Quite repairable in my opinion. Any body shop worth their salt will repair it. But ASCs will often push to replace panels which may not be actually needed. In the process, they will ask you to claim insurance, So check the impact of claiming insurance and take a call accordingly.

SVC motto is claim insurance and replace parts, they won't do any repairs and if at all, they will do a terrible job at it.

Suggest you consult a denting and painting workshop to fix the dent and touch up the scratches.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Thanks for the response. I have put an hold to my decision of taking it to the ASC, instead I'll take it to Alok Automobile. They're good at what they do, and I have given my other car, the Santro xing for repairs there. And regarding the amount ASC quoted, 45000 Rs for just the door. There are numerous other scratches. Will cost an arm and a leg to repair those at ASC.
I am just worried about one thing. Will this void the warranty? The car is only 6 months old, so I have a lot more years to cover . Will they use this to deny any future warranty claim ?

Having owned VW (happily) for last 13 years, I would suggest to avoid the FNG at any cost if you intend to keep the car for long. VW/Skoda use water based paint which hardly any FNG uses.

You can't compare a Hyundai with VW/Skoda. Didn't you observe the scratched galvanized metal sheet in your Skoda? Leave it unpainted as long a you want, it will not rust. There is no sign of rust anywhere on the body of my 13 years old VW. Did you ever see such quality in any Indian Hyundai? Their naked panels start rusting after few days. So it does not mater if you get them repaired at authorized workshop or FNG.

About the complete door replacement, that is fishy. The damage seems to be only on the outer panel which can be replaced if not repaired, still the cost won't be anywhere near the quoted amount.

If there is any kind of damage to the internal main door structure which is not repairable, then only the main door should be replaced. Try to get opinion of other senior bodyshop technicians at the same workshop, insist them not replace if its not damaged. Sometimes they do it for making extra money and usually car owners also do no bothers since the cost is beard by the insurance company.

Drawback of replacing the main door structure is that you are never going to get the feel of the factory fitted door back. That typical VW-Skoda heft and fit will be missing and high chances that the 3 stage door closing-opening mechanism will also not be same as past. If there is any other Skoda service station near you then try to visit them.

The expenses will be covered by the insurance so you shouldn't be worried about the quotation if its 4,000 or 40,000 or 4,00,000 as long as you are having the zero dep cover.

You also get warranty on the work done at the authorized workshop which is covered by the insurance company and the workshop. This is not uncommon to notice the difference in the paint shade after a month or two in case of repainting. You can get such issues rectified at the authorized workshop (Confirm at the workshop how long the repaired work is covered under this warranty, its for few months). But at the FNG, you will just get all sort of arguments and excuses. I once got paint of a repaired door panel rectified which started looking different after some time.

Man, I am still getting warranties on the replaced spare parts even on my 13 years old car. Usually electronic or non-mechanical parts are covered for 2 years. Once I got one headlight assembly replaced. The replacement unit also ended up with the same issue after few days, I got it replaced under the spare part warranty, though had to fight a bit since they refused it due to some scratches which probably were caused at the time of installation.

If your authorized service station is reputed one who adhere with the company policies then you have unmatched peace of mind for the works done at there. I even got some FNG messes rectified at my regular VW workshop, that too for the unofficial mods.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Dear members, recently got a 1.5 DSG and loving it 80% of the time and intend to write a brief post on that soon. While most of the annoying things have already been covered in this forum, additionally I have been hearing sort of a metallic clicky sound mostly in D2 and/or D3 almost always only when moving on slower speeds and in city limits. Surely it is coming from the gearbox, but has someone else observed this too or is it only me?

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Is there any chance of Slavia getting 1.5 TSI MT back in its options? As of now, the Skoda website shows 1.5 MT only against Kushaq Ambition (2 airbags). Hope this is just the old inventory.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

I recently did Mumbai to Goa and back during the Diwali week. Was a super pleasant drive and my wife and I found ourselves relaxed after the drive. The car was very planted, and became a different personality after 75 KMPH. The air conditioning was adequate and ventilated seats helped a lot. We’ve done the same trip in a Seltos CVT before and we were materially exhausted, perhaps due to the suspension and much higher body roll.

One question for the forum. We got an average of approximately 15.5 KMPL on the trip. Does it seem reasonable? The route we took was NH66 (majority is non expressway) and average speeds were around 50 KMPH.

Yes, this bothers me as well. The clicky sound doesn't feel reassuring while doing it's operation i.e while downshifting or upshifting between D1 and D2

Also, while going over bumps the unnecessary feature of downshifting makes it more pronounced with a jerk accompanied by that 'clicky' sound.

Thanks for the reply. Indeed, there is a jerk too although this was absent in the first 800 odd kms and oddly absent on cold start (or so I think, getting to know better by the day).

While I don't expect much without any error codes flashing on the screen, did you ever take it up with the service center at all? Or am I better off just living with it? This doesn't seem to be discussed much on this forum too, so I had a feeling this is not faced by all, albeit it takes the music and wheezing AC to be switched off to really hear it well.

Is yours a 1.0/1.5 MT/AT/ DSG ?

15.5kmpl on non-ghat highways looks typical for a 1.0AT driven normally (~95-100 kmph, not focused on extracting the highest mileage). The 1.0/1.5 MT & DSG in the same environment and driven the same style would probably give a few kmpl higher.

I'm just back from a 1000km Nilgiris round trip from Bangalore and I got 15kmpl on the non-ghat stretches. The 1.0 AT's mileage drops sharply in city bumper to bumper traffic and also in ghat section climbs, but good enough elsewhere.

Hello Fravia,
The clicking noise heard by you is neither isolated not restricted to your car. It's a part and parcel of the VW Dsgs atleast the few that I have driven and the one that I own. The sound is apparently from the solenoids which are a part of the DSG mechanism and the repeated clicks and jerks are a result of the gearbox's indecisiveness to hold the gear or shift one way or other, and this is more pronounced in stop go traffic or on inadequate paved roads. And believe me when I say that in bangalore on a my way back home in the evenings only two things give me company.. the radio station and this clicking sounds

Thanks. It’s the 1.5 DSG Style variant. Does the average KMPL seem reasonable?

Yes this is pretty good average for the 1.5. It is most economical when driven at consistent speeds especially between 90-100kmph.

The best mileage I have extracted on a highway drive calculated using tankful to tankful(auto cut-off) method is 17.69 Kmpl.

Now that the Kylaq is launched, is Slavia facelift expected soon? Any ideas if 1.5 MT will be back?

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Hello Bhpians, I’m looking to upgrade my Ford Aspire 1.2 petrol (Nov 2015 model) with Skoda Slavia 1.5 DSG prestige or Monte Carlo. As we approach the year end, I’m skeptical if there will be a MY25 model with few minor tweaks launched in Nov. Last October, Skoda added electric seats, footwell illumination and 10 inch screen with subwoofer with deliveries of MY24 model that began in Nov 2023. I’m anxiously holding off as I don’t want to feel cheated later on if I buy the MY24 model right away. Also, how much discounts that we can expect for 1.5 DSG lava blue prestige or Monte Carlo edition in Hyderabad?
