Indeed, have been told by the dealer that the Tucson's assembly is suspended for a month and will only resume deliveries after 9th Feb, also there is market news that prices will increase in Jan.

The eternal dilemma will therefore continue- silver lining here is most people have booked more than one car (can't blame them) so there's always going to be a cancellation shakeout.

Happy Holidays all

Tucson 2022 Service Concerns

I have been on the look out for a replacement for my Tata Hexa for the last few weeks. The only vehicle which perhaps might match Hexa in most aspects will be Hycross (Hybrid may not match 400Nm Varicor being the only exception).

Coming to terms with this reality (of the unavailability of a match for Hexa), I started looking for premium SUVs which are powerful enough. Tucson's engine really impressed me and so was the premium feeling it offered. Wasn't a great fan of its front grill, but it started growing on me and now I feel comfortable with it. I was thinking that the Hyundai service network is probably a plus w.r.to Tucson compared to any of its competition (Jeep, Skoda, VW etc) and I learned that I was wrong on that too. Tucson can be serviced only in Hyundai's "Signature" service centers. The technicians in other service centers are not trained for Tucson and nor they stock any of its spare parts. Also, Tucson being a CKD will complicate the problems further to the spare part availability. I'm not ready to spend 40L or more in any vehicle which may not get a good service support during my ownership period. Spending the same amount on a Jeep or a Skoda probably is more worthy because Compass and Meridian are its only bread and butter currently.

Also, there are no Hyundai genuine accessories listed in its website for Tucson. There isn't even a section/page given for Tucson in the accessory website (let alone parts being listed). Boodmo doesn't have any significant spare part listed for Tucson 2022. Will be delighted to hear what fellow BHP-ians got to comment on this.

Can you elaborate a bit more on this ‘other sensors’ please. I am aware of the warning for speed limits and schools, that’s available even in the Verna, it’s map based. But speed bump warning is news to me and definitely interesting. I did not know any vehicle of having such sensors. If you can shed more light on this, it would be super helpful.

About other vehicles, well the new S-class has them and it will automatically report speedbumps to the MBUX database where it also then show up as warnings on other Mercedes with cloud connectivity. I do not know of any Indian hyundai which has this feature.

It does warn me of speed bumps. But not sure what sensor it uses or is it from database. I was thinking that their camera which reads the speed limits and displays it on the Cluster, identifies the bumps also. I might be wrong also.

Nice, this is a compelling use case for Bangalore, the land of speed breakers! Just curious how early on does it warn you. Say you are doing 90 on the highway, does it warn you with enough leeway to bring down the speed considerably?

Till now, i have not taken it in the highways which has speed bumps. In Hyderabad we dont have speed breakers in the ORR. Within the city, i am getting warnings before 100m, approximately.

Am driving in Goa right now and within city limits, nearly all speed breakers are accompanied with road signs.some places there are two road signs for each bump - one warning of a bump up ahead and one on the exact location. The car very consistently alerts you of the upcoming bumps and also does it twice if there are two signs - so the speed bump warning is definitely based on camera. There are times when it does not alert you of a bump ahead and it is mostly when there are no road signs. Car had a nasty jump on the road yesterday when the speed breaker was not even painted.

The speed limit indicators also update everytime there is a speed limit indicator sign on the road - so again based on camera.

Children up ahead - it is a mix of maps based data and road signs.

Re: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review

My Tucson has been a victim of rat attack!

Background: Yesterday, while commuting to work, within 1km, I noticed “Check Engine” light was ON, only to realize that “Check Urea System” was highlighted later in a minute, quite surprised that the car is driven barely ~2700km and mostly on highways. Could not clear the error message (like you can, for low tire pressure) or scroll through the menus to check for AdBlue levels.

Inspection: After visiting the service center, they checked for errors using OBD tool, it showed an error for “Urea System”, cleared the error, but the warning message didn’t go away. As none of us couldn’t identify the AdBlue levels due to error message, they managed to top up only 1 liter of fluid, only then we realized that “Check Urea System” might not be for AdBlue levels, but some issue with the sensor or hardware. After checking the engine bay and underbody for possible issues, the AdBlue line tube was observed as tampered by a rodent and the fluid starts leaking once the engine is ON. The picture below shows that the line tube has been bitten off by a rodent.

Possible Solutions(?): The service center has placed an order for the AdBlue line tube, hopefully that should solve the problem, the advisor mentioned that the part costs approx. Rs. 16,000 and may need up to two weeks to arrive. I hope that’s the only problem, or am I missing something here?
People over here have mentioned various ways to protect car’s engine bay from such attacks, this attack is underbody. Need a really good solutions to protect my other cars from rodent attacks too. Admins and experts, please advice! Super frustrating as my travel plans have been stalled and won’t be able to use the car until the replacement parts have been installed.

Please claim insurance cover for this, instead of spending from own pocket. With labor cost added, it will be worth getting covered under insurance.

Sorry to hear that. Some years back I had similar problem. Rats had bitten off the fuel overflow pipe so fuel was leaking. Bosch service centre near my house gave a good solution for that. There is a Hydraulic Hose protection wrap available in the market. 2 types - HDPE and Metal sleeve. Both protect well.

I am not sure Hyundai ASC will fit it though. You may have to get it done at a multi brand service. Ask them to check all the exposed soft pipes and get them wrapped. It does not require the pipes to be disconnected.

Also try to use a repellent like this:
https://www.amazon.in/Rat-Repellent-...8A6UI52YC&th=1

I have not used but have heard that it really works.

Re: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review

Happy to be part of the community.

After driving (and loving) my i20 for the past 8 years, I've been looking for an upgrade for the past few months. After a lot of test drives, discussions and more test drives and more discussions, I finally went ahead and booked the Tucson Signature in September.

Those who've booked and still waiting for the delivery, is there any other way to know the expected delivery timeline beside checking with the dealer? The guy I was talking and had good connection with has left and the new advisor has little or no information around the deliveries.

Really looking forward to owning this beautiful beast!
