Good decision. I have these in my Nexon and use fog lamps now, mostly.

In my first year I had Toyota insurance issued by SBI and claimed couple of times for windshield replacment and dent repair. Due to this the renewal quote was high. I got a good deal from Tata AIG (Saphire+++). So went with it. I also had the same dilemma about the battery. I insisted to sales rep that I need an email confirmation. So someone with tataaig email (supposed to be sales manager) sent email confirmation. So I renewed. I claimed a minor repair, that went smoothly. Third year renewal also went with Tata AIG.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hey everyone! So, I finally got my Hycross ZXo HEV Variant this week, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it. I had my mind set on getting XUV 700 vs TATA Safari and was dismissive of Hycross as it was at the back of my mind its a taxi like INNOVA CRYSTA. The only reason I went for Hycross is Team BHP foroum and this thread especially which helped me to decide and go for the hycross. Please feel free to ask any questions or doubts.

PRE-DELIVERY: I waited three months after booking to get my car. To speed things up, I opted for financing through a bank and insurance recommended by Toyota. The sales associate was super helpful throughout the entire process, from booking to delivery. I ended up with a loan at an 8.5% interest rate, which was slightly higher than the 8.3% I could have gotten directly from the bank. The insurance cost me 2.5L for three years of comprehensive coverage, including zero depreciation and engine protection. I also added accessories worth 35k. I paid the initial booking amount and then made a down payment of around 10L using my credit card, which helped me rack up a lot of reward points (though there was a 2% fee for using the card).

DELIVERY: Picking up the car was a breeze since I had completed all the necessary paperwork in advance. The whole process took about an hour. I brought along a driver to help me get the car home since I had never driven an automatic before. After signing a few documents, I took the car and drove it home. The accessories weren’t available at the time, so I had to return to the dealership a week later to get them installed.

The accessories included a front under-run, rear under-run, chrome side protector molding, ORVM garnish, and mudguards.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE: I’m absolutely loving it! I started driving the next day, gradually increasing the distance. I was a bit nervous about switching from manual to automatic, but it turned out to be much smoother than I expected. I now realize how much effort I used to put into driving a manual. My left leg has a rest area, so I don’t miss the clutch, but my left hand still instinctively reaches for the gear knob when I slow down. I just need to get used to holding the steering wheel with both hands.

The driving experience is smooth, and I hardly notice when it switches from battery to petrol unless I check the MID. It’s a big vehicle, and the transition from a sedan to an SUV/MPV has been manageable thanks to the various sensors it has.

ADAS
a) It features a 360-degree camera, which, while not the best quality, effectively shows nearby obstacles and vehicles, making it easier to navigate tight spaces, heavy traffic, and parking.
b) The blind spot monitoring system is a lifesaver; it lights up an orange warning on the ORVM when another vehicle is trying to overtake from behind.
c) The lane departure alert gives a gentle tug on the steering wheel if you drift out of your lane on the highway, but you can easily adapt to it. It won’t trigger if you signal before changing lanes, which encourages good driving habits.
d) The rear traffic collision alert is super useful, as it can detect people, animals, or vehicles from a distance, even beyond what you can see in the side mirrors when reversing. I haven’t used the cruise control yet.

MILEAGE: I prefer driving at a comfortable pace and dislike that strong push-back feeling when accelerating. The Hycross is perfect for me; just a light press on the accelerator and you won’t even notice you’re cruising at 60 km/h. A gentle tap on the brakes is all it takes to slow down. I’ve been getting around 19 km/l on the highways and 17 km/l in heavy city traffic.

CERAMIC COATING: I had a graphene coating applied at CarzSpa for 35k, which comes with a 5-year warranty and includes maintenance every five years. Cleaning off dust has become much easier, but I’ll need to see how it holds up in the long run.

LIGHTS: The lighting is pretty subpar, to be honest. It might work fine on narrow roads, but it really falls short on highways and during rainy conditions. I decided to upgrade to NFS 110w bifocal fog lights, and it made a huge difference. They illuminate the road ahead without blinding drivers coming from the opposite direction. The upgrade cost me 18k.

Sun Glazing Film: The dealer installed sun control film with a 70% VLT for the windscreen and 50% VLT for the side and rear windows, using ceramic-coated film from Sunkool for 12k. It definitely helps in cutting down glare and keeping the heat inside the car more manageable.

P.S. This is a March 2025 model, so it’s branded as HEV instead of Hybrid. It produces a distinct HVAS (hybrid vehicle acoustic sound) when running on battery, which is a change from the previous model that was silent. However, the sound when reversing can be quite annoying.

PICS I’m sharing some pictures here. The color is a blackish ageha glass flake that appears greenish in bright sunlight, dark blue in the evening and under artificial light, and black in shaded areas.

Congratulations on new car !

Insurance is for 3 years comprehensive or 3 years third party + 1 year own damage cover ?

Amount looks quite steep!

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hello everyone,

Here is the story of how I got my hycross alias ROLEX.

Context:

Since my last post on this thread about losing my patience on the wait time(booking done on 5th Feb).I decided to take things in my own hands than being dependent on the dealer I booked the car with. Reached out to every single dealer in telangana to check if they had the GX(O) 8s variant of the hycross and none of them unfortunately did. Since I couldn't wait any longer, I decided to push the budget further and get a VX on 5th April.

Availability:
With VX the options opened up better and I gave every dealer the same condition, if it's the variant and seating configuration along with color I want, I will pick it up in a week. within a couple of hours, I was able to get availability of 8s VX hycross in multiple colors across hyderabad and the state.

Payment and documentation:
I wanted the vx 8s in pearl white and I finally got harsha toyota in LB Nagar offering me that. Without any further discussions. I sent them the booking amount. I discussed with the salesman on things I wanted to avoid, such as the accessories, ceramic coating and smiles and he did not push it further. No negotiations done on insurance too. On 7th, I went to the showroom to do the PDI and everything checked out. The vehicle was in mint condition, cross checked vin number to confirm it was March manufactured. By 10th, I got the loan cleared and down payment paid up.

Delivery:
I picked up the car today, 14th April and delivery experience was supremely subpar, I felt like I picked up a car after service. The sales guy spent almost zero time explaining any features, I had did my own research in figuring out all of the necessary stuff while I was waiting for delivery hence was not overwhelmed but it was clearly a very poor experience. Except the key handover, nothing worth celebrating and while I am happy that from not having any option to having the car in my garage in 7 days, I would have expected the dealer and salesman to show some more enthusiasm and customer service.

First impressions:

Got to the ORR in the first 10 kms and the vehicle just moves like a cube of butter on a nice hot pan. Still getting used to super silent hybrid, I think it will take me a few days to really get acclimatised.i will share a detailed review of my time with rolex once I get to the first service stage. Thank you for all your suggestions and for those who await their hycross, in my opinion, dealers are doing very little for those who are waiting it out. When the time and finances are right, go all guns blazing.

The ZX and ZX(O) already come with Green Laminated+Acoustic+IR Cut windshield from factory. It is mentioned clearly in brochure also. You didn't need to install sunfilm there.

IR CUT doesn't mean heat rejection. Sunfilm is required for heat rejection and having atleast 50% heat rejection makes a lot of difference in the car.

IR Cut exactly means heat rejection since thats the technical term for it.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

True the windscreen is laminated plus IR cut but putting the sun film caused minimal change in visibility. I can compare as he has left some slot for fast tag and I can see the difference in visibility is minimal. But heat rejection is good and glare is very less.

I am not expert on this and it maybe my bias also bcos I have paid this amount for it..

Congratulations on your new car!

THAT is a fascinating color. Single tone Silver alloys on dark-everyday cars is a match made in heaven. Looks so classy when the wheels are rotating!
I would advise you:
  • to go for an underbody anti rust treatment as soon you get your car as it will be a life saver if you live near coastal areas.
  • to buy a reliable dash cam with a super capacitor battery regardless of video quality

Does your variant of the Hycross have TPMS?

Wonderful Ride, Thank you.

I stand corrected. I thought these glasses just block uv rays.
ps : these are not so efficient in cutting heat that's what I meant to say.
I have Hyryder with these glasses and difference was huge after applying a good quality heat rejection film.

Around 50 percent heat in sunlight is contributed by infrared rays. Around 40 percent is contributed by visible light. Great quality sun films reject most of infra red and some visible light to give 50 to 55 percent heat rejection without compromising much on visibility. I'm not sure what the effective rejection is for the hycross IR rejection glasses.

Hyrder seems to have only green tinted glass though. Not the IR cut type.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

My Hycross VX came with R17 Apollo Apterra Cross. Are these good tyres for all terrains? If I were to upgrade them after they're worn out (and these do seem to be getting worn out fast), what should I upgrade to? Any help is appreciated.
