Any reason why I'm getting the notification of theft alert which results in sound coming from the car whenever we park near home and reason for theft is glass break?

However, they (Harsha Toyota) too couldn't rectify the issue when we gave the car for service today.

Due to this, my folks had to keep the car unlock rather than locking it.

Please tell me how to get this issue rectified?
Reason is your rear glass. I posted about this on 29 dec 24

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hello,

Anyone here using sun shades for Innova Hycross?

I've a Vx(o) , where the middle row windows come with Sun blinds. I need it for the 3rd row small windows and rear glass.

Something like this :
https://www.amazon.in/KINGSWAY-Z-Bla...zcF9hdGY&psc=1

Or this
https://www.amazon.in/Addict-Magneti...oyota%3AInnova

The problem is, it always comes in sets for all windows and the reviews are bad. So I would like to know if there is any particular brand that has a good fit? If so, I would buy the full set and use only ones required. Thanks in advance.

So did you end up buying the next car ? I too have this creeping feeling that the Hycross is too big for everyday use. Coincidentally, the Jeep Compass was the right size and interior quality is far ahead. As a Compass owner, what are your thoughts?

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I have been driving the Hycross VX(O) variant for 2 weeks in city now and here's my initial impression:

Pros:
  • The car is surprisingly easy to drive when compared to it's size. The additional cameras and sensors do help makinig judgement call in tight spaces a lot easier.
  • Suspensions work really well. On bad patches of road with slower speeds, the bumps are barely noticeable. Much better than my experience with XUV 700 test drive on same stretch.
  • Hycross is far from being underpowered. I have only driven in eco mode and have not felt the need for more power even once. Will try out other modes later.
  • The change from electric power to engine is seamless and smooth. Barely notieceable. Though when the engine switches on and starts charging the battery you do feel where's the additional power is being delivered.
  • I don't think any other car in this price range can beat Innova when it comes to offering space and utility. No problem in all 3 rows even with some luggage.
  • The infotainment system is extremely simple and functional. I like this implementation over having 100s of options to choose from.
  • Physical buttons for controlling AC & option to even control the rear AC from the center console.
  • The audio quality is decent for my needs. XUV 700 had a better sound quality. But I honestly don't mind this one either.

Cons:
  • Plastic quality is definitely subpar when compared to other cars in this price range. The clip holding one of the rear shades is already missing since delivery. The soft touch bits do help lift the experience a bit.
  • Handling might not be the best but then it's an MPV. I feel more confident of taking a certain sharp turn with my S Cross when compared to Hycross.
  • Bonnet/Boot/Window Switches should have been illuminated.
  • Camera is usable but the resolution and clarity is below average.
  • Fog lights are a gimmick. The one's in my S Cross are way better and people consider that below average

I am still forming my opinion around fuel efficiency & long drive comfort. So far in Bhubaneswar city traffic I am get around 10-12 km/l. One airport run I got close to 25 km/l. I also went against ideal recommendations and installed seat covers. It's a family car and cleaning fabric seats would be pain & overwhelmingly lost the vote for this. Took some time but fortunately got an option in the market which leaves an opening around side airbag side. Kind of similar to how you find seat covers in latest Marutis but with the non-airbag side covered. My choice of variant would have been ZX with bench seat but that's sadly not available

Some additional accessories that I have ordered (yet to arrive):
  • GFX lifelong mats from Zapcart (₹5k)
  • Wheel arch cladding from vvrcarcare after looking at installations from members in this forum.(₹7k)

Few more queries:
  • Can we get a full size spare wheel? And do we have option to enable/disable TPMS for the same?
  • Any known issues with the car that I should be aware of?
  • Is there no way to mute audio from steering mounted buttons? I really like that dedicated button in S Cross.

A picture of our Hycross.

I have driven my Hycross ZX for 32000kms and with my best efforts it has never given more than 22kmpl. I'm always surprised to see fellow owners getting more than 23kmpl. With experience driving a lot on highways I have learned to drive sensing how much throttle input to be given before inclined road and when to just release the pedal slightly so that it coasts on EV mode throughout the downward sloping roads until it reaches 80kmpl and then increase the speed slightly to repeat this cycle. I even release the pedal completely way before any obstacle comes closer so that I don't have to break aggressively. My tyre pressure for highway is 33psi.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Friends,

I presently own 2018 Model Innova Crysta 2.8 ZX Automatic Car. I am planning to upgrade the same. I am looking at Innova Hycross of MG Gloster. Can you pls suggest us which one is better.

This will be a daily drive car. I will be using in both City & Highway. My daily drive will be around 70 Kms.

Looking forward for your guidance.

Go for Hycross Hybrid. Even though the Gloster is a more premium car, the Hybrid Hycross comes as better pick especially since you have daily running of 70 kms.

Running cost will be significantly lesser on hybrid as compared to Diesel. Gloster isn't efficient, it gives just 8-10 kmpl. While Hycross will manage easily 17-19 kmpl. But you'll miss the raw power that 2.8 AT, while the Hybrid Powertrain isn't slow either.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I've bought a Hycross ZX (non ADAS) in January 2025 and here is some feedback after 8K kilometers driven

1) While it's a good vehicle overall, the quality of the sound system and camera is shockingly poor.

2) The camera clarity seems like what used to be standard 10 years ago, my 7 year old Tiguan & Alcazar have better camera clarity & depth.

3) The sound is so tinny, it's unbearable - is there any way to upgrade the sound system without affecting the cars warranty?

4) In the hills, especially while ascending the Engine gets noisy due to the TC gearbox making it rev hard in lower gears & there is a noticeable rubber band effect. I now appreciate the DSG box on my VW's a lot more for their seamless shifting and immediate power delivery.

5) While descending and in the plains, it's a nice silent drive, gives good mileage and is practical - the family likes it. I personally would like only to be a passenger in the Hycross and would drive the Tiguan, Passat or even the manual Alcazar while travelling alone (which I need to do quite frequently)

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi all,

I'm getting (FINALLY!!!!) the delivery of my GX(O) this week. Would really appreciate inputs on the following queries I had:

1. How does Toyota's OEM dash cam compare to third party ones?
2. The 3D floor mat seems like it will stay dirty perpetually while the fabric seems hard to clean. Any recommendation?
3. How does the iConnect app function? Does it need any additional device/SIM/charges? Are we able to track the location of the car using the app?
4. What's the advantage/disadvantage of getting 3 OD + 3 TP vs 1OD + 3 TP insurance?
5. Any recommendation for car cover?

Hi Nagaraj,

Crysta is an amazing one esp the 2.8 AT.
I do have one - caught in same minds for upgrade I’m either looking one more Crysta maybe less km run and new model. But prefer 2.8 than 2.4 AT. Or Hycross is also in minds.
Esp due to the ottoman seats !!

Of course if you ask me once a toyota guy always a toyota. For all reviews Hycross is one level above in terms of comfort, space and silent ride !! 😊

Regards

Hi Prsn,
Thanks for your reply. Has anyone tried MG GLOSTER. How does it compare in terms of ride quality, comfort, features, etc.
More insight on this will be highly appreciated

I have installed a Viofo in my S Cross and the Toyota dashcam in Hycross. There's a lot of difference honestly. Third party dashcam will offer impressive clarity. Hycross dashcam is not that bad but for the price there are better third party options.

I went with Toyota dashcam because the dealership handles all the electrical work & I don't have to worry about warranty issues.

3D floor mats are again strictly average. I have ordered GFX lifelong mats. Can share feedback about product & seller when it arrives. That said, it had positive reviews online & in the images it looked good.

Which dealer are you getting it from? If acceptable to you, Can i come over to have a look at the car as this model was not part of the test drive fleet and the dealership is not giving a headsup in case of a GXO delivery scheduled.

Have a look at 70Mai as well. They are much better than the Genuine accessories from Toyota.

Nagaraj, None in my circle. If I come across will definitely share.

Meanwhile do check out few points :

Turbo lag and the gearbox's reluctance to downshift make things awful in city traffic
• 4,000 rpm redline is too early. Engine has a very narrow powerband
• Urban fuel economy is mediocre due to the power & fat kerb weight
• Twin-turbo diesel, 8-speed AT & gizmos bring a lot of complexity. Long-term reliability is unknown (unlike the Fortuner & Endeavour

Few more :

You can floor the A pedal, make yourself a cup of coffee and come back before the engine + gearbox have figured out what you need. Only then does the Gloster surge forward. Overall, it seems to be a combination of bad gearbox tuning as well as turbo lag.

There maybe few plus points, which are of course easy to find and bonus for you !! Use it if any of your friends have, it may give a different perspective and not just road test but long drives and in city traffic also. But in terms of maintenance and long term reliability nothing comes close to Toyota I feel.
