What they said is quite true , this is how I managed to get Red Slavia with 10" screen and woofer. I'm glad my posts were of help. If you need I can DM you my SA's Number , He was a straight shooter & to the point and most importantly kept his commitment without any surprises.

I don't expect going above 120. But I want to hear the performance in terms of overtaking etc where I had felt that 1.5 would be great.

Quote:
The 1.5 is powerful and yet fuel efficient. My 1.0 AT Polo gives lesser mileage vs my 1.5 TSI MT Slavia in both city and highway. So out on the highway, I can be at good speeds and yet yield some good FE with the 1.5. The way 1.0 reacts will make you drive it fast, but at the cost of FE.

If FE is not a factor, IMHO the 1.0 AT should be the choice. It has the ASIN 6-Speed TC vs the 7-Speed DSG on the 1.5 (known to be unreliable).
My understanding was that it would be the other way round - 1.5 would have lesser FE than 1.0. The brochures and SA also said that 1.0 will be better FE wise. Although, it doesn't matter much as our annual mileage is relatively low (my current Swift has just crossed 55k after 10 years).

Also wanted to call out that your posts, specially the Himachal trip are amazing. We converted from SUV to sedan after seeing posts like that.

How much is the difference in mileage between 1.0 AT and 1.5 AT?

So I spoke to your SA and there is contradictory info shared by the 2 SAs of the same branch of Tafe Access.
The 1st SA had said that anniversary edition is no longer available, now its called Lava Blue edition and that will have the 10" screen, wireless connect and subwoofer+amp. This edition will be available only in the signature Lava Blue colour. And there is 2 months waiting for the 1.5 DSG variant.

The 2nd SA (your contact) told me just now that anniversary edition can still be ordered in colours like Red, White, Carbon Steel etc. And that the Lava Blue edition (will come only in that colour) will have 8" screen and no subwoofer-amp because they have ran out of parts.

Utter confusion between the SA of same branch. Looks like they don't follow good trainings and information dissemination. My confidence with Tafe Access is going down by the minute. However, as the experienced BHPians advise that don't turn down a good car due to poor sales experience, I am still trying to get both of these SAs to provide me some sort of confirmation that what can be available.
Any advice on what sort of proof/confirmation I should ask from them for reassurance that I will indeed get the car with the 10" screen and features as per anniversary edition (I don't really care whether they call it anniversary or lava blue or confuse the customer edition).

Let me talk to the SA tomorrow and understand what's the situation. Hope for now your booking is still open for Lava Blue. Worse case if you have to wait 2 months then so be it.

TAFE Access mishandled the activation of the complimentary 4 years SMP package. The resolution that they provided, which involved a payment from my side that they agreed to refund, further complicated the matter; a brief of which I have mentioned in the previous post. I have escalated to Skoda management & have lost trust in TAFE Access . I think their team doesn't understand the Skoda systems & processes.
Word of advice: Don't believe any verbal communication, get everything in writing.

So on my usual runs to Chandigarh, Dehradun or Agra trying to maintain speeds between 100-110 KMPH (including slowing down for slow moving traffic). The Polo AT delivers 13-14 KMPL, the Slavia on its maiden drive to Dehradun to gave 16.7 KMPL.

Stark difference was noticed during the Agra trip, via Yamuna Expressway. Polo never gave above 16! Slavia at one point as per MID showed a cool 19.8 KMPL. Overall was 17.5 KMPL.

Note that Polo is AT and Slavia is MT, the 1.5 engages the 2-cylinder mode when you feather touch the accelerator. Heck even at 118 KMPH it engaged 2-cylinder mode. This helps returning good FE.

The Lava Blue edition is just the colour, with the 8 inch system and no subwoofer. I recently viewed a video on YouTube which clearly shows this. I had the same doubt and clarified with multiple showrooms around me (leaving TAFE as my car is already ready for delivery ). My SA told me the same that we can book anniversary edition at the time of booking, but, it looks like all the cars are done. They informed me after about a week that only one carbon steel was left and if I would opt for it. My wife and I went gaga over the red and were not ready to let go of the colour. We ended up switching the booking to a Red 1.5 Style AT.

I would not recommend crawling in neutral in a DSG gear box. In a bumper to bumper traffic situation, just ensure you move only when you have enough space so the clutch doesn't slip.

What is the reason for not advising crawling in neutral? Generally if there is crawling traffic on a decline I leave the car in neutral and let it roll down so that the transmission doesnt have to work during this time.

May be I wasn't clear. What I meant was during bumper to bumper traffic whenever it's not moving I keep the gear in N instead of D. However to move I always shift to D. Thankfully my route doesn't see much B2B traffic
