They did a bad job on letting the interested folks know about the route or the dealerships the drive is visiting. After frantically calling few dealers, I finally managed to scramble and get a glimpse of the car at Sirish Auto which was the last stop before they headed towards Hyderabad yesterday.

Yes, there were a few pics in social media of these freedom drive cars, taken today during their journey from Bangalore to Hyderabad like the one below :

To me, Dark Blue/Black looks the best, followed by the Silver. Need to see the Red color physically before commenting, it looks too bright and a bit gaudy in some pictures.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I’m told by a Bengaluru dealership that they will start receiving cars in October (for display and test drive). Then the start of bookings and waiting period (in his own words).
Looks like this is going to be a long wait.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

With the high Gross vehicle weight and the powerful engines, any speculation on how long the tyres and brake pads will last?

I remember that the XUV 500 brake pads used to wear out in 15K kms. But tyres used to last about 45K kms. This is from a few friends who own the XUV500

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

At the risk of repeating myself, I have to say that if the AT is not available in the AX5 (petrol) variant, it's sure to be a dealbreaker for me! :( Stretching the budget for a fully loaded AX7 is not feasible and hence I'm hoping Mahindra doesn't play spoilsport with mine and many others' high hopes resting on the AX5.

Colour wise, I'd choose the Red mostly. The Dark Blue one looks smashing, but the upkeep would be a pain for sure.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Slight deviation from the AT and MT topic, do we have the FE figures available anywhere for both Petrol and Diesel?

Been following this thread from the start and did not see this question come up even once. Considering that both are turbo engines, would it be prudent to assume that the Petrol could give a highway FE <10 KMPL and Diesel around 12 KMPL?

I am basing these values based on the FE figures that were mentioned for diesel in the XUV500 thread.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Had been to the freedom drive here in Hyderabad but I was late to reach there. Sorry, I couldn't click any pics as they were almost leaving. As expected, the executives were tight lipped and saying the same info that we already know(bookings probably to start from 2nd October). The car definitely has a good road presence. I liked the red color very much in particular although couldn't get a glimpse of the dark blue model to really decide which is better. I could chat with a Mahindra executive from the regional office in Hyderabad but he too was not revealing much when asked for more details.

I checked with him about ventilated seats, cruise control in AX5 and auto dimming IRVM but he was not sure if they will be included and said that there are some changes expected in the coming month before it is finally revealed. Let's hope that they will consider public feedback and include them. I had very little time to see the car but the 3rd row really looks cramped from what I saw. The dealer representative who I knew mentioned that first batch from their dealership is currently undergoing training and once they come back, they will have more info on the car.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I don't remember any Indian car (maybe my memory is too short) that has created this much buzz even before people could take it for a test drive. Just look at how many people have crowded up (most don't have those gopros or any video cameras which suggest that most are normal people who wish to see the car in flesh) across a lot of showrooms (this one being in Bangalore) during their freedom drive, as if it's some celebritys arrival. This despite the poor marketing of the freedom drive schedules (especially for cities where the car came first, like Chennai and Kochi in the South Indian leg where many didn't know when and where to go to see these cars), does speak a lot. But yes, as IamNikhil said, blunders like lack of AT for AX5 can make all this hype become thin air in no time.

Take it with a pinch of salt but my 1.0L turbo CVT magnite gives ~7kmpl in heavy city traffic and ~15 on the highway. I am expecting the Petrol AT XUV700 to give ~4 in the city and ~10 on the highway.

XUV 7OO Freedome Drive Hyderabad

Happened to be part of Mahindra XUV7OO Freedom Drive in Hyderabad today with fellow BHPians kalyan_hyd, nitinralli, ecosport rules, shifu & newton_meteor . Car looked planted and very proportionate in every angle starting from the wheel well to the sunroof, rear door to front grill. The new logo is pretty good to me in the first look, some people found it odd but then they will get used to it eventually.

It is a 30 car rally that has happened here in Hyderabad with 4 colors in the show. Bright colors definitely stealth the show, starting with Red and Blue, Silver and Black are not to my liking but decent enough on road. Pictures and Event Video to take the stage.

Thank you so much for the first hand information along with videos and pics. The car really has an impressive road presence. All the 30 were AX7 variants or you got see see some other variants as well ?

Looks like AX 5 AT is confirmed, received this pic on whatsapp so can't confirm its authenticity.
