Hello Raj - dug. this up form a old post which is even better considering my query.
I am also thinking of getting the Stek Action 80 from the dealer and was not sure how it would go with the cops in Bangalore? From the time no sun films rule was announced, I have not had it on my car. Have you had any trouble so far? How is the performance? Would it be possible to post a pic with the film on to get an idea of how dark the Stek Action 80 series is?

They are barely noticeable(transmits 80% light), I dont think pics will do much justice due to the glare. There is that greenish tint which is similar to top end Hycross or Glanza which comes with UV cut glasses

Here are the specs.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

So, my Windsor has tyre sized 215/55 R18 and hycross has 215/60 R17. Are these interchangable?

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

A few questions to Hycross owners.

a. Has anyone updated the head-unit software in the past 8 months? If yes, what is the version?
b. Is there a way to open the boot door from inside the cabin?
c. should underbody coating be checked (and recoated if needed) during the service?

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

hi BHPians

I have booked a Hycross ZXo variant in dec 25. Officially have been told 8 months waiting but they informally told will get in 4 months if I finance from them with some accessories.

1. Is there a lot of difference between taking a car loan on own or through Toyota(they would be ok with bank of my choice but loan thru them)

2. I currently have baleno 2016. have heard numerous complaints about Hycross headlights, lack of power etc on this foroum. I expect the Hycross to be better than my baleno in all aspects including the ones which some owners complaint. Can anyone clarify

3. Which accessories are must and can buy from dealer itself and which from outside.

4 How long would it take to adjust from manual to auto (have driven only manual for 20+ years)

Thanks in advance

1. It depends on the interest rates. A simple emi calculator will tell you what works out better. Also check if they charge you a larger processing fee if you go through the dealership.

2. Yes, the headlights can be a bit of a problem if you drive often on wet roads after it has rained. They work fine in most other situations if you drive only as fast as your headlights allow you to.

It is a fairly powerful car, but it is best experienced with a chill motoring style. If it is your thing though, you will be leaving Creta diesels, Scorpios, Thars, Safaris and Crystas (pardon me if I have missed mentioning any other tailgating, light flashing usual suspects) for dead if you step on it. XUV 700s and C2 segment turbo petrols are faster though.

3. Up to you really. Body related stuff is okay bought anywhere. We bought some token accessories only to placate the dealer and maintain goodwill (saved a tonne on insurance by buying it outside).

4. Takes no time, really. My retired MIL got used to the car after a few long-ish drives in and around the city. A couple of long out of town drives do help to fully understand any car though.

They had the parts ordered for another Hycross but the owner didn't turn up in time for the repairs and the parts were used to repair my car since I had escalated the issue till the senior management. They initially changed the driveshaft for one side, but this did not solve the issue. Then they made the changes on the other side which ultimately solved the issue.

Since then the car is running absolutely fine by god's grace.

Hope this helps.
Hey Abhishek,

How's the car doing post the driveshaft replacement?

Asking because our Hycross, which was bought in Jul 2023 and MFD in Jun 2023 is facing the problem since the car had run 33k Kms and as of today, the odo reading is 55k Kms in 1.5 years of ownership.

Apart from our Hycross, my dad's friends, who bought Hycross ZX(O) during the same time, were affected by this issue.

When I spoke to my dad today, he told that he had insisted the Toyota ASC, where we get our car serviced, to replace them under the warranty, to which they have obliged.

Will update the thread once my folks get the driveshafts replaced.

Also, the car will be due for tyre replacement in another few thousands of Kms. Which tyre should I get? Thinking to get Michelins, but costs 12.5k per tyre for 215/60R17 while Yokohama Earth-1 of same size costs 10.5k per tyre.

Willing to stick to stock only.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I've got a Toyota Hycross ZXO, and I'm really enjoying it, but there's one thing that's a bit of a bother: it doesn't have wireless Android Auto.

If you've installed a wireless Android Auto dongle, I'd love to hear about your experience. Which one did you get? Any recommendations or things to watch out for?

I'm hoping to find one that's reliable and good value for the money. There seem to be so many options online.

I am using MSXTTLY U2A (iOS and Android version) in my HyCross VX for past 3 months and is smooth with iPhone 13. This is stick version so minimal intrusion. Some micro second delay is there and a little distortion in display resolution, but both are hardly noticeable.

You may go through this below thread for experience from Android phone users also.

As a fellow Toyota Innova Hycross owner i cannot hold my anguish why i need to spend more money on a 30+ lakh onroad priced car risking warranty, RTO fines inorder to make it safe to drive at night.
I find my 10 year old car with stock Halogen setup offering better night time visibilty than Hycross. And when it rains the stock LED lights fails miserably on my Innova Hycross. Toyota should consider giving a proper headlight with correct color temperature, projector setup etc to fix this safety hazard as an upgrade or risk loosing customers for their cheap cost cutting measure.

Thats the thing, risk loosing customers. Toyota knows it is not going to loose any, hence it is not bothered. It’s the same thing with the non illuminated power window console or the el cheapo quality of plastics which just does not befit a 30L rupee car. What else can be expected in a monopoly situation?

Wasan guys are also saying they can't issue a allotment letter with the Engine no and the Chassis no written in, as the car will be dispatched after 10 days, and they want me to make a payment in 4 days. My worry being that I make the payment for the base items only (negotiation of Insurance pending which they've quoted 2.7 lacs. It was some 1.7 lacs 6 months ago in their quote). I also don't want the PPF from them and the other items in their Extended 2 lacs package). Did they additionally charge you some ~15000 for RTO processing fees?

Happy to hear further. In case there are posts on the above topics by you/ others that I've missed before this message, happy to get a link to read through. Thanks.
Not sure if it is late but don't transfer the entire amount unless you get engine & chassis# in writing. 2.7 Lakhs for insurance is just absurd, there's too much fat in that quote. Take your own insurance and ask them to match it; I know Toyota insurance is on higher side but 2.7L is too much. For reference, when we bought our Camry in Dec'20 (Ex-showroom - Rs 44L), Toyota Insurance was at 1.3L, so I can't imagine how a lesser valued vehicle's insurance cost is more than double

As for PPF & accessories, pls don't waste your money on the dealer. The 15k logistics charges are also not valid & you should try to have it taken out. I've never paid all these charges for all the vehicles that we bought.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Yes, Unfortunately in India Innova sits in its own segment with no competition to date . Toyota Innova Hycross may be a competent product but cutting cost at places like not giving a suitable Head light setup which is as important as any critical safety component of an automobile is not expected from a company like Toyota. Personally I can live with a bland and cheap looking interior but safety on road is something I don't want to compromise after spending considerable amount of hard earned money. Hopefully Toyota will at least fix this Head light issue in future product updates.

We can always be hopeful. Till then, one has to rely on aftermarket solutions like projector fogs or octa projector headlamps. Personally, I’d risk the warranty rather than risk my family’s lives due to poor illumination.

Been there, done that.

Check the comparison I had provided in below post. Wasan matched HDFC in my case. I also was confused regarding their payment demands, but nothing to worry about. They have a well established system.
1. Advance at the time of booking
2. Another advance amount once vehicle is allotted and informed through WA
3. Processed car loan
4. VIN received, Vehicle was seen, PDI completed
5. Loan disbursed
6. Paid remaining amount
7. Took delivery

Roughly, the lead time was one month from allotment to delivery. Hope this helps.
