The drivability is were is miserably failed. For low speeds, the drivability is acceptable. The handicap clearly shows once you accelerate past 60. No matter how much I wring, this baby takes its own sweet time. On the 5 km drive on NH45, it barely touched 70. All this drama was with just 3 aboard and zero luggage. Compared to my current MJD which barely takes 500 meters to get to 80 even without the engine fully warmed up.

This baby can handle urban, semi-urban runs. I am simply not confident on doing highway runs with seats and luggage loaded.
Really really surprised. With 5 heavyweights onboard, (no luggage), we did 100-110kmph comfortably. Wouldn’t say It’s a sprinter, but it’s ok especially as you have long wide stretches of highways these days. City traffic- no sweat at all.

MJD is no sprinter either. It does the 40-100 very well. Barring a handful of sections where I can cruise toll to toll, I've had to slow-accelerate in the 4th-5th gear territory quite often in my highway drives. And this is where I find the XL6 lacking. The test drive was on the plains with zero gradient.

My concern is on spending 15L and then finding its going to struggle a Krishnagiri-Hosur or Metuppalayam-Conoor. The Carens Prestige Plus 1.5D retailing at 17.6L is a tempting proposition.

Pure urban driving is no problem at all, it does pickup the 0-60 quite well.

Was it the AT or the MT which you test drove?

Petrol 6AT is tuned for mileage. The throttle delay is intentional by the ECU.

Re: 2022 Maruti XL6 Facelift Review

I purchased an XL6 Alpha AT in July. I have so far driven 5200 Kms. In fact the longest drive was from Bangalore to Panna where we enjoyed the hospitality of Trojan. The vehicle itself is fantastic. I drive a Nissan Xtrail in Dubai and automatics is what I am used now. I had no issues with the car fully loaded, 4 adults and baggage as well. All talk in the forum about the vehicle is a bit negative I feel. I could easily touch speeds of 140 on empty stretches. Overtaking on single carriageways was done with no effort. The ghat sections were no trouble too. The ground clearance with full load was good. The road to bear valley camp can be a little difficult in small stretches and this was handled with ease by the XL6. So in my opinion this car is a good buy and I have no regrets whatsoever in purchasing this car.

Can you please tell us about the FE in pure city drive conditions, if you have the information?

I have finished approx 2000km in the city. Tank top to tank top I am getting a consistent reading of 15-16kmpl. However, mind you, I am driving on delhi roads which are, in themselves, like highways when compared with places like Mumbai, Pune or Bangalore. The one true highway ride I did (360km), I got 18.xx kmpl (majorly on cruise control at 90kmph)

Your concerns are valid, XL6 will do the highway stretch adequately but western ghats will give you some oops moments because of the automatic transmission. AT seems like it has not been through any hill testing.

Query : How do you disable the sometimes Annoying Suzuki Connect voice assist lady ?
When you are in the middle of some conversation it suddenly activates ..

This does not happen with Google Voice assist, which gets triggered only when you press the Voice long press button.

I got the delivery of my XL6 this month. The car is Fantastic. I am not peddle to the metal person and acceleration till 80 seems to be fairly adequate to me. Have not taken it on a highway till now. Only for short city trips. The mileage i see on MID is 8. But these are very short trips sometimes less than a kilometre hence I guess it's fine. But I am otherwise very satisfied with the car.

Agree with this. AT takes a sec to realise that we are trying to ascend. Once it does, it's fine but there is definitely something missing there.

I guess a mileage of 9-11 in Pune’s infamous traffic is good. Plus, my rides are always in excess of 10-20km. So I guess there will be a difference

Yes.. absolutely given the size of the car and engine. Close to 10 is fine in Pune's traffic.

I just downshift using paddles when I know that I’m approaching a steep incline.
