Re: Skoda Slavia Review

How do you set the trip meter for travel. In my old Honda you could set two trips different from each other. I cant seem to figure this out in the Slavia 1.5 MID. Situation 1 - For ex. If I want to go from A to B to C. I want a complete trip meter from A to C , and I want on from B to C.

Situation 2 - I am taking a long multi day trip, so I want a trip meter for the day ( which will show anyway), but I also want a consolidated one for all the days I travelled, lets say the 1500 kms I travelled in 3 days..

Hope someone can help me out

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Gents, time to upgrade my Verna.

Drove the Sportline 1.0 AT and was quite impressed with it.
Only irritating bit was the auto engine off/start and the touch AC (why!!??).
Hope it will get better as I get to use it.

Gear changes are really smooth - got a mix of bumper to bumper traffic as well as small bits of open stretches to take it upto 120 kmph.

99% set on buying it in January. (Not waiting for the facelift as I dont want ADAS)

Any advice please?

This reprogramming has resulted in a mighty fall in temp at the grill from 15° c before to 9.5°C now at a setting of 21°C( i might be wrong about the set temp). Anyone has hands on knowledge about the same? And does this mean that an official "software upgrade " is expected?
Thank you

Mine is an Oct 24 manufactured car and the AC has not been a problem in any way. I set the temperature at 22 and put it in auto mode, it cools as intended. However, Bangalore temperature has been chilly of late due to the cyclone effect. Got to wait and watch.

Hi Anand,
Bangalore, off late has been kind to its inhabitants, but there were days when I had to reduce the cooling to 18° on the HVAC. Now again, it might be personal preference, but reading your opinion makes me feel that skoda might have genuinely done the needful.
Waiting for the seniors to comment and verify

Before starting the trip, you need to reset the Long term to 0, this will have data for the entire trip (1500 kms as your example).

For day wise data, you can use the 'Since Start' option. This has a condition though that the car should be continuously running the entire day without taking break for more than 2 hours. After 2 hours, 'Since Start' data gets automatically reset.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Yesteday I put regular petrol instead XP95. I have completed 2500 km in two months and has been using only 95 till now from IOC....So far I have run 50 kms in regular petrol and I havent felt any difference except I feel the engine noise has become a little rough. Cant feel any drop in power / torque, and really not any noticable difference in mileage at all so far. So far I havent had a chance for a highway run to see the difference at cruising speeds. Once the tank is over I will switch back to 95 and get a comparison again.

Mine is a 1.5 DSG

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Guys need an urgent opinion
I had sent the car for denting and painting to the SVC. My father had claimed insurance for the same. There was a small scratch near the lower right side of the rear bumper , repairing and repainting of which the surveyor had given permission. However now they're claiming the rear bumper has broken and needs to be replaced. This has to be paid by us. I'm attaching the picture of the damage as well as the pics sent by them.

If the damage was done during the same incident and insurance surveyor has given the go ahead then why would you have to pay. Stand your ground sir & ask them to cover it under insurance, if they still deny then connect with some higher ups. Ask them if we have to pay from our pocket then what is the use of buying an insurance? These guys I tell you, they try to be oversmart in rejecting the claims, you just have to convince them & it has worked for me 90% of the time.

Bte, you replied a little late but thanks for clarifying. Father has already given the permission to replace the bumper. They said that they discovered it after the insurance was claimed and damage survey was done. Rs 4000 for the bumper, repainting they said will be covered by insurance.

Also do you have any idea whether insurance company covers a car only one side per job ? The lower portion of the left rear door has been bent. We wanted to get it repaired under insurance, but they said that they can cover only the right side, which had a broken fog lamp cover along with a damaged front bumper. Also they were pushing for replacement of the whole door under insurance. However when I showed a WhatsApp Chat with a FNG( Alok Automobile) advisor, regarding the dent being fixable, they said they will dent it only if we pay for it (₹20000 excluding taxes and labour charges). We have let it be for now, we'll tackle it some months later. Could have easily got it done outside, but the paint warranty is something we don't want to lose.

Another disappointing fact of Skoda is that they don't provide free service. When my father bought his Hyundai Santro xing new, they offered three free service, after that it was paid service. To get free service in Skoda, you have to buy the SMP, which is technically paid as well. Not that it's an issue, but it can make or break customer perception regarding service, with the general perception regarding the company is that they're expensive to maintain.

Again, that is a grey area, usually insurance companies cover damages on one side but if you are able to convince them that the damages were done in the same incident, they will most likely cover the repair. E.g. During the last insurance claim, I got my left rear door dent repaired along with the replacement of my right ORVM, I had to explain them over & over again that damages happened in the same incident where an auto & a biker hit me from both sides in a traffic signal, initially, the surveyor rejected my incident but I spoke to their managers and they agreed to cover it under insurance. Downside was, it took them 5 days to approve my claim & then the service centre took another 5 days for repair. Hope you get what I’m trying to say, it’s upto you, how good relation you have with your insurance guy or how good you are at making them understand your incident.

I’m not sure on that because I bought the service pack for 4 years then again extended it for 2 years, I have done the math, it works out cheaper for me. As far as free servicing is concerned, most likely it’s waiver on the labour charges but for parts, we have to pay at the end of the day. Do keep an eye, Skoda keeps running offers on service packs too & it turns out be a cheaper and hassle free option.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Fellow members, need your thoughts/opinion.

Had the most random/isolated incident now with my Slavia in the past 13 months/21k kms of Ownership, when my dad woke me saying the hazards were flashing in my car, as he was going out in his car a few minutes ago.

I went down and used the remote to unlock/lock the car, the hazards continued flashing. I then opened the door and saw a message on the music system screen which said turning off music system due to low battery. Then when I manually pressed the hazard switch button the flashers turned off.

I came home from office on Friday night and the Slavia has been parked since. My dad’s car is parked behind my car and he did not observe this yesterday night (Saturday) at 9pm when he stepped outside. So this has happened sometime between 9:30pm to 8:10am, when my dad noticed it.

I have no clue why this happened, my immediate reaction upon seeing the low battery message was to start the car and let it idle for 5 minutes. No other warning messages on the console. Mine is a 1.5TSI DSG Ambition, it came with the OBD dongle for connected car features but that has been disconnected and kept aside for the past year, when it fell out on a particularly rough road in Rajasthan.

I am not sure if there is some security feature or proximity sensor that activates the flashers sensing impact. Does the Ambition even come with this?

Posting this here to see if this is something to be worried about? As I don’t really want to wake up to a drained battery.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Have anyone put the skoda blaunkpunt dashcams from the showroom itself? How is the product, is it too bad or just overpriced for what it offers? How is the installation quality, does it leave any dangling wires in the cabin?
I am thinking of getting a dashcam, don’t want to do an aftermarket installation as i am a bit worried about the warranty.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Hi all, I want to buy a Slavia 1.5MT prestige variant (discontinued around sep'24). One of the dealers in my hometown has a unit readily available (lava blue with odo 145 Km).

Last recorded ex-showroom price was 17,49,000/- and after a good amount of negotiations I was offered 16,79,000/- ex showroom.

The dealer is not budging for to give discounts, I was told if I opt for a 1.0L MT/AT the dealer can match the skoda website discounts up to 2-2.4L.

I am very inclined to get the 1.5MT but price seems high, any suggestions/tips on getting the best price and what should be the target ex-showroom price I should be looking at?
