Re: Skoda Slavia Review

I am happy to acquire a brand new Skoda Slavia 1.5 DSG Monte Carlo Edition in white colour (Probably the first in this forum). The kit offered is equivalent to Virtus GT and I am busy reading every page on this thread to gain more knowledge. Posting some pics here for viewing pleasure.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Quite surprisingly my salvia which has Conti ucs has responded well to a tyre pressure change from 30 to 35psi. I am usually alone in the car so I was not expecting the ride to be better but it is!. The movement at lower gears is also a lot smoother with less lurching. I am guessing the vw/skoda test engineers probably did most of their calibration work at higher psi. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have been filling 34/35 from a long time and anything less than that makes the car too laggy at lower gears and always downshift for acceleration. 30psi is too low especially when you have grippier tyres and softer compound.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Hi Bhpians,

I went to enquire about Skoda Slavia 1.5 DSG in Hyderabad today and the dealer mentioned that they are fitting 360 camera as an accessory for 40k without voiding cutting any wires or voiding warranty. Is that an official accessory, has anyone fitted 360 camera in Slavia? I’m concerned about how the fit and finish of the 360 camera will be and also about the warranty?

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

No, this is not an official accessory . This is some 3rd party vendor product which fits vw and Skoda cars 2.0 . I heard that warranty will be honoured , if you are servicing the vehicle in the concerned show room where the accessory has been installed . Quality of these products is questionable in longer course of time

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Its a Blaupunkt unit and overpriced. Best go for a 70 mai or something similar and use the C port in the front.....thats what I am doing with my old unit from the (now sold) Honda City...they also have a dual cam one ....the power for the rear one being routed from the front cam , as I understand, so that there is no seperate power socket needed for it

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Hi BHPians,

I am confused whether should I opt for the 4 year SMP package (standard) for 1.5 DSG. It costs 32,999/-

And, as per the service cost estimator for 1.5 DSG, it works out to be way more now.
1st year : 4,593 (wow, really?)
2nd year : 8,225
3rd year: 7,222
4th year: 25,473 (, as transmission fluid to be replaced)
Totally, it works out to be 45,513.

If we include time value of money, this gap is not significant with 33k today vs. 45k in 4 years. The only benefit with SMP could be protection against any service cost hikes in these 4 years. What’s the general recommendation here, should we buy the SMP for peace of mind? I’m hoping that Skoda ASS will adhere to similar service quality irrespective of whether we opt for SMP or not?

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

After much research I have narrowed down the choice of Led bulbs for my Slavia to the Phillips ultinon access for the high beam and the ultinon weather vision for the low beam(both are H7). Both are designed to work with halogen reflectors and have no bulky adapters and fans. They also draw only 16w. The performance edge over the halogens is somewhat doubtful but the 3500k colour temp on the weather vision will ensure no trouble with the cops as well as being traffic friendly. They will also work well in poor weather. However I'm new to this Led conversion upgrade and am open to any advice from those of you who have already attempted it on your slavias. Thanks in advance. The upgrade to the oem led headlights is simply not allowed by Skoda even though it has worked quite well in a case on YouTube. The dealer who is known well to me says it is just not on the cards given Skoda's strict policies.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

After a lot of delays and hard work and some very good support from people, completed retrofitting PLA 3 - Park Pilot into my Slavia. Imported an ECU as well as the wiring separately. Also got tremendous technical support from Eurocar Retrofits who had done this earlier on a few cars. Now need to experiment what all this can do, will write a detailed post later:

Damn , that's one hell of an upgrade. Looking forward to see how this works out for you and also the possibility of doing the same in my Slavia

I was directed by a friend to Mr Anton of lightexpertz in CV Raman nagar. His work is expensive but he did an ace job with plug and play solutions for both the low and the high beam that do not blind oncoming traffic and still give a far better light pattern than the halogens. He also seems very committed to customer service and has a proper aiming screen for tuning the beams. The low beams are 4300k which give a somewhat similar appearance to the halogens and work well in rainy conditions.

When I enquired for a Slavia back in dec 2022 and they offered the service package for free.( I didn't proceed further) Shop around or haggle and see if you can get it for free or a big discount 😀

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

I am having a blast with the new car. It feels different in the city; soft and sedate but completely transforms to beastly mode on the highway, when called for.

I am completely loving the driving experience and my previous cars were Laura 1.8 TSI and Polo 1.6 MPI. I am enjoying the new age features, ease of driving and the performance from 1.5 TSI DSG. Only downside is some interior plastics which are easily livable with at the end of the day. The reverse camera could have been better though.

One other observation is that the stock alloy wheels width is 6j and the maximum tyre size it can accommodate has been fixed from the factory. It gives a baloony look which is visually unsettling. In comparison, Skoda Laura and VW Virtus alloys are 6.5J with the same 205/55/16 profile tyres. The sidewall looks proportionate and straight with the width of tyres looking wider. I wonder whether Skoda compromised on this aspect or this is the reason for its superior ride compared to Virtus. I am seriously contemplating whether the rims should be changed if the reasoning is merely cost cutting.

Will definitely do in my virtus when it is available from dealer thus not voiding the warranty.
Like 360 degree camera, this feature should be also be retrofitted, I hope, in near future.

That will never happen unfortunately. Thats why they offered a cheap aftermarket front parking sensor accessory.
