I’m frankly disappointed with this report from ACI which seems anything but what’s the on ground reality - would have been nice for them to validate with what’s actually going on. Here is the update as of the last 10 days that’s gone down with 2 close friends in Mumbai (first hand info).

- Aug 2024: Two of them had booked top of line Hycross ZX variants with a 1 lakh down payment each.
- They were promised delivery around / by Feb 2025 (latest March).
- About 2 weeks ago both were informed that as per updates from Toyota India HQ, they will now expect delivery sometime in October 2025. (Who’s to say whether they meet this timeline too). No ask for “top money”. Just apologies - no car to deliver.
- Incidentally, one of these chaps currently owns two Crystas bought from the same dealer.
- Neither was in a mood to wait - both went and picked up an outgoing Camry each given the strong discounts running on it. Neither cares much for the incoming one as they prefer the (relative) value offering at the current rate for the outgoing Camry nor do they like the looks of the incoming one anyway.
- One of them even retained the Hycross booking saying he'll pick it up anyway next October (to replace one of the older Crystas) but he really needed one more car sooner regardless.
- It’s ironic that Toyota is in fact not even losing out on their business and no wonder they carry through with such impudence.

I had previously written on dealer level malpractices around Hycross sales here.

While this instance may or may not be more of the same (I don't know and can't say) but at times like this, Toyota India releasing information like the above through conventional media channels would only add insult to injury for people suffering their inordinate waiting periods. If the waitlist is out of control and inevitable, that’s one thing - at least don't come out with misleading press information like the above at both Toyota India as well as dealer levels.

Off Topic:
For anyone interested in the outgoing Camry right now, they managed to close this (2024 models) below 47 lakh on road (MH plates, not BH) with some minor additional stuff thrown in. The finance scheme was also very attractive at just 2.99% (whether 3, 4 or 5 years - only condition being no prepayment I think - I can check details).
I will link this information in the Camry thread too for convenience.

On the other hand, Invicto is available with ready delivery in most colors with discounts of 1.5-2 lakhs. 1 lakh MSSF discount, 25k exchange bonus and dealer discount of 50-100k. No starry airs, proper and prompt response.

Terribly offtopic, but why the one year wait for the Vellfire?

Agreed it is a CBU, but is it due to the 2500 units/year import quota? Which again, isn't a problem as only the Vellfire is imported by Toyota now.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I think Toyota is the only company which directly publishes the waiting period in their website.

https://www.toyotabharat.com/toyota-...ery-lead-time/

There could be some variation at ground level but blaming them even after publishing their capability openly is not right IMO. However, sure it is a roller coaster ride from booking till delivery.

I know a person who booked in April 24, got a written commitment of March 25 and verbal confirmation for August 24. Exactly in August, vehicle was offered but could not get delivery due to customer side issue.

Again another one was offered in October and he is about to take delivery in November.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi,

Has anyone got a roof box or a load bearing roof rail installed on their HyCross? Preferably one which is a bolt on and doesn’t require any drilling.

Any guidance would be appreciated. I have the VX trim.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

After my initial poor experience with Espirit Toyota at Bhubaneswar, today I went to Capital Toyota and must say that I had a much better time with them. Nothing fancy but atleast the people dealing with us knew how to talk to potential customers.

After the initial good impression, went ahead and booked the 8 seater VX (O) variant with them in pearl white colour. Have the blackish ageha shade as a secondary choice if they could allocate it faster. They were also kind enough to show us the colour options in person in their attached service bay.

The waiting period that was quoted was around 1yr for hybrid variants but the sales advisor mentioned that if he got hold of some vehicle sooner he can allocate the same to us. I don't need the car immediately anyways. So, I am ok with waiting for a while.

Reasons why I booked Hycross that too without a TD:
  • Well it's hard to even see the vehicle here. One can forget about TD
  • The trust on Innova as a brand. We have had a number of long distance trips done with taxi Innovas (old gen & Crysta) and have always been mighty impressed with the comfort & space on offer.
  • No other vehicle in this price range is a proper 7 seater with somewhat usable boot space.
  • Closest competitor that I evaluated was XUV 700 but my family rejected it due to poor back seat experience in a 20min test drive & some software glitches like the reverse camera lag. Ownership reviews in Team BHP also indicated about software glitches. I admit when I checked the TPMS the readings were way off the mark but my family has a taste of the kind of comfort that Innova has and poor first impression of XUV did push us towards spending that extra for Hycross.

VX (O) has decent features from a driver's perspective. Cruise control, cameras etc. Not as much as XUV but still isn't that bad either. We booked it over VX because honestly every other vehicle comes with sunroof these days and we too get to brag about the size of it after spending over ₹30 lakhs on a vehicle (stupid reason? I agree)

Lastly I have one query for the owners here. Is it necessary to get insurance from Toyota? The price they quoted is way too high in my opinion (₹1.25L). The sales guy did mention that I can have one from outside but most of them won't cover hybrid batteries.

Not true, there are covers available outside that include hybrid batteries. If in doubt check with the insurance company in writing.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

My 9-year-old XUV500, with 90,000 kilometers on the clock, had to be retired due to Delhi's 10-year diesel rule. After saying goodbye in October, I turned my attention to the Innova Hycross. However, as many have mentioned, the wait times are quite long. Despite visiting dealerships across Delhi, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh, the shortest wait was 3 months, with some stretching to 7 months . While I appreciate the dealers' honesty about the wait, I've decided to purchase the car from my hometown in Himachal. Hopefully, I'll receive it sometime between March and April .

Mine seems to behave erratically (I have a HyCross VX).
I have a VX(O) and the TPMS system has worked flawlessly so far. Clocked about 8000 KMS and at every pitstop, tyre pressure has matched with the electronic meter at the pumps.

Infact it seems godsent for poor souls like me with paranoia about having the right tyre pressure. With my Honda City I was constantly stopping to check tyre pressure while taking off on irregular surface as I tend to confuse the imbalance with tyre issue.

Has anyone taken delivery of Hycross ZX or ZX(O) variants booked after it was reopened for booking at the beginning of August?

Thanks for the update. So nothing seems to have changed on ground. I still see 8 months waiting period quoted by Toyota for Hybrid models, though it was showing 13 months few weeks ago.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Finding BluRay

The Why:
Trusty Figo neared 10 years in 2023. Though it is still fun to drive, aging is inevitable and growing kids means more space, eventually lead us to our hunt for our next car. As per the conventional graduation from hatchback, we started with sedans. Slavia was the front runner followed by Honda City. However, due to overwhelming brands and models in market, we passed a little and did a logical analysis of our need and possible candidates. The process of selection continued along with model reviews mostly based on internet.

The How:
We did the analysis on three part.
First, the need for up-gradation are clearly identified.
Second, the brands are analyzed and rated on a 5 point scale.
Third, the cars are analyzed and rated against our needs. Wherever possible, real-world numbers are used instead of rating scale.

A) We started with 'why', everyone in the family had a say and 'logically' concluded that a car is needed with what are we looking for in the new car.Toyota Innova Hycross Review-why01.jpg

B) All brands manufacturing at India are listed and we did a fare rating against the important elements in terms of owing a car. Of course, most of the rating are based on my T-BHP interactions. Toyota, Suzuki, Honda and Kia were the leaders as per our analysis
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-company02.jpg

C) All possible cars are listed for the third analysis and the rating done against our need. Finally, the HyCross and Invicto emerged as the preferred ones. Mostly, the Seat/Boot flexibility and FE tilted the scale towards them.
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-car03.jpg
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-car04.jpg

The Which:
Once the model was finalized, we went through innumerable YT videos and finally landing on T-BHP. I literally read each posts in this thread while taking TDs multiple times to observe points remarked by T-BHPians. Finally, we zeroed on VX-8 seater, as we are not keen on sunroof and every other feature (excluding ADAS) can be added on later per our convenience.

The Whom:
For dealership, though we started with Wasan – Panvel, we also checked with Millinium Kalyan and Lakozy Thane with separate TDs, but ultimately settling on the home turf. What I observed is that all these dealers are neither ignoring you nor over committing, just that it felt like a B2B transaction.

The When:
Finally, we booked VX-8S in Blackish Ageha in 22 April, the day I got BHP membership approval, and joined the invisible waiting list. On paper, the committed delivery was March 25. But verbally committed within 6 month. Since already I knew the waiting list game, I reverted to them only in August and to my surprise they offered one within a couple of days. However, I was skeptical and let it pass.

Again it was offered in November and I went ahead for delivery.

Typically, the allocation process starts in 1st week of the month when dealers get allocation list from TKML for the month. Dealer then posted in WA group and I confirmed. Paid some amount and processed loan through them but in my preferred bank. VIN details were received by end October when vehicle started moving from TKML, Bangalore factory. Meanwhile, completed accessory list with my preference though there was some push back to get their standard accessory also. Once vehicle landed at Mumbai, planned for PDI. Utilized Zekardo for PDI.
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-pdi05.jpg
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-zakardo08.jpg

After successful PDI, cleared loan disbursal. Insurance took long to negotiate. Dealership offered Toyota Protect through Chola MS and I pursued HDFC with features almost same. There was a lot of push back from their insurance team, however finally they offered with lower amount.
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-insurance06.jpg

After almost 6-month wait, BluRay (nickname selected after a mini contest within the family) was delivered on 13th Nov. to our content, with 12 KM on the ODO.
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-bluray07.jpg

Thanks to the 3489 posts in this thread, the car never felt alien. Each feature reminded a BHPian who either lauded or regretted it.
My initial observations:
1) Apple Car Play (wired) connected effortlessly and Music, Map and Calls are experienced to be top notch.
2) Even the connected car App “Toyota iConnect”, which was activated on Day 1 by the dealer, collecting and showing exact data.
3) I didn’t felt lack of power while driving in city. Yet to drive on highway.
4) Horn also felt OK for me.
5) MID settings done and working precisely.
6) Toyota dashcam working good.
7) Even headlights are also throwing adequate illumination.
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-headlight09.jpg

There are few additional accessories, like side step, GFX mat and ZX brown leather seat covers, I will be opting either during 1-month service or outside.
Thanks for this thread and its contributors, BluRay is home and will be there for a looooong time!
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-final10.jpg

(It’s funny that when we parked BluRay in front of Figo, this is how she looked !!)
Toyota Innova Hycross Review-figo11.jpg

The Whos:
My earlier skepticism on delivery process were cleared by T-BHPians, thanks to dezrskb, PrasadS, CEF_Beasts, in sharing their booking insights.
My SA Mr. Akshay tagged along with us on all our requests, scepticism and bridged us with their internal teams to make it happen.
Thanks to PrasadS for Zekardo PDI details

Parting with a pic of BluRay in the wild during its maiden run.
