Just got a call from MG that a car has been allotted... Next steps are to accessorize and finance/lease.

Congrats! Good to know. Do you mind sharing variant and color details?

Was looking forward to some feedback on the 1.5 Manual. That's when this video came up on YouTube.

I test drove the 1.5 NA CVT and while it wasn't sluggish, I was still not entirely convinced. The 1.3, while much quicker and fun to drive, was getting into the 1.5 TSI budget territory without being as much of a performer.
That's why the interest in the MT.

Has anyone driven it and anything to share here? The YouTube video shared here is almost the only one on this combination. And with hardly any dealer stocking the MT for a TD, not heard of any observations on this.

I booked a red turbo AT Sharp(O), sangria red interiors.

Getting Mud flaps, mats, door sills, car cover, mood light, rear crash guard from the dealer.

Will get ceramic done along with ppf for the bumpers... Yet to decide on the grade/package.

Going with a corporate lease.

Mud flaps, mats, door sills, car cover, mood light, rear crash guard --> All these are included in standard accessories package, right?

I am trying to customize MG shield for Astor here --https://www.mgmotor.co.in/tools/customize-astor-plan

Does below plan look good? I am still reading on difference between classic and premium protection plans and what's not included in classic.

5 year/1L KM Warranty Price -- ₹17,600.00
RSA Price 5 years -- ₹2,900.00
Protect Plan Price (classic, 5 year/50k KM) --₹29,000.00
Total -- ₹49,500.00

Also not sure how good their RSA is.

Recently based on one of my friend experience he was stuck in the middle of night on a highway with tyre burst and alloys deforming. MG RSA was to rescue and was towed to nearest service center with out much fuss. There was a similar experience shared by someone, where he was stuck in Leh and MG towed vehicle all the way to nearest service center which was many KMs Away.

Insurance will have it's RSA (if opted) it's not that costly either. Having multiple options on a given bad day will only help.

Congratulations!

What insurance numbers have they finally quoted?
Are you negotiating on insurance?

The leasing company (ALD) will get the insurance. Not sure how it compares to the retail policy benefits.

MG India has delivered 20 units of the Astor to customers in Mumbai. Any Bhpians?

Could you pls share if possible the leasing terms? Down payment, monthly payment etc. For how many years? Is it possible to buy back the car post the lease period. And is this through your employer?

The corporate lease involves ALD, the employer and the employee getting into an agreement. The duration can be 3,4 or 5 years with either a buy-back or return option. The EMI is deducted before taxes, plus there are petrol and driver reimbursement up to 10k each per month. Of course, they attract a perk tax. There is no down payment from me, and insurance and maintenance are taken care by ALD.

Here's an article...
"Decoded: When should you lease a car rather than buying it - Times of India" https://m.timesofindia.com/business/...w/87484470.cms

My lease is for 3 years - for the top-end turbo shaep(O), the EMI is 63K. I opted for the buy-back, which means I pay them 4L at the end of 3 years, plus GST. Of course the resale value is going to be at least twice that.

I am still concerned about the reliability of MG cars. Can we trust them? Package wise it's VFM.

Anyone got delivery in Pune? Please share your experience.

Good walkaround video of the super variant. This is a well specced variant by MG, and all the exclusions can be easily supplemented by accessories. It doesn't have the gimmicky AI assistant as well which is a positive in my book

I wonder if they got a 20 HP more with the same 1.3L engine at lower revs, just by tuning it or is it a totally different engine. Check out this review of the ZS T :
