Yes, of course.

In our case, we had booked in Pearl White colour though I was keen on getting other colours like Black or Blue but dad, the primary user of this car, was more hell bent on getting Pearl White colour over any other colour.

On the other hand, our Hycross Hybrid has completed 45,000 Kms in 15 months of ownership.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Given the unscrupulous ways of the dealers coupled with a complete hands off approach from Toyota in addressing questions and grievances, I am also gravitating towards cancelling my hycross bookings.

I wish Toyota had done better than this.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

The family Innova while still running like the proverbial Swiss watch was closing in on 10.5 yrs and 260k km of loyal service. At this juncture I receieved my orders to look for a suitable replacement.

My first choice after a multitude of test drives was the Hyundai Tuscon which was easily the best riding and easiest to drive option. The discounts being offered were beyond belief so I won't mention the amount here. They were also offering a better deal for the Innova exchange. Toyota were offering ZERO discounts on the hycross and made no commitment to delivery schedules initially. The hybrid variant was ruled out since any efficiency advantage will not be reflected well in a combined cycle and the price difference I felt was excessive. The Hycross while being a monocoque construction was still cumbersome to drive compared to the Tucson.

Standing against all this was the gold plated commitment to customer service which we received from the particular Toyota dealer's service team for 10.5 yrs. Even if I showed up at 9pm with a malfunctioning headlight, it would be fixed after calling back an advisor and technician. The family car would also be driver driven so the yatch like dimensions were not going to bother me too much. Hence I reluctantly recommended the Hycross. The booking was made and the Innova exchanged.

The model chosen was the GX option variant which was the petrol only car with a bunch of features thrown in to distinguish it from the lower taxi style variants.
A 360 degree camera feature, alloys, etc came along with the GX(O). The fact that I was a loyal customer who payed without fuss for every expensive service bill worked in my favour with delivery happening hardly a month after the booking. The car was registered and delivered to us without a single scratch, dent or any other blemish. As an auto engineer in a previous avatar, I made sure of a careful PDI fro my end but honestly with Toyota that is not a compulsory rite of purchase.

The car has so far been bullet proof with 500km on the odometer. The steering is super light at low speeds which makes up for the xxxl dimensions. The all round discs are a treat and bring a added active safety advantage over the old Innova. The led headlamps are quite hopeless in highway conditions especially when it rains. The stock halogens on my Slavia are far far better despite the lower application height. The biggest advantage over the old Innova has been the ride comfort which leaves you fatigue free after sitting in the captains seats for hours together. This is where the monocoque construction plays it hand. As far as driving manners goes I am still a sedan devotee and find no fun in driving this oversized hatchback suv cross Our family like many has a plethora of health issues and the Hycross so far has been a godsend in terms of taking the pain away from the daily commute.

Thanks

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Need help on linking my hycross RC card on Digilocker.

I noticed that toyota VIN/chassis typically ends with ~MMYY Digilocker unfortunately is treating the ~ symbol as an invalid character and i tried skipping this character but it is not linking.

Has anyone here tried adding Toyota RC card into Digilocker ?

You can add by skipping the ~.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Query to the Hycross owners: Have you seen a difference in the tyre pressure reported on the TPMS and the air filler gauge at a tyre shop?
I was filling nitrogen in my Hycross tyres and the mechanic said that if he sets the pressure on the machine to 27(psi), it will show 33(psi) in Hycross TPMS, but if he sets it to 33(psi) on the machine, it will show 38-39(psi).
I thought it would be best to accept the reading on the machine and asked him to fill till 33 psi and it actually is showing me 40.
Anyone here experienced a similar issue and think this can be an issue?

Of course, you will have to budget some 3L for battery replacement whenever it comes up, but even with that factored in, it's a great car for someone looking for a comfortable and elegant sedan. Here is the bill for battery replacement (I was given 7% discount by the dealer) - March-2014 model with 1.28L KM, battery replaced during July-2024.
Thank you so much for sharing! As fate would have it, all the cars I was eying on, in Mumbai were sold by the time I could return to India and mange a test drive.

I am now deciding on getting a 4X4 AT Fortuner. It will be a no nonsence car for the next 10 years and I wouldn't have to worry about a thing before picking up the keys and going on road trips!

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Saw the accident images of Hycross which is appalling. Since we don't know the crash test safety rating for Hycross it's concerning too. Pasting it here as not many have seen the other post.

What happened to all those ADAS features? If and when it does get tested will it even get 2 stars? Or is the outcome just the result of a huge truck and a tree that any car would have become like that.

Requesting experts here to kindly analyse and give us their opinions. Very sad loss of lives.

Let's not jump to any conclusions, it was a very high speed crash and no normal road car can take an impact like that safely. I am certain that the Hycross would do well in the crash tests, remember that the light weight Etios also did very well a decade ago, despite what anyone would gauge judging by its light build.
And I'm saying this as someone who can never imagine buying a Hycross, I am far from a fan of the car

Not trying to deflect blame but apparently the drivers were intoxicated before setting off on the merry ride. And ADAS features are turned off by most of the people. This is precisely why ADAS was incorporated. People seem to place more value on their rear bumper than their lives. I agree India is not very conducive to ADAS, but if the car has such option, it is better to adapt our driving style to help ADAS help us.

The inbuilt TPMS is very accurate since it has actual pressure sensors inside each wheel and it is not simply guessing the pressure from ABS data. Even a 1 psi difference is reflected almost immediately.

That tyre shop gauge was wrong. Many of them calibrate it to read less than actual value so they can charge you for pumping in air or using it as an excuse to take your tyres off and check for punctures etc. I had the same thing happen to me and I went home and checked it with my trusty analogue pressure gauge and the reading matches what is shown in TPMS. That mechanic knew their machine was wrong which is why he said that when he realised your car had TPMS.

Most probably his machine is not calibrated. I get the same reading as the meter. You should remove some N2 to get the 33 reading on Hycross TPMS.

Not mentioning the cause of the accident which maybe facts or rumours, but more than double the speed of what NCAP crash tests are done plus rear of a container truck plus hitting a tree/pole. Nothing is going to save you. Not an S class or Volvo or new fangled Tesla.

That said, Toyota really should crash test their cars for Indian market. We just have the Etios crash test and the ASEAN NCAP extrapolated to the indian market ones. Ofcourse, unlike other manufacturers, Toyota and Volkswagen has earned the benefit of doubt.
