Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Got my Slavia delivered after almost squeezing everyone's lives out for a car since the 1.5 DSG seems to be some rare element. Based on my driving of my cousins Polo GT TSI, I can say that they have really toned down the aggressiveness of the DSG. Thats the reason the manual feels more fun.

The start stop system is too aggressive which I'm not liking one bit. Other than that the car feels quite good in all aspects.

Dealership experience was a huge roller coaster ride. But thanks to some modes of escalation who sorted out things for me and ensured things go smoothly. On the other hand, the feature changes and deletions were worrying. I feel the car is already overpriced and with another hike, missing out on the sub woofer, amplifier, wireless car play is just not done. If I hadn't got a May 22 car, I would have missed all these and probably would have canceled the booking itself.

Congratulations on your new ride!
1.5 DSG in Red color is super rare it seems. Even after more than 2 months, there is no sight of my car. I kept on following up with the SA for the last month and every time says he would revert soon which he won't do. I am fed up & stopped following him up. The news of a price-hike with feature deletion isn't wee bit encouraging.

I was told this month they got more of White, Carbon steel and Silver. Didn't spot Blue or Red. If you are interested in the car itself like I was, then better switch to a different colour. Otherwise you will have to live with the reduced features and increased price or let go of the car itself :(

Can somebody throw some light on this.
As I understand the gearbox change under insurance can be claimed only if the Engine and Gearbox addon coverage is added.

While under warranty, it should be replaced free of cost.

True Japanese cars (Foreign spec Toyotas) are mechanically sound, as they can survive the harshest of conditions, I disagree when the Koreans are mentioned in the same breath. For the record, the Koreans have poor reliability track records out here in the middle east.

For the record - I have driven the Camry V6, VW Golf R, and Hyundai Veloster N extensively. One thing is for certain, the Hyundai lacks the feeling of robustness that the other 2 provide.

Also, I have seen more VAGs with 200,000+ Km on the odo than Hyundais with similar or more odo readings.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

It is pretty intriguing to see some of the responses of BHPians on Skoda`s fiasco of switching infotainment from 10" to 8" and for rumors like Wireless charging and wireless apple car play being removed. My question to those is, how can one be so judgemental by calling it an outright downgrade without even physically checking it. Mind you there are no official images from Skoda on what this new 8" HU looks like but here we are bashing bashing bashing etc. No doubt this switch to 8" is outright heights of stupidity if and only if it is indeed a downgrade like Ford`s hideous attempt of replacing sync3 with fly HU setup in Ecosport.

So my suggestion to those who are on the edge of making a purchase decision of Slavia/Kushaq/Taigun is, if a variant of your choice is readily available at your dealer then go for it, no point in waiting for these so-called updated models. However, if time is on your side, don`t blindly believe Slavia updates are indeed a downgrade without even looking and feeling the car. Personally, check out the car and then make a decision whichever you feel comfortable with.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

16th March - booked the Slavia 1.0 Style in Red ❤️
26th May - cancelled the booking of the car

From the heights of excitement when I booked the first car I will ever pay for to sending the dreaded cancellation mail, it has been one roller coaster of a ride. As per my telephonic conversation with the sales manager at JMD Auto, price hike around ₹50k is imminent + 10 inch infotainment screen will now be an 8 inch infotainment screen - one clear disadvantage of that been Android Auto and Apple Carplay will no longer be available as a wireless option and the wireless charging option will no longer be available as well - I know Zac Hollis tweeted it won't be deleted but the manager told he had received communication from the company that it is going to be removed.

With so much going on already about the AC issues on the 1.0 versions + no delivery date in sight of the car + this stupid decision by Skoda to not provide price protection - I have finally pulled the trigger by cancelling the booking I made and now have to follow up continuously for the money that Skoda has already taken from me. In my earlier posts on the forum, I had mentioned that I was being offered every other week, a White Slavia instead of the Red I had booked due to various issues on Skoda's end. But what is the point of compromising on something if you're ending up paying around ₹19L on road in Mumbai and still feel that your first car wasn't the perfect one you wanted. Maybe this is the right decision, maybe it isn't but one thing is for sure - the hunt for a car which will be my first big buy is back on.

Re: Skoda Slavia Review

Wireless AA/Carplay and Charging should not be a deal breaker. Wireless charging heats up the phone and damage the battery. My iphone battery health was down to 85% in 6 months. So Unless it is a short trip you'd be plugging the phone anyways and enjoy a much stable AA/Carplay.

+1

We should be happy that 10" distraction is reduced to a 8" distraction. We are not OK to have a touch enabled AC controls which we change rarely, but OK with Touch Screens and digipads.

This is highly disappointing and we are planning to cancel our booking instead of compromising with an after infotainment unit. Anyone else who has got this update from their dealer?

I felt the same. I was just about to commnece booking for the 1.5 DSG varient and the news came in. Additionally, according to sales person they've also deleted amplifier and subwoofer from top of the line varients . Now if the rumors are true about 50000 rs hike in price, I'm going to stay away from it.

Congratulations and wish you many miles of happiness. Interested to know more on the comment above. Is it just the difference between the hatch and sedan configs? Like the Polo GT TSI felt better to drive than the Vento TSI by virtue of it being a hatch and minor other differences like a stiffer suspension, lower weight and had not felt any difference in the characteristics of the TSI+DSG combo itself between the two.

Do you think it is something similar or the DSG itself has been toned down?

The sub is honestly not a deal breaker. Neither is the overall sound that great. I’m not impressed with the audio quality in my Slavia. Maybe it’s me that got used to superior setup at home!

The price increase is the most annoying part after deletion/downgrade of features though.

Definitely. And I think skoda will also be annoyed after seeing their june sales figures.
