You are right about this sedan being special! I am glad i picked the MY23 version with the discounts, makes it serious VFM.

I knew that this engine-gearbox combo was one of the best in the price bracket! But boy, now I am in love with it. I keep finding excuses to drive this car over my other cars.

I have driven only a 100-150 odd kms and my observations are:

1. The power delivery is very linear and smooth. It is just the right amount to have fun without being crazy! My 330Li has much more power but once you press hard on the accelerator it is explosive and it can get out of control.

2. The steering is super light and feels very easy to drive. The car feels chuckable.

3. Build quality feels robust but there are a few odd rattles here and there. The interior plastics seem inferior at this price point.

4. The music system is just adequate, the infotainment is laggy at times (reminds me of my TATA Safari)

5. The DSG gearbox felt jerky during the first few days but I am getting the hang of it now. Learning how to use the paddles to extract the maximum performance.

6. The car is gorgeous to look at!

Got the puddle lamps installed today at PPS Skoda, Mysore Road. They were ₹3999 and installation was not charged. Took about 45 mins for the installation. Looks really nice, especially in the dark!

My car is Dec 2022 model. With all of my old cars I used to top up battery water 2-3 times in a year. I don't see any such opening here in the OEM battery. Any idea how we do it?

Please avoid doing any such thing with a modern, new car. If anything goes sideways, you will void your warranty!

There is no need to top up battery water in a practically new car. If you feel compelled to do it, ask the ASC to do it for you.

The new batteries, they are not actually new now, don't have any openings to top up distilled water, they are maintenance free batteries and sealed for life. So don't worry about the battery, and enjoy the car, the only things which you should periodically check are engine oil and coolant levels.

I am yet to remove the air intake housing and find the slave cylinder.

The air intake housing is mounted by 3 rubber locks where you'll have to use a substantial amount of force to yank it out.



I'm not confident enough to use that amount of force until I see some videos on how it is done. I don't want to risk damaging the housing.

Before the air intake housing came be removed, one will have to release the clamp holding the air intake pipe.



I tried using a regular household plier but it ain't working. The force required to loosen the clamp all the while moving them towards you feels janky. You may see the nasty marks the plier made on the hose clamp. For this, I ordered a hose clamp plier from Amazon for Rs299. It worked like a charm. I'm grateful for these specialised tools. They get the job done. Not able to find the listing now. However, I found an alternative for reference.



Now, I'm able to release and move the clamp, great

I'm yet to explore further on this. I have to make a DIY clutch bleeder bottle with check valve.

I could get all this sorted by taking it to a trained technician of sorts but I want to do it myself. It is fun that way.

From, what I know, the clutch slave cylinder is made out of plastic and it has O-ring seals inside them. Delicate stuff. It is a common point of failure in many of these cars.

When we remove the slave cylinder along with bleeder valve, one will have to inspect the seals so that oil doesn't leak. I'm just trying to watch some videos so that I could visualize it.

TLDR the only progress I've made is removing the clamp

Great review. I have got the same 1.5 TSI but feel the lack of baas. Did you manage to install a subwoofer? Also, I am getting mixed opinion from service executives from different Skoda Showrooms regarding the warranty void if we install Sub-woofer. Do you know if it will really impact the warranty?

For example the LED headlight is around 27k while even Maruti LED headlights(Swift, S Cross) also cost around 20k each. I just got a new Slavia 1.5 TSI MT and confused with the actual life of brake pads in Slavia. I have read people changing brake pad at 12k while one of my friend has already done 40K. I understand it depends on driving style, but such variance is too much!

Also do you have price list of all Slavis spare part somewhere? Brake pads and brake discs for one side will collectively cost close to 10K INR. Does it make sense to buy the Enhanced SMP instead of Standard? The cost difference is 18k for 4 years and it will cover all four brake pads/brake discs.

I must confess, it little too technical for me to understand E2E. However, if you manage to get this done, please update the same in this thread. I will definitely try the same in my car, not by myself but by some skilled mechanic in Bangalore.

Congrats on your Slavia. I have clocked 15k kms in 16 months driven in different moods (sedate, normal & aggressive) . Mine is a 1.5 DSG. No symptoms or issues with the brakes till now. Just enjoy your new car. At the end of the day, brakes are a wear & tear part. Their longevity completely depends on one’s driving style (it can be any car for that matter)

I test drove the Slavia 1.0 and Kushaq 1.0 yesterday in Mumbai (Juhu, Mody Skoda)

Oh man, the driving experience was great! Not an expert so can't comment on specifics, but the feel was pretty darn good (rev'd up a bit on an empty road )

One thing I noticed was that while braking on the Kushaq there was a certain "noise" when braking and getting the car to a halt, it felt as if the disc break had some flap which was knocking around. The sound was NOT present when braking but then releasing the brake before car halts.

The sales man said this is because the first service was not done on the Kushaq which smells like bullshit to me.

That really turned me off and I didn't go for the TD of 1.5.

I also don't remember if the same thing was happening in Slavia 1.0 or not, I think there was no such noise in Slavia.

Has anyone faced similar issues like this?

Hi, I just wanted to update you on service related issues of my Slavia 1.0 AT Style (Skoda Slavia Review).

Service location is TAFE Access in Hosur Road, Bangalore.
The first service was ok. The second service had replacement of all sorts of filter, oil and AC treatment.
Post that i got a unique sound from AC. I have given the car to service again last week. its been 7 days and today got an update that this is a special issue not seen in any car earlier. This will be sent to R&D. I need to wait for 10 more days for warranty replacement to happen with all analysis first and later replacement.
I felt this is quite bad process since i am not having a car for almost 3 week. They could have replaced the AC unit and taken the faulty one for analysis later.
I took the car in 2022 with all the rumours or facts around it. Now i am thinking how the product will work for next 4 more years until i have the warranty.

Hi Everyone,

I am facing few issues in my car and need everyone's opinion on it.

1. I am feeling that the ventilated seats are not performing the way they did when the car was new (in 2022 and most of the 2023). This year, I am feeling that the blow of air from seats has reduced considerably. I have already visited the service centre of Saisha Skoda in Jaipur, regarding the same but in front of me, they just tested it by putting a plastic bag over the seats to see if it was filling up with air and when I insisted that it be checked in more professional manner and not through some crude method, they promised to clean the motor. I'm still not feeling any improvement. I have asked for the video proof of what work was done. They have denied sharing the same through mail and I am yet to visit the service centre to check again. In the meanwhile, any opinion on this will be appreciated.

2. This is kind of a frustrating issue and I am sure not many of you would have faced it. I have observed few places in my car which, in my opinion, are losing the paint. I mean, the paint has chipped off and black surface underneath is visible. Please bear in mind that most of these issues have occurred on the surface which was repainted after an accident (rear bumper and boot). I made my case at Saisha Skoda, Jaipur for it to be covered under warranty and that it be repainted but after weeks of discussion amongst themselves, they concluded that it was due to external impact.
Please see the pictures attached and let me know of your opinion. Please do notice that all these spots are far apart from each other and there is no rough surface around that place, which in my opinion is a natural thing to happen due to even a minor scratch. So if we have to go by the dealer's conclusion, I have managed to hit my car in some expert way that there is no rough surface, but the paint has come off.

If you have got it repaired under insurance claim then you can escalate the matter with your insurance provider. Warranty for a certain period is provided on the work carried out under insurance which can be reclaimed for rectification if the fault is found in the quality of the material used or in the workmanship. Sometimes even the paint shade difference is noticed after few days or few months and the workshop is bound to rectify that as well.

I hope this issue is limited to the plastic bumper and not found on any metal part. It looked like rust when I first looked at your pictures which worried me since I am firm believer that VW/Skodas do not rust since they use galvanized metal sheets. I have 13 year Polo and there is no sign of rust even on few deep scratches after so many years. I hope the VW groups is still providing the same quality in the new gen cars in India.
