This is why Sunroofs are dangerous. Please see this video. Hycross’s sunroof collapsed suddenly while moving on an open road.
I had a similar experience with the rear glass of my skoda rapid. It was not exposed to extreme conditions but one fine day after 4+ years of ownership it broke apart with a bang into multiple pieces. I was told that there must have been an air pocket which could have caused it.

Nonetheless, the breaking of the sunroof is indeed scary.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Quick question on the camera view and parking sensor - when i am in bumper to bumper traffic with cars/bike moving around close, the screen keeps switching to camera view with parking sensor screeching. Is this normal? I tried toggling the on screen button with an “A” on it, but didn’t make a difference.

How do ascertain the build quality of Innova Hycross? We are evaluating between XUV7OO and Innova Hycross. The lack of NCAP rating for Innova Hycross is concerning and additionally the build of XUV7OO seems solid.

Even I was in the same dilemma few months ago, but went ahead and booked Hycross trusting Toyota build quality and reliability, hope they keep up the trust.

Most of us have taken a leap of faith relying on the Toyota brand name. I got into an accident where I rear ended a panic braking Sonet at 60 kmph. The vehicle was driveable even though the radiator and AC pipe was bent. The bonnet was also bent a little but not too much.
I feel Hycross is not as sturdy as an XUV though.

In 2022 year end, I was also in same dilemma, Even I had booked XUV 700 AX7 Diesel Automatic and I went to take the delivery on 2 Nov 2022. But to my surprise, the car was not ready and had many paintwork issues on complete body. The Service Center and Sales experience of Mahindra was pathetic. I rejected the car straightaway and rushed to the Toyota showroom to book Innova Petrol AT. 15 days after booking Innova, Toyota dealership informed that Innova Hycross Hybrid is coming soon. I took Innova Hycross Hybrid VX delivery on 1st March 2023 and I must say that I am a very happy Customer. Completely satisfied with the sales and service experience from the Toyota dealership.

Buy XUV 700 if you are okay with low resale, if need more power and if you are okay with extremely less fuel efficiency. XUV Petrol's Average is around 6 to 8 kmpl. The 3rd row seats are strictly for kids below 7 yrs of age. The boot space is minimal and the service experience is still a question-mark in many cities.

Buy INNOVA HYCROSS HYBRID if you need a proper 7 seater. If you need a peaceful, smoother and rich driving experience. Innova is more comfort oriented and it gives a far better mileage then any diesel 7 seater in its segment. I am getting around 18kmpl on highways and 20 kmpl in city.

If you drive more in the city and you need a comfortable ride, Innova Hycross is the car for you!
Even if you drive on highways and you need comfort over that adrenaline rush, still the Innova Hycross is a better bet than XUV 700!

Decision is all yours!

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I am facing a strange issue with my Hycross which has run about 14k kms.
Whenever the car is parked for more than 4-5 days and then when I start and put it in reverse the rear wheel does not move freely at first it shows some resistance and then loud noises come from the rear brakes/disc as if something is preventing the wheels from moving, this started happening recently, has anyone faced this kind of problem?

This is common across all cars. In AT when you move the lever to P, parking brakes get applied (which are normally on the rear wheels only) and remains so until you move the car out of the P mode. A combination of dust, grime and humidity ensures ever so little corrosion and the brake pads fuse with the disc brake. You will notice a similar behaviour in cars with manual hand brake too - keep it pulled up for a few days and you will experience the resistance and thud. I have a habit of keeping the hand brake applied and early on I was also startled by the thud and resistance (This was a Tata Indigo). When I took the car for a service the SA informed me that this is normal and causes no permanent damage. Its been 23 years and I still drive a manual car and I still apply the hand brake. No damage to any of my cars as yet

As thead mentioned, the rear pads tend to fuse with the discs because of water and humidity. This happens in my manual Elantra as well which is parked in the basement. I have stopped applying handbrake since the car is used less.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I am facing issues with 360 cameras. One fine day, rear camera view started showing very blurry image at left and right sides. It was rainy and a lot of muddy water had splashed all over the car when I noticed it for the first time, so thought the camera lens could have become dirty and hence tried cleaning it, but no change at all. After a few weeks, I am seeing large blurry spots even with front camera. This is not in the form of bands on either sides, unlike rear view. It is more like a few random spots scattered in the middle area. Looks as if the camera lens has foggy patches or has water drops on it. Just like the other camera, cleaning did not help. So, unable to figure out what the issues is.

Has anyone faced such issues? What could be possible causes (and solutions)? Can daily cleaning somehow cause such issues by any chance?

I am planning to get 360 camera on my Hycross GX. Dealership quotes 36k for the installation of 360 cam. Has anyone done it yet? Wanted to know if the price is standard.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I am planning to buy a ZX variant of the HyCross. Is a facelift expected in the next few months? If so, when is it likely?

Thank you for your inputs.

I don’t think there will be any facelift coming anytime soon, maybe after 2,3 years.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Anyone who has installed the dashcam provided by Toyota, could you please advise if there is any user manual available? I find it extremely difficult to connect and use the device. Once connected the videos and photos are ok. However, cannot figure out how to get to the required images quickly.

The model number is not known to me, but it is branded Toyota and purchased about a year back. I think, there is only one standard model available.

Another query is, how to get a wider area coverage on the cameras. Is that possible to change?
