3. No SIM. Only install APP on your phone, enter the VIN and you should be good to go. And of course the phone number used at the time of booking.

Hope this helps.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Thanks for the comprehensive post. I have booked the VX(O) variant in January, so I wanted to know how much time did your booking took?
Also, I've heard that showrooms are offering cars to people who are ready to take all the accessories and insurance.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hello everyone,

It's been month with my hycross vx and I am definitely more comfortable using it. Drove it down for my vacation to Kerala and it was such a hoot to drive. Thought I'd share my experience of pros and cons for others expecting their cars in the next few months.

Pros:
Super comfortable for me and family, everybody appreciates the acres of space on offer, it does not bounce around or have too much body roll which is a huge plus.

Explored the power mode and the dynamics change so fast and its seamless, thoroughly enjoyed it.

The air conditioning is worth the mention. It was extremely hot during our visit and the a/c would chill down the entire cabin in a few minutes.

I really loved how easy it is to drive, been driving a manual for around 16 years and I thought it would be painful switch, but I am glad I was wrong.

Cons:

These are things already discussed in the group, but sharing it as part of my experience. I hate the android auto is wired, there were times right in the middle of a junction the android auto would give up on me and I had to plug in and out a few times. I changed the cables, etc. but it just doesn't work seamlessly. Considering the portronics adapter: https://amzn.in/d/12D3rQv. Does anybody have experience using it, could you please advise.

The headlamps are there just for the sake of it. It's so unfortunate that a car at 34 lakhs doesn't get proper headlamps. I am considering getting a good pair of foglamps, i am unsure how to go about it without affecting my warranty though. Any references for reliable car accessories guy in hyderabad would be welcome.

Not a con but I assumed that the hybrid battery would be charged automatically when the car is on and idle for long durations with a/c on. Twice it happened that my car when left idle would not move as hybrid battery was completely drained out. I just had to press the power button again to switch to engine mode and continue driving. Anybody else faced this issue?

Thanks lambuhere1 and Silent Buddha

Very helpful. I can see different prices available for GFX mats online. Do you have any recommended sellers?

Feedback on the mats would be great.

I have been using the GFX mats since January 2024 when we got our Hycross. No issues with them at all. Fit is perfect and super easy to clean. Came with the trunk mat as well. I got them from carplus.in and they delivered within a day in NCR

The engine response cannot be the same.

The ICE engine in the hybrid is configured in Atkinsons mode and in the GX variants, its in the regular 4 stroke mode.

Hence you see the torque difference in the specs of both the variants.

Innova Hycross GX(O): A Car of Compromises

I have recently booked an Innova Hycross GX(O) 7-Seater. Reason for choosing Hycross was the Toyota badge of trust and creature comfort in a 7 Seater over other cars in the segment like XUV700.

Petrol version of the Hycross was chosen over the Hybrid versions as i do not foresee any benefits from a Hybrid engine in the long run given my annual running is not going to be more than 9000-10K KMs as this car is not going to serve as my primary mode of transport; also, this was the highest model without a sunroof.

However, off late i am starting to get a feeling that i am compromising a lot of essential features which should have been present by default in a car this costly like:
- Better headlights
- Better Alloy design
- Cruise Control
- Better sound system

Why i feel i am compromising is because i keep reminding myself on these missing features like:
- Ohh, will get a good fog lamp
- Lets replace and add additional coaxial speakers
- We should be ok without a Cruise Control on Highways

Query to other GX(O) owners: Do you feel i am just anxious and would be fine once i get to drive the vehicle or how did you cope with these compromises in such a costly car?

I have also booked the GXO because my yearly running will be less than 5k kms. I had also deeply analysed all the FACTS that you are mentioning -

1. If you are thinking that the ZXO lights are a league apart, you are highly mistaken. Hycross lights are insufficient in most circumstances and the maximum people I see upgrading to projector fog lamps are VX/O & ZX/O owners. A good set of Hella Projectors (9K street price, 13K MRP) that I mentioned a few posts back, with exact model number, will mostly solve your headlight issue to quite a extent, for night driving.

2. Alloy design is a compromise but the feedback I have received from many owners and online, is that, although the 17 inchers on the VX variant (not the 18 inchers on the ZX with a totally different alloy design) are the best compromise (amongst all Hycross models) between ride quality and handling. BUT even their alloy design (VX models) is exactly similar to the GX, except the 1 inch size difference. Also the ride comfort is the maximum with the stock 16 inchers on the GX which has the tallest sidewall amongst all models for our Indian road conditions. Alloy upgrade is always a easily doable option, if that is a must for someone.

3. I have seen Cruise Control being retrofitted with OEM Toyota parts from Thailand/Indonesia for less than 15k at many good accessory dealers and working perfectly, if that is utterly essential to you. Although for my low running, I found it almost useless on my Skoda Superb that I owned for 13 years and hardly ever used it, that I have now recently sold.

4. Sound System - Again the maximum people I have seen upgrading their speakers are the ZX owners with a stock 9 speaker system (6 in front, 2 in middle and 1 sub in the rear - all flimsy paper cone speakers with pathetic magnet size. Just get them opened up to believe what I am saying). Stock speakers suck on every Toyota and that is a fact. I have again posted the speaker upgrade I plan to do, on receiving the vehicle, a few posts back with world class 6/8 x Pioneer Speakers, for less than 10k (again 4/6 in the front and 2 in middle). It is a plug and play job with zero wire cutting. In fact GXO (7 seater that I have booked) has the same head unit as the ZXO (10 incher), while even the 5 lac costlier VX model has a lower specced 8 inch unit, and even misses out on stock fog lights.

The inherent benefits of this marvelously engineered Hycross platform remains as it is! And you get a 10 speed CVT instead the 6 on the hybrids.

No compromises, just a frame of mind... Cheers.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

How to Secure Luggage inside car in motion.

Hi,

How do you guys secure the luggage inside the car, when third row seats are down and we have luggage loaded ?

How do you prevent them swaying around due to the motion, speed bumps, turns ? And prevent any injuries to personnel or damage to the car?

Do you use luggage straps or nets or anti slip mats, in this scenario ?

Any pointers are highly appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I believe the difference between the perspective lies in vantage point. While you look at ZX models which are whoppingly costly as standard, I am considering petrol cars in the same price point and the difference in features one would get for approximately the same price and thus getting a feeling of making a compromise in features while valuing creature comfort and brand trust.

So what is your vantage point? Your post correlates to another vantage point, one for bikes, which I strongly agree with. Kindly refer to this post here by a fellow Team member - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...ml#post5975820 (Kawasaki Versys X 300 ADV spotted testing in India)

It beautifully articulates -

Social media, vloggers, influencers, media ride rhetoric and the likes have become a big factor affecting buyers psychology and perceptions in recent times.

A good and relevant product which will most likely not sell well under the weight of the expectations set by the social media influencers today.
So either you get blown away and get influenced by factors which are subservient, or look at things objectively and proceed.

Best of luck sorting out your dilemma.

Cheers...

There is no perfect car, period !!

I choose my cars based on features I need in the car, there could be features missing at that price point, but I look at ==> do I really need them and how critical they are.

There are much cheaper cars with good looking alloys, lights, head unit etc, even small car like Tata Tiago comes with Cruise Control !!

I hardly used Cruise Control in my Duster in 8 years of ownership.

Yes, there are missing bits in GX(O)'s price point, but they don't bother me, its been 6+ months and I have no regrets. The positives in GX(O) out weighs all missing ones, however, we can always upgrade certain features/accessories.

My detailed ownership review:

I changed to good looking alloys:

How is the wheel arch cladding holding up? The showroom was discouraging me to get them saying they peel off etc.

I got a dent when a Santro rubbed me near rear passenger side around the petrol tank. The cladding came off slightly as well.

Toyota Innova Hycross Review-img_20250531_113443.jpg

Got that side repainted later along with front bumper when I had a minor accident hitting a broken small wood piece on road at night.

The wheel well liner came off near driver side. The impact caused the wheel arch cladding to come off partially and I removed it manually since the screws held the cladding attached to the car.

Toyota Innova Hycross Review-img_20250531_115310.jpg

Asked the paint shop to remove the other 2 claddings which were were fine. So now driving without wheel arch cladding.

It will hold up pretty good if no such incidents. While applying add additional 3M tapes also to get a stronger bond.

But now I got used to the looks without cladding and the car is over 2 years old.
