Issue is resolved. Got back the car today. There was a loose bracket connecting the turbocharger. Thankfully no serious issue. Service center took two days to pinpoint and resolve the sound problem. Overall satisfied with the outcome.

Hello All friends ,

I am Ricky and it's my new thread to introduce my new XUV7OO and post regular updates on Team -BHP. I will be posting regular updates , queries and experience on this thread about our new car.

I have been using cars since 2006 from my first car , a humble M800 then WagonR, Swift Dezire D then Nissan Xtrail for 4 years abroad then again back in India Renault Triber for last 5+ years. Last car Triber was driven for 105K Kms and it was raising few concerns like little hard clutch, leak suspension , mounting issue etc. Got a list of work to be done on the same then came the thought in my mind that should I really invest in a car which is run for 105K kms in 5 years or should I go for new one. After discussing with wife , we decided to go for new one .

Triber was a 7 seater but we always used it as 5 seater by removing easy removal seats and using the huge boot space as seating space for our dog and our travel heavy luggage.

So My criteria for my family SUV was very clear :

1) 7 seater
2) A solid built , safe and beautiful SUV
3) Proven Performance
4) Driving pleasure
5) advanced driving / safety features

I am more interested in strong basics than add-ons. I love driving and like to drive enthusiastically or faster when I am alone but with family I am very very careful while driving and I am a trained driver abroad who still follows these driving rules so safety was a top priority. Few flashy other things whether sunroof or ambient lightning or ventilated seats or heated mirrors etc. do not matter much to me . I feel these modern cars are not offroaders like a Gypsy or MM550 or a Classic/CJ3B I never have intention to take it for off-roading so AWD was also not priority, I had done Off-roading rigorously on my previously owned MM550.

Since we wanted to upgrade to a bigger 7 seater car , what we had in mind ? - Tata Safari for its Masculine look and road presence , XUV7OO again kind of same reasons , Innova Crysta , MG Hector , Hyundai Alcazar

What we observed in all cars by taking TD or seeing friends cars to make conclusion -

Tata Safari - Despite Me and wife liked the car , the after sales service issues and niggles kept pushing us back. Couple of my friends who have Harrier told stories of their cars at service station so we decided not to go for it

Innova Crysta - we liked it but it doesn’t offer AT in Diesel but we wanted AT , the engine is so noisy and a kind of Taxi feeling kept us away from Crysta

MG Hector - Lot of MG owners live in my society , I got mixed responses about car and service reviews plus its Chinese or British or Indian was a question and yet not so established in india

Hyundai Alcazar - rejected as it has smaller engine , and pricey for the kind of it offers.

XUV 7OO - A decent 7 seater with diesel , AT , SkyRoof, Safety features , advance driving modes , most importantly a punchy torqy engine which was badly missed in my Triber when traveling with full family .

I sold my Triber on an online platform and went for booking XUV7OO. I was OK with AX5 variant which had 4 air bags , sky roof , 17 inch alloys , black grey interior , NO ADAS or more features as I feel that was sufficient for my need . But when my wife saw a difference of about 1 lacs between AX5 and AX7 due to reduction in AX7 prices as a celebratory deal she insisted on going for AX7 variant. I felt AX7 luxury pack unnecessarily high priced obviously for its extra features so we decided for AX7 Diesel AT which gave me additional features like electrically adjusted driver seat , ADAS, 18inch alloy wheels , Beige interiors so on so forth.

I booked an Everest White color XUV 7OO in Bhavna Mahindra Navi Mumbai on 6th April and I got a confirmation regarding car allotment in 2 days . Vehicle was expected to reach by 12th or 13th . I did a PDI with TB PDI sheet on 15th and gave go ahead for registration and Insurance process. I found PDI was better and had no issues there.

With lot of holidays within the week the registration process took some time. The delivery was scheduled on 21st April . I got few accessories like Side foot step ,rain visor , itched scuff plates, floor lamination , carpet mats, mud flaps etc from the dealership . I bargained for Insurance with my agent quoting much lesser than Mahindra insurance , finally they matched the quote with same benefits . It was big saving which helped me in getting few more accessories later like Dash Cam , rear bumper guard.

The on road price with Ex Showroom + Insurance + Regi was Rs. 25.87 lacs + Accessories worth Rs.70K

On 21st April , we went to dealership in the morning , signed few handover documents , did pooja there as my wife had carried all pooja material with us . My parents were also with me . We all were having a big smile on our face for this big car , my Son was in school and he was about to get a big surprise on return .

We named it as AIRAAVT - A white elephant who is a Vahana of Indra Dev

Here are few pics

I had the same issue which was resolved last year. Mine is 2022 AX7L AWD. In the cabin, above a certain RPM (and on certain kind of roads), I used to get a noise (similar to electrical whirring/buzzing). It was hard to describe the noise to the SAs and hard to replicate during test drives. But one fine day while on a test drive with SA for a different issue, the noise came and he acknowledged it. After a lot of investigation, they figured it was a loose connection (of something) with the turbo. Fixed for good.

Now I wonder if mine was an isolated case or if it affects more 700s out there.

Many congratulations on your new ride.

M&M's delivery experience leave a lot to be desired. I mean going by these pictures, even the Maruti Suzuki provides way superior delivery experience for the humble Ignis which probably costs ~ 30% of the XUV700.

I think it's time for M&M to up their game. Their showrooms for example are not very welcoming.

True !! M&M says their showrooms as Sport Utility Vehicle showroom but the condition of showrooms , space and overall look and feel doesn't do justice.

Moreover some or the other flaw makes the experience little less happier. e.g. I am still to get my User/Service manual . Its 25 days since I took delivery and driven Airaavt for over 2.2k Kms. Repeated calls made to Sales Manager , finally it is expected today. He confirmed that in first service , its just checks all over and washing so no problem .

I am planning to change engine oil in first service even though Mahindra doesn't do it . The logic - Any metal particles (Bur) mixed in oil by friction after first 2K kms will get out of the engine and a smooth fresh Engine oil will make the engine more smoother. I had done this when I had Swift Desire-D long back and it worked well as a engine settling in process. What say ? Is it a good way to make engine settling in process better?

The metal particles (sliver) in engines during their run-in period is a phenomenon of older generation cars. These days (atleast since the last 15 years) with the level of precision in manufacturing processes, there is no chance of loose bits /sliver and literally no need to "run-in" the engine.

The only cautionary note in new vehicles is not to drive them at a constant speed for a prolonged period during the first 1000 KMs. There is also no requirement to keep the speed lower during the same period that was required in older vehicles.
Extending the same, engine oil change is not needed and can be changed at the regular prescribed interval (after a year or 10K/20K KM as the case maybe).

Congratulations on the new car. Although most manufacturers do not recommend an oil change this early, there is definitely no harm that will be done in changing the oil. Please go ahead with the oil change if it gives you a little more peace of mind.

I can understand what you mentioned. I am driving the car in various speeds say like from 55 to 90kmph on highways . I have not taken it to above 100+ kmph until now but the speeds are not constant . The engine oil change as per prescribed service is at 10K kms.

Yeah . My intention to change oil was this peace of mind only

I have driven AIRAAVT for about 2.2K Kms untill now. I am getting mileage of 16 kmpl in City driving (Please note I live in Mumbai and travel from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai and back) and 19 kmpl on highway when I drove to 750 kms on highway to my native place and back to Mumbai with 5 passengers +luggage + my dog in the car, not driven above 100kmph on this trip.

What say? Is it good ? Will it increase over time ? or this is the upper limit ?

I too had a very similar issue but could not get it fixed until now as I was not able to reproduce the issue when I go for the test drives with SA. I even showed the message you posted earlier about the turbo assembly loose clamp which then got fixed to SA, but the service center couldn't identify and fix the noise. The resolution seems very similar as posted by @EzBreeze, so I am planning to visit another service center for my 30K service which is due and get this checked again. Thanks.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I'm getting FE around 17-18 regularly. Mixed City and Sub-urbs driving. AC is always on. I have turned off ventilated seats option. Refuel only from Shell or sometimes at indian oil. Have kept optimum tyre pressure at 35 all round (air)
DEF is currently at 65% odo is almost at 4900kms
What's the ideal point that I should refuel DEF? Mahindra uses Maxiclean DEF. I'm tempted of go for Shell's DEF ( blue) one. Will it have impact on the car? Or good to go with Shell's DEF?
Thanks for valuable feedback!

I too keep AC on full time and use default ZAP mode always with Tyre pressure @32 all round. I fill up fuel in BP mostly. Have no idea on DEF as current DEF level is 85%.

Glad to know that sharing of our issues here helped. Hope that the issue in your car gets fixed now.

Now that makes it three of us with the same issue, I wonder how many more 700s are out there with the same problem. With the ever increasing load on service centres and the hard-to-diagnose nature of this problem, I'm afraid many 700s may just end up living with it

Have you evaluated Continental CrossContact H/T and Yokohama Geolandar SUV?

https://www.continental-tires.com/in...osscontact-h-t
https://www.yokohama-india.com/produ.../geolandar-suv

I'm also looking to replace the tyres on my car and primarily looking at Yokohama Geolandar SUV and Continental CrossContact H/T. Spoke to a few dealers in Chandigarh and Bangalore, they all have Geolandar in stock (and highly recommend it) but CrossContact is nowhere available. For Continental, PremiumContact 6 is what's available with most dealers.

Both of these are highway terrain, all season tyres. Both come with an unconditional warranty which seems to be lacking in Michelin, although Yokohama has 5 years compared to 2 years of Continental.

I'm inclined towards Geolandar since these have a strong recommendation for Indian roads. Great for city and highway drives but I'm told that even for the occasional off-road usage, these perform better than Michelin or Continental. I do a trip to Himalayas once a year and have another one planned next month to Spiti and Zanskar, where I don't expect heavy or fresh snow on the roads, but on the riverbed terrains that exist in these valleys, the tyres should give the confidence of making it through without significant damage. Geolandar won't work in these regions in the winters, but June is less snow and more of stones and rocks.

Would love to know reviews & experiences of others here for these tyres!

I am unable to view trip history in adrenox app. The other features like locate SUV, live tracking, remote start work. Any ideas how to fix this.
