What is the price?
From the video it seems it is just glued to body and some screws that can be tightened from inside.

My 1000 KM service is due. Should I get the oil changed? I find mixed suggestions about oil change on the net and on this forum.

This a post from 2006 on this forum. Does this advice hold good on newer cars?

No anymore. New cars now come with synthetic oil from the factory

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi all, congrats all who’ve received delivery of their Hycross. I’m posting an ongoing experience with Nandi Toyota at Hosur Road Bengaluru.

I booked a VX hybrid may 1st week. At the time they said delivery would be within 2-3 months, and said that trending delivery time is actually 1.5 months. Ravindu Toyota said 3-4 months. I booked with Nandi and fell for the bait and switch. I contacted someone who knew someone at Toyota and they said my sequence is <25> estimated for October ‘23. I didn’t do or say anything. Just assumed that dealer would know better.

Come the 1.5 month mark, they tell me that my car delivery is updated to Jan ‘24 due to shortages. I didn’t do much again. Then they messaged me that the sequence number is <35>, which ticked me off as I’d heard it was <25> with October delivery from a guy at Toyota. Why is it <35> now? I’m chasing the dealer and Toyota for an explanation but so far it’s radio silence, which makes me feel even more suspicious.

Is anyone else going through something like this? I heard dealers can’t modify the number, so I don’t know what to believe.

I’m so glad that I’m on the other side of this mess. Toyota needs to clean up their act and their dealers. The process is opaque. Dealers do allow some to get quicker deliveries.

An online transparent process controlled by Toyota directly may help. WOW website seems to be the beginning of this.

No, all expensive cars come with synthetic oil from the factory now, including the hycross.

Bought a Duracell cable as was recommended in one of the replies here. But, still no good. It frequently disconnects and comes back on its own. Definitely disconnects on receiving or making a call. Have to take it to the Toyota guys to figure out the issue . Not sure if this is an iphone specific issue or happens with Android too

The safest bet would be to get the original apple usb-a to lightning cable. You might want to buy/borrow it and test it.

An alternative is to use wireless CarPlay and plug in using the usb-c charging cable just to charge.

I am able to use CarPlay, wireless and with an old apple usb-a cable, flawlessly. The only issue I face is the phone getting hot. Also, when I connect with the cable, I have to manually connect wireless CarPlay the next time. I have started waiting for the wireless connection and then connecting the cable just to keep the battery topped up.

From apple support page

5G, LTE, 4G, and 3G service on GSM cellular networks support simultaneous voice and data communications. For all other cellular connections, you can’t use internet services while you’re talking on the phone unless iPhone also has a Wi-Fi connection to the internet. Depending on your network connection, you may not be able to receive calls while iPhone transfers data over the cellular network—when downloading a webpage, for example.

This shouldn’t be the cause of the issue.

1. Most networks are at least 3G.
2. With non wireless CarPlay, the cable is the one carrying data to the car display

The problem could be with the units in the VX which doesn’t support wireless.

That's nice but what does this have to do with carplay disconnecting? Carplay wired or wireless doesn't run over the internet.

Suggestion is to use Original Apple Cable (USB: Type A to Lightening) I am using it in my VX and Apple car play works absolutely fine for me. No issues faced whatsoever.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

CarPlay frequently disconnects in many cars, no matter which cable we use. It's a common problem, and there's no easy solution. Personally, I had to buy a dongle that turns wired CarPlay into wireless, and it's been working fine since then. Just to check, I bought an official Apple cable to see if that was causing the issue, as the dealer kept arguing with me, saying it was the cable's fault.
For some people, the issue does get fixed when using an original Apple cable, so it's worth giving it a try. However, if that doesn't work and you rely on CarPlay frequently, consider investing in a Carlinkit device that can convert wired CarPlay/Android Auto to wireless. If budget isn't a concern, you can also opt for an Android AI Box, which offers additional benefits such as video streaming. Another option is to upgrade the entire head unit to an aftermarket one, which may come at a higher cost if you want to include features like a better quality 360 camera unit, improved speakers and tweeters, or a subwoofer. I recommend the trusted brand Nakamichi's 10 inch unit, as it works flawlessly. Here's a video about it.

It would be a highly worthwhile upgrade for GX owners, and VX owners can also consider it if they find their screen too small or if they're unsatisfied with the camera quality. Additionally, it's a good option if they desire better-sounding speakers along with a subwoofer. However, for VXO and higher models, I don't think this upgrade is worth it, considering they already paid a premium to have the stock 10.1-inch system with average-sounding papercone speakers. Even the JBL system doesn't sound properly tuned.
