Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Has anyone been facing an issue with the connectivity of Apple Carplay?
I have been needing to forget device and repair everyday.
It does not get connected otherwise.

Are you talking about wired or wireless carplay? I have used wired android auto for a few hours so far and it worked flawlessly. I used the original USB cable that came with my phone since I knew that it needs a good quality cable, cheap charging cables may not work or may not give a stable connection. Most of the time google navigation + music on apple music was being run along with occasional calls.

Sadly, android auto is not wireless in this car. A SA had told me that Toyota has disabled this feature due to frequent disconnection issues. Seems like this is a common issue across other cars (I mean different makes/models). This is somewhat similar to what I have heard about ADAS in this car. It has automatic emergency braking ability, but it has been disabled due to more annoyance/problems that it may create in Indian context than the safety it offers. I would leave this emergency braking alone, but I hope we come across some hack/hidden setting to make android auto work wirelessly, like this one to roll up windows/sunroof (Toyota Innova Hycross Review).

BTW, @cresterk, is it possible to do that automatically on lock/unlock rather than manually? I had installed relays in my earlier cars to do this and was even considering doing it for hycross (before I came across your hack!). Technicians at the dealership told that it is not possible with this vehicle due to auto up/down window control buttons. Later said that it can be done for windows but not for the sunroof. Though those relays are not so common and cost peanuts, I must say that it is such a cool and convenient feature to have in any car.

On yet another note, I have ordered a bunch of accessories, mostly for the exteriors. I have short listed a couple of options for below items, but any good suggestions? :
1. side steps
2. rear bumper/bike protector

I want these to have preferably nothing or very minimal at most chrome treatment or steel/aluminum finishes. The car already has enough chrome both what came from factory plus accessories that I will be adding, therfore plain black paints or black plastic/rubber coated items would be best. Both of these items should be sturdy, in terms of the main structure and more so for the mounting brackets and other accessories used for installation! If anyone knows, then please provide any online links or references to shops in Bangalore.

Mine is a July manufactured car. Have not faced any issue with wireless carplay connectivity so far. In fact, i connected my phone during PDI and that is it. The connection is seamless so far.

Hello Bhpians

Could anyone provide insights for the Hycross GX Non Hybrid "Festive Edition" over further details as well as launch timeline, along with what other things we can expect from it ? Information on price increase ?

I too have a ZX(O) and the spare tyre is indeed a Bridgestone, the rim has a sticker saying max 80kmph. I was not talking about the rating of the tyre by Bridgestone, rather what Toyota is recommending how we should use it along with the regular tyres on other three wheels.

Well, initially when the sound came was actually wondering what it was as I didn't really feel it was a tyre burst. Thought it was something to do with the rear seat (wasn't even sure whether the sound was from inside or outside). It was the rear passenger side tyre that had the issue. Btw, I was in the middle of a quick overtake and was perhaps doing around 100kmph. The overtaking went fine and realized it was tyre burst when the TPMS started showing the warning in a few seconds of air pressure in 20s and shortly there after to 10s then single digits and zero. All this was within a minute or lesser of the sound I guess. Drove to the nearest Petrol pump which wasn't too far away (might have travelled a kilometer or so with zero air pressure on TPMS) for a safe place to change tyre. Btw, when I replaced this tyre with the spare tyre there was a very clear difference in ride quality, which was particularly felt by the rear seat occupants, even when the speed was much lower than 80kmph. Don't know if the air pressure on this spare tyre was correct, but looking back, I thought that the regular tyre even with zero air pressure perhaps felt less troublesome to my mind. Btw, keep in mind that I had to travel around 10kms or so in the spare tyre for the nearest puncture guy (that showed up on Google Maps).

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi Team, I booked my Hycross (Silver) - VX on 21-02-2023 at Nandi Toyota (hosur road, bangalore). I was told that the vehicle delivery will be within 4-5 months. It seems the expected date of delivery extends by a month everytime I ask the sales person. I saw some email id to voice our concern with Toyota upper management. Could some one please reply to this post? Also, in my case since the sales executive was not available in Nandi Toyota, the sales person (Mani) from Nandi Toyota, Bannerghatta road, assisted. Not sure how different it would be in terms of the waiting time. Nevertheless, the wait feels unending to get this vehicle (almost 7 months over). Any feedback with Nandi Toyota Hosur or Bannerghatta Road would help as well. (This would be my first vehicle from Toyota)

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi Fellow members,

Need your assistance in choosing the showroom for booking VX model in Delhi NCR. I want to book at the showroom which wouldnot push me into taking accessories, insurance(from them) and is transparent regarding delivery expectations. I dont want the car this year and would want 2024 manufactured model, thus planning to book now.
Any leads from hycross owners in NCR region would be appreciated.

Thanks

Since i've bought it via Galaxy Toyota Moti Nagar, i will certainly recommend them. However, i believe none of the Toyota dealers will push provided you are ok with delivery timelines.

Accessories, add-on, Insurance etc items are generally pushed when priority delivery is required. I'll recommend while booking Hycross, do confirm the same to SA & if possible take it in writing and then wait till your number comes.

If the tyre is capable, I am curious to know- what are other technical reasons behind such a restriction? I would imagine that differences in tyre width/wheel weight relative to other wheels may cause some imbalance when spare is being used as one of the front wheels. When it is used as a rear wheel, I don't see why it should matter much at all. 80kmph sounds too conservative unless it is a weak tyre (which doesn't seem to be the case here, apparently going by the rating). Can someone throw some light?

The major difference is indeed tyre width (~10%). So perhaps I should have tried disabling Traction Control and seen if the ride quality improves.

If any one tire is different from the rest (width or overall dia), this creates an imbalance of forces between the left and right sides of the vehicle. This imbalance puts extra strain on all components. Also, different dia means different rpm of the individual wheels. That damages the diffs, axles and messes up the working of ABS, stability and traction control systems. That is why companies specify this reduced speed limit when using a dissimilar sized spare wheel, to keep everything within acceptable limits.

The speed rating of the tire (T or S or H or V) has no role here.

All this becomes irrelevant when the spare is the same size as the other 4 tires, which is an ideal scenario.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

width is smaller by ~10% but diameter is almost the same, just 1.5% or so less. I wouldn't expect any manufacturer to give a spare tyre that isn't within acceptable limits with respect to it's diameter relative to other tyres. That would cause major issues, especially if mounted on the driven axel.

The User Manual clearly states to use the spare only only in the rear. If the front tyre has an issue, it asks to remove a tyre from the rear and use it in the front and use the spare in the rear.
