I know every new car has its own teething issues, however in Carens they just keep coming. The minute they have a solution for Turbo Lag they find new issue with ACU...good at least they identified this on their own and not through customer trial and error.

I also got to know that people get a ECU update (ACU DTC JUDGMENT LOGIC IMPROVEMENT) which should take 30 mins in all fairness.

Coincidentally, my Carens was at the SC today for first service. The ACU software update was done. As per service advisor, mine was the first one at that SC for this update.

Hello all, I recently got my Carens delivered yesterday ( 1.5 D AT Luxury Plus 6 STR).Will post a detailed review and ownership experience in a few days.
As soon as I found out about the recall because of faulty ACU I contacted the official customer support. As per him my Vehicle(manufactured on 05/09/2022) did not have any recall and I shouldn't be worried about it. He also said KIA will officially send an email and get in touch through phone if in future there are any issues about the same.
Has anyone else whose car was manufactured in September tried getting in touch with KIA or their SA's?

Re: Kia Carens Review

I have heard from a few sources that like most OEMs, KIA has started providing both smart keys with cars.

Anyone has any information regarding this?

Has anyone purchased a KIA recently and got both the keys?

I got confirmation from my SA that new Carens is coming with 2 smart keys. He doesn't have a date for when Kia will provide keys for people who received only one smart key.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Got a message from my Sales rep last week in Bangalore, that our waiting list number is now down to 49 and new thing which he added for the color we want the waiting list no is 21 for the same color and we are at 21 no. As we are coming to end of the year, if they say take it in end of November or December i would decline and look at 2023 as now it does not make sense to go for 2022 registration with just 2 months left this year.

Re: Kia Carens Review

8000km update.

At around 5900 km did the software update to address the sluggishness in 1st and 2nd gears and hill hold control. I have driven 2300 km post the update including a 1400km GOA trip. Here are the findings.

1. 1st and 2nd gear issue - Don't see any difference other than the rpm not nose diving abruptly. It was better before the patch.
2. Hill hold - The problem is still there although the car is holding the brakes everytime on the incline. But takes 1-2 second to roll forward even after accelerator input.

So technically I don't find the updates effective. KIA, please reach out to customers for feedback.

On the other hand there have been other unexpected significant improvements.

1. The car feels much smoother and the nhv levels have come down. I am not sure if it's because of the software patch or the car has gone past the run in period. Others can also confirm.

2. The FE has increased for both city and highway. in my recent GOA trip I got an average of 17.5kmpl including 15% city and 15% ghat sections. That's atleast 1-1.5kmpl increase. In city too I am constantly seeing 12-14kmpl which is atleast 1.5-2 kmpl increase. Pleasantly surprised.

3. There has been a significant error in the odometer where I used to find the actual FE to be always 1-1.5 kmpl less than the mileage shown. The delta has come down to .3-.5 kmpl.

I wish if KIA offers the headlight upgrade package. The current halogens are pathetic.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Kia has silently increased prices of Carens again.

The starting price is now 9.99L ex-showroom. Prices for 1.5 NA were increased by 40-50k depending on the variant. Prices for the 1.4 Turbo and Diesel have increased by 10-30k depending on the variant.

Woh, thats quite a hike to the VFM G1.5 Prestige model. Bringing the gap down on the G1.4Turbo. Looks like Kia is trying to market the Turbo more now that they have kind of solved the turbo Lag issue.

I've added launch price to your table. The price hike on the 1.5 NA variants is insane. Kia is slowly building a gap between the pricing of the 1.4 T-GDI and 1.5 Diesel.

Expect more cancellations now. As i am sure even for older bookings they will give at current prices. With the recent increase the value for money factor is going away for lower trims with 1.5 engine.

Re: Kia Carens Review

4200 km update

It has been around 75 days since I got my Kia Carens Diesel Automatic (Aurora Black)

Pros:
1. Engine is butter smooth. NVH levels are low. Difficult to observe when the gear changes except while climbing up on Cruise control when RPM shoots up.
2. Seating is spacious. For a family where no one is > 5'6", it is the ideal car.
3. Ingress and egress for elderly is not bad.
4. I was initially driving on Eco mode but when I started using Normal mode, I never went back to Eco mode again. Never tried Sports mode though.
5. People do observe the car on roads.
6. Enough luggage space with fu

Cons:
1. There is a huge difference between mileage displayed on MID vs actual mileage using Tankfull-to-Tankfull method. The difference observed is from 2.5 to 4.
2. The best mileage I could extract on a long trip ~ 325 km, fully loaded, driven very sedately and hardly ever touching 100, was 16.5kmpl. When driven in city+highway, which is my daily ride to office, the best I could extract is 14 kmpl. I used to get 19 kmpl from my Vitara Brezza on the same route.
3. TPMS is never correct. Even though all the tyres are set to same pressure, TPMS always shows a difference between them.
4. Head lights are worst. Haven't driven yet on highways at night but I dread that day (or night).
