Service and refused to talk to anybody else. I created a ruckus at the workshop with everything I got including threats of using my contacts at M&M, social media etc. The GM appeared to care and promised me a thorough analysis and wanted some time to do it.
A week passed and I did not bother him so as not to be intrusive in the process. Got a call in 2 more days asking to visit the service centre.
The diagnosis was that my vehicle had a silver box issue which they had replaced earlier when I had once complained of Adrenox not working. That time after checking everything they had concluded that Silver box needed replacement and would be done under warranty. I of course did not object to it.

Cut to current, the diagnosis continued that the faulty silver box was causing the battery to drain and eventually damage one cell. And while the silver box was replaced, they did not think of items which it would have damaged. The GM accepted that they should have done it earlier but now they will change the battery. Since the service personnel keep on changing so frequently, it is easier for them to blame predecessors.

After the battery change, never got that issue again ( except once due to a broken alternator pulley… that story some other day).

Key learnings:
1. As much as possible, deal in person with workshop people. It makes an impact.
2. Never take issues of a mechanical/ electrical nature lightly under the trust that the manufacturer and the service setup are fully knowledgeable to handle your issue. One needs to be on their toes! Specifically with M&M, specifically with XUV 700.
3. Never judge a battery by its peak voltage, always look for cold start crank Voltage. If it is less than 9 V, you need to change the battery This is a golden rule AFAICS.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello fellow BHPians,

I would like to have your opinion on the performance of headlights in low beam. I travelled from Vijayawada to Hyderabad on 29th Dec 2024 late in the evening, I found the low beam headlight performance very frustrating. The roads were not well lit at parts and the visibility was taking a hit. I had to switch to high beam whose performance was just OK. I brushed off this incident thinking it might be because of sleep fatigue.

Last week I travelled from Goa to Hyderabad, at around 6:30PM somewhere near Naldurg, due to poor lighting and not adequate reflectors car underbody took a severe hit. I was cruising around 40 or 50KMPH at the time of this incident. I was relying on low beam lights because of village traffic but I wasn't able to notice the road bump till the last moment.

These two incidents made me think about the quality and performance of the headlights in low beam. The road visibility is very poor, I feel the light throw is pathetic atleast for my vehicle. I was wondering if I should get my vehicle checked or get my eyesight checked?
Does any one has any information on light throw issues with XUV700? Or should I get lights upgraded in the after market? If yes, any suggestions please and does it void any warranty?

Thanks,
Rakesh

AFAIR, there was a recall early last year to change the Lower control arm which had modifications to accommodate bigger dia bush and rear bush sleeve.

My vehicle was not in recall list but there is no reason not to be so I pressed service person on this. At least this would not be charged to me. Lets see how it turns out for other parts.

Would certainly share the journey through the ordeal
Hi folks,
Update on the above issue . Workshop agreed to cover following parts under warranty:
1. Lower control arm
2. Rubber insulator bush
3. Engine mounting insulator
4. Bump stopper

Link stabilizer RH and LH not covered

Shock absorber LH and RH and bearing were ok and need not be replaced . They said if it needs replacement they would cover under warranty ( I hardly believe though)

The vehicle was ready for test drive.
Severe wobbling, vibration and front suspension noise is all gone. These were main problems noticed during long Mumbai Jaipur trip.
left side pulling and wobbling particularly at low speeds and at rear still there. These were before the trip also for few months. Wheel balancing and alignment is not solving this.

The diagnosis for these issues is worn out tyres. As the vehicle has clocked 66k on oem shoes, the above said problems will get solved apparently with new tyres.
I think changing tyres is must now. Also as almost full suspension setup is new, running it with old tyres would damage it. If the problem persists after change ,I will have to start a new chapter with M&M.

Seek opinion from the team whether such tyres can cause noticeable wobbling and pulling? Have I really driven too much on stock tyres?

Aside to the technical issue, I wanted to highlight another issue.
When I asked Senior service advisor 10 days back to include Shock absorbers in warranty, he said he will check with M&M and get back.

2 days later he called up and said he got it covered and they are ordering parts now and in 4-5 days once we get then we shall fit and call you.

2 days later got a call from service advisor that parts have come and we have fitted them and you can come for test drive.

I was surprised how parts will come so soon and everything done. But this guy kept on saying “ we have become fast sir”.
Then I asked whether everything on the estimate list which was to be replaced is replaced? Again affirmative.
I started going part by part that is when the person admitted that shock absorbers they have not replaced as the existing ones were found to be okay.

I was very disappointed with this shady approach. If I were to bear the cost then everything needed replacement. If it needs to be covered under warranty then it is found to be in working condition.

I raised this to GM and as per him, they give an all probable exhaustive estimate but go in a step by step manner!

How methodical of them. We are in safe hands!

Has anyone else faced these issues?
This issue was not present in my car for around a year. From the past one year I'm facing the same issue, the seat moves only 3/4th of the saved height. It's really annoying

Similar story!

Earlier, I used to set the seat slightly further and lower, as I was used to my sedan’s driving position, but lately I’ve been setting it higher and slightly closer as I prefer the commanding view. Ever since then, this issue has been constant.

Me too. My 40k service is due in another 1000kms and I intend to take it up with my SA at NBS Sewri. I don’t really have much hope for a fix as those folks haven’t even figured out how to get my tyre and steering alignment right (another persistent issue), but fingers crossed.

Will update this thread if I have a positive one.

The closest alternative is the 95D26L (which is 72ah). Nowhere in the manual is a battery model mentioned as an alternative, which could help owners take a decision, if at all going in for a replacement at any stage. So it seems, completely dependent on ASC. I am even more sceptical that there would be any consistency among the various ASC's as well while suggesting a replacement.

When my vehicle battery went dead recently, the RSA person who came to jumpstart the car, mentioned that the life of 7OO OEM batteries is 2 years and anything beyond that is one's luck. Imagine that!

As you mentioned, for a connected car, 72ah does seem low. considering the below two scenarios, there could be many triggers for rapid battery failure.
- Imagine the wonderful VI network which we keep following trying to latch on. Battery drain trigger?
- The software updates and any possible glitches that could be triggering rapid battery drains. Possible?
OE battery warranty period is just 1 year. Further, any replacement batteries during the warranty period will only be covered under warranty for the remaining period.
However, if you buy new battery, warranty period is 48 months.

There must be quality differences between OEM and replacement products.

Get the tyres checked for thread depth, uneven wear and remaining life. It might be time to change as 66k km is a lot of running on OEM tyres.

Agree with Bhpian Aviator_guy on this. 66k kms is a lot on original tyres. I'm myself planning to replace at the 50k mark if all is well. You should definitely get the tyres inspected thoroughly; the threads must have surely surpassed their life already. Wheel alignment/rotation/balancing will serve no purpose if the tyres are worn out.

I have been sending the car to NBS Sewri ever since the first service 3 years ago and happy with their service till now. Both the SAs - Tejas Jadhav and Mohd Shaikh have been thorough and helpful always. Request either of them to inspect your car. If that doesn't help either, you should definitely escalate to M&M.

I am deeply saddened to share my recent experience with Mahindra Punj Autos. My car was with them for three days, during which they were able to address only the coolant hose issue. Unfortunately, the car was returned with a significant scratch, with paint ripped off the boot door, and the boot door itself misaligned.

I will drop off my car again today and provide an update on this later.

Attachment 2713743
Update on the Issues:

The car was repaired within two days and is now back on the road. According to the Service Manager, only a small portion of the boot door was painted, and the software was updated to the latest version (But On display the software version is the same)

During my visit to the workshop, I observed a significant number of Diesel BS6 vehicles, all of which had been brought in through RSA. After speaking with several owners, I learned that these vehicles—ranging from 6 months to 3 years old—had clogged DPF filters caused by poor-quality diesel from a nearby Jio BP fuel station.

Surprisingly, the cost of fixing the DPF filters has to be shared equally by the vehicle owners and Mahindra, even if the vehicle is under warranty. This is reportedly justified because the issue arises due to bad fuel.
However, I would like to point out that only Mahindra vehicles—including Thar, Scorpio, and XUV models—seem to be affected by this fuel. Vehicles from other manufacturers, such as Toyota, Ford, Tata, and Hyundai, using the same fuel from the same station, were not affected.

I also noticed several commercial vehicles at the workshop. Many of the owners, who rely heavily on these vehicles for their livelihood, appeared tense, stressed, and understandably emotional.

On a positive note, Mahindra's team was working hard to resolve the issue and diagnose the root cause. The team was even working on Sunday to remove the filters and address the problem, as cars affected by this issue are expected to take at least 25–30 days to get fixed. The DPF filters were being removed and sent to Noida for cleaning.

Photos of Boot door and software version are attached.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Folks, a quick shout out for help and suggestions:

I am looking for a proper SUV with 7 seater option in market. Have narrowed down on XUV but confused with options. My yearly run only allows me to consider Diesel options

FYI have owned 2-3 cars over different period of times right from nimble Santro to driving Vitara Brezza ZDI AGS right now.

1. In Mumbai currently does it make sense to buy a diesel vehicle? Recent HC suggestion was to have NCR like ban.

2. Is it worth the money in 2025 to go for XUV? Safari is ruled out due to Tata’s ASS.

3. Of the varients, AX5 suits my most needs. Is it worth the money to stretch to AX7?

4. Can XUV700 do cross country drives reliably??

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

A friend of mine recently purchased xuv 700 ax5 diesel automatic (TC).

He feels that compared to test-driven vehicles the lag in 1st and 2nd gear is noticeably more. He took it back to showroom they send him back saying it is normal.

Any thoughts from fellow owners of the same variant? ?

Your budget and usage will better define the answer.

1 For XUV 700, the default recommendation will be diesel (more than 75% of sales) since petrol is a serious gas guzzler (even the deepest pockets will have anxiety attacks seeing the city mileage) + Mahindra's petrol engines are not as reliable as diesel ones (search forum for examples, including GTO's). If you are worried about NGT ban, Alcazar is a safer bet in a similar price range but with a compromise on road presence, driving pleasure, space, safety, sex appeal, etc.

2 IMHO XUV still offers the best bang for the buck in the segment

3 Anything less than AX7 will be like going to a Coldplay concert and buying the last row ticket. You will always wish you had spent the extra for a better experience.

4 Yes

Thank you Powertrain. Yes this helps. It was s very precise conclusive answer without going into much details.

In the Sub 30 Lacs 7 seater SUV market, you have few options like Safari , Alcazar, XUV 700, Hector Plus and Scorpio N.

In my opinion, if you want to have a proper SUV (7S) , it's only the Scorpio N , which cuts it , if you consider the road presence and the ability to just shoo away pesky small cars , bikes and autos. However, it does not have the sorted road manners which the XUV 700 / Safari / Hector has.

I didn't consider Alcazar as dont like the sedate Hyundais and the look doesn't appeal to me. Specs are also inferior to XUV 700.

Safari was a good upgrade from my current Nexon but over the last 3 years , Tata's ASS has deteriorated, which I have experienced first hand especially in Thane and many have spoken about it in on the forum. Also XUV 700 has a more powerful engine and looks more classy compared to Safari. Now, if Harrier had a 7S option, Tata would have had some hope.

Drove the Hector, didnt find it much appealing from a driver's perspective vis a vis the XUV 700.

Having given my opinion above, below is my attempt to answer your questions

1. I don't think Mumbai will take a knee jerk decision like what NCR did, with other sources contributing more to pollution than diesel cars.

2. Yes, it's worth it going for XUV and if you going for it, go for AX7 L

3. As mentioned above, AX7 L is worth the money
Negotiate hard and try to go for the Nov / Dec 24 models. You can score a good deal

4. I have just had my XUV since 3 days, and have bought if for this very reason- cross country drives.

If you still have more queries or doubts , DM me and we can discuss.
