I am also surprised that your dealership did not add injector cleaner in addition to the oil, oil filter, gasket replacements.
I guess we need to read the fine print and the references as well. If you see the item 11, it also says "see notes 5 and 7". Note 7 makes it clear that it is only for specific countries and India is not mentioned. See screenshots below:

Interesting! I wonder what is special about the fuel that is sold in these countries.

We have thought about following decisions:
1. Stick on to VX, especially since 6 airbags are available in this from now onwards. Just for Sunroof (which kids are crazy about, but decided to drop due to cost/benefit), 10 inch screens and less effective fog lamps (available as accessory), buggy wireless carplay - did not feel the worth of 2.5 lakhs extra spend.
2. Changing color from Black Ageha to Super white. It was always confusing as to whether Pearl White or Super white is to be selected. Any comments would be great. What I learnt is that Pearl white is more novel, and involves 3 coat of paints including a glitter feel in outside. Super white is normal white paint, which may be easier to maintain later. In most fortuners and innovas, I have seen many cars on the road with a yellow fade in the white cars - I felt sad to see that, but I am not sure what color it is - is it Pearl White or Super White that turns yellowish over years of use?
If you want to choose between white shades only then I reckon pearl white looks better. Normal white hycross in low/mid variants might resemble a taxi. Since pearl white is a bit costlier than normal white, it's not used for commercial purposes as much. I really liked pearl white in old corolla, yet to see a hycross in that shade so can't comment.

Not sure how it is at present, but earlier GCC nations had lower octane fuels widely available and even now I believe the regular petrol in Saudi maybe of a lower octane than the regular available in India.

Hey guys!
Any news on the flex-fuel Hycross yet? I heard about it in a podcast last week and was wondering if there is any additional information available online. There's hardly anything in the articles.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I am owner of Hycross VX and it’s a wonderful car.

But I want to share some of the shortcomings in the car. Some are very serious issues and some which are there but can be ignored

Serious issues
1. Headlights for Highway driving in simple terms are simply inadequate. I have seen many people trying different alternatives to overcome. Since it’s a family car and is usually driven on highways. Have driven on a 6 lane highways and felt inadequate, god forbid if I have to drive on a single lane without divider. Headlights are sealed and they can’t be augmented for better lights.

Fog lamps as per users is useless and provides no value

2. Apple wired car play in VX is now a known issue and Toyota has not been able to resolve it yet. Wireless CarPlay adapter works ok.

Minor issues
1. Left leg sometime feels uncomfortable resting against the central console
2. Ambient light or that Led tube looks odd and doesn’t provide enough lux
3. Horn for such a car seems inadequate for its size.
4. At Empty fuel level, even if you add 5-7 litres of petrol it still remains at empty level
5. No written car guide
6. Spare wheel not alloy and a different size like other manufacturers taken to cost cutting
7. No way to switch off lights, it’s either auto or ON option
8. Air damn gaps in bumper are wide enough just like Virtus and condenser might get damaged easily in highway speeds with even a small stone.
9. Tumble 2nd row seats could have been provided for even better access to last row
10. 360 camera resolution could have been better

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Finally got the delivery of my Hycross ZXo on Wednesday evening and took it on a 600 kms drive with my parents yesterday.

Dealership experience : WORST EVER . The attitude of the people at Anant Toyota Indore has been obnoxious and I am going to escalate my complaint in the coming days. Even at the time of delivery nobody knew the features of the car or bothered to explain.
Because the car is in such high demand their behavior is such that the customers are to stand in front of them with a begging bowl.

Insurance : First quote received from the dealer was 1,40,000 which came down to approx 90k eventually. I got it done from the bank directly for 73k (includes everything, hybrid battery also)

Accessories: only got the boot mat. the rubber mats for the rest of the car felt overpriced for the quality on offer. a bike protector is something i might get soon.

Comfort : Absolutely amazing. We were 3 of us on the drive and for the first time ever we were queueing up for the backseat.

Drive : Smooth. Gets noisy under acceleration. Did not get tired.

ADAS : Found the lane keep assist a bit too intrusive. adaptive cruise control was good but will not use it regularly.

Fuel economy : MID shows 15 kmpl. will know after i tank up. Speed was mostly in the 90-110 range.

Headlights: Driving back at night was complete torture because of the headlights. The brightness is poor and the throw is concentrated on one small spot. I think my old Ford Figo had better headlights.

Has anybody here upgraded the headlights? if yes then please recommend what to do.
Also, please suggest a good online store for accessories like good quality rubber floor mats.

Thankyou.

Congrats on your car! Can you elaborate on the insurance part and what you mean by 'got it done from the bank'? Which company's insurance is this and does it specifically mention that hybrid battery is covered?

On the headlights part, I see this is a common problem that many are facing. Wonder what the solution is!

I am about to get GX variant delivered by end of month. Any suggestions on cabin interior accessories to make passenger comfort same as higher variants?

I think the best solution is to form a forum of HyCross owners and put together a common formal representation to Toyota about the issue and get them to respond as to why this is the case (environmental/ battery/ design/ work in progress/ oversight/ some other)

Also, get them to provide a proper solution either free of cost or alternately as a chargeable upgrade.

Let me know your thoughts.

Given the seriousness of the issue (as called out by many), possibly this should be a discussion in itself.

@subbarp, sounds like a good idea, though not sure how effective it is going to be.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Retrofitting laser-type or HID projectors is the best option if one is looking for practicality. I would recommend FE Retrofit's Hella G5 55W Series warm lights. I have been using them for a few years now in my Nexon and had the same in my Prado. The MRP of the unit is Rs 24k, and it will cost around 30k including fitting by a professional. I got mine done at Reflectionz Car Care in Aluva, Kochi, which is very well known for its lighting solutions in the state. It's 100% worth it and as far as I know, these options doesn't void the warranty.

Even the fog lamps could be improved alot with a superior 2-inch aftermarket projector. Here's some examples I found for the fog lamp retrofits:

I should be getting my VX in 2-3 weeks, and already jittery thinking about bad lights. In Kerala most of the roads are single lane without dividers and with rains battering down almost half part of the year, its a nightmare driving even with good lights. I cannot imagine the situation without good lights.
If we are formally grouping and lodging complaint, it could get some seriousness is what I hope. There should be some media attention, is there a twitter ID (X) where multiple people can join the tweet and acknowledge it with tags to Toyota India management.
Also if Kochi Nippon customers can group and pass formal complaint to Nippon - that may also help, never know.
