This is part of my action plan too this month.

Yes yes yes! I see it too. I first thought it was the collision warning, but later realised that's a whole different thing.

Re: MG Astor Review

Does the 3M film helps ?
Should I be worried about this because I feel MG has compromised the usability to make the interior look more sleek.
Let me know your observations on this when you drive on day light or park on scorching sun.

Re: MG Astor Review

So, I picked up barely used VW Taigun's 16" Belmont alloy wheels for the 'to be delivered next year' Astor style. Got them for 25k.

I know there is ample time, but I like VW / Skoda wheel designs and did not want to miss the deal.

Their 6J width is slightly less than the stock 6.5J alloy wheels, but should be fine.

Never wanted to upgrade to 17", because ride comfort is more important than looks, in this case.

Also did a photoshop job to see, how will they look. The Astor's Aurora Silver is more like a darkish grey, so hopefully, the contrast will look good.

.
Do recheck the wheel offset and PCD. I had tried to fit old alloys on my compass but the offset & PCD "mm" were wrong and made the ride bounce so had to buy alloys from jeep itself. Additionally with 6J try to use 205 max because more than that is not recommended.

Re: MG Astor Review

Hi Everyone, I have been seeing a lot of posts on social media regarding Astor 1.5 L manual engine's poor performance. They are mentioning that:
- engine isn't powerful enough to be driven on hills & is even facing issues going up steep ramps of the parking as well
- mileage is on lower side (<10 kmpl)

Requesting any existing owners on the forum to throw some light on this.

I checked, the minimum width for 215/60 R16 tyre is 6J.

The PCD is the same 100 PCD, so it will fit.

Re: MG Astor Review

Dear friends, after going through the thread and having test drives on both Turbo and CVT, I have decided to book Astor CVT top end with red interiors. Though ventilated seating and wireless mobile charger are a miss, the ride quality and the AI platform looks very good. I currently own Fiesta 1.6S bought in 2009 Nov still doing great but with connected technology becoming a necessity have planned to add the fleet.

Test drove KIA seltos, Tata harrier, XUV 700 and Kushaq, some way or the other Astor is both feature rich, good styling, solid build and drives well. Hope I get the same kind of durability and service which Ford gave till date .

I have booked Style variant in Bangalore on 20 Feb, but haven't received the booking/tracking ID. The SA told that dealers can take the booking but since bookings are closed in portal for this variant, there will be a delay in booking ID generation.

He also informed to not go by delivery date shown in the portal as MG is slowly increasing the manufacturing of this variant since they have a huge backlog for this from Northern India.

I am hoping he is right.

Amazing. This brings me to people complaining on the design aspect of alloys. Many hated the design of Taigun alloys or other aspects. When we go with design part, it is very personal comment and may not add value on a public forum. I too liked the design and happy for you to have got it on your Astor

Re: MG Astor Review

Upgraded wheels of Style Variant to Turbo Alloys.
Stock Apollo 215/60 R16 swapped with Yokohama Earth1 215/60 R17. Car looks stunning now.

Did a 534 Kms trip Del-Jaipur-Del with 5 passengers and boot full of luggage, overall fuel efficiency came out 13.7kmpl with AC on all the time. This includes 95% highway driving with 1 hour of jam.

Driving dynamics of car are good, has some power lag initially but gradually you learn to play with clutch and gear to be in powreband. Did not push too hard as it's less than 1000 kms but till 100kmph car was calm and composed.

Sound insulation and overall built is impressive.

Looks great!

But, the ideal upsize for 215/60 R16 would have been 215/55 R17, which is within the recommended range of 2%.

For 215/60 R17, the circumference has increased by 3.82%. Which means, your odo meter and speedo meter readings will show increased readings.

So, while calculating fuel efficiency, you will have to keep this in mind.

You can have a look at the upsize calculator here.

Saw this before upsizing however went for 60 as wanted a little higher profile. Overall I'm happy with upgrade as with 16inch car looked too small(may be in my mind) however with 17inch it gives an imposing stance.
