I observed that when closing all windows + sunroof with remote, the sunroof sliding layer doesn't close. Is this expected behaviour? The service center guys were curious too but since I was the 1st guy who even asked for this they don't have an answer yet.
Same here in Bangalore - the service center technicians were clueless about this feature in Dec'2024. I had to push them to explore and told them that the car has an "auto up" module so this feature can be customized as written in the manual! So after an hour, they were able to activate it!
Regarding the sun blinds below the sun roof, I too had this questions and after exploring I concluded that it is the expected behavior as the manual explains the behavior for sun roof alone and doesn't mention the sun blinds!

However they have a section where they mention the word "Sun blinds" separately, see the image attached. So I concluded that the manual would have both the mentioned of sun blinds and moon roof for customization if it was so!

(Yes we as users, use the sun roof moon roof interchangeably - but Toyota calls it moon roof as its a tinted glass and not opaque glass)

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi everyone, I would like to know the service costs for 10000km service without smiles package at Bangalore. I own an Invicto and wanted to know corresponding costs for the hycross. I was quoted 10000 rs for engine oil, filter, air filter, wheel alignment and balancing along with 1000 rs for consumables(included in final cost). I feel it’s very high seeing many posts in our forum. Can Bangalore based owners please throw some light on it ? Thanks in advance.

I got this setting changed as well during my first service and can confirm that this is expected behaviour. The sun roof does not close fully and you have to manually get it done.

However, I would not recommend getting this setting done. While I had requested this, I wanted to enable the function mainly to ensure that when I lock the doors using the remote any open windows are rolled up as well automatically. For this you have to give it a long press which you would not do every time.

On the flip side, while opening the the doors if you end up giving it a long press, the windows roll down and the sun roof + moon roof opens as well. This is not much of a challenge if you are in a dry spot or when the top of your car is clean. Imagine you ending up giving the open button on the remote a long press when your car is parked in rain or if there is say too much dust/leaves on top of your car. You do not want those entering the car through the roof. In hindsight, I feel I should not have activated this feature. Will get it reversed when I go in for the second service.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

How difficult it will be for Toyota to update the headlights after seeing so many complaints?
are they not doing it as it may lead to violation if any guidelines applicable on the brightness (just guessing). else it is unfair to put the customers at risk on highway drives that too after paying 3-4 million for a car. this makes even a 5 star crash tested car unsafe (Hycross not crash tested as far as i know)

Very true that is not just one press! But I do not see that its not fully closed. I always try to hold the lock button pressed as long as the moon roof is fully closed (of-course the time taken for the window glass to close is less than how much time it takes for the moon roof to close).

Also, since i've this on my key
https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0CLHB12BW?...n_title_1&th=1
It restricts me from doing a long press unlock - I am motivated to use the door sensors for lock and unlock.

Thank you for saying that, its a reassurance for me. I was thinking on the same line too, not to release any fund without seeing the car. But did not want to express being adamant considering not to loose this booking allotment. About the VIN, I hadn't known we could ask for that, I will take it up with showroom.

Lastly what is the best tyre upgrade on the GX (O) retaining the 16" stock wheels.
Could any of you give me some inputs to these?

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Just got the first 1000 km service done. It was more of a checkup on the hybrid system and mechanical parts, took 2 hours. Enquired about the option for a fog lamp change but the service engineer told that even if it gets done from authorized service center, if some issue arises the service technicians will not handle it saying that its non OEM. Makes me think about how the warranty claims would be handled if need be. Frankly, I find the lights to be okay and I believe thats mostly because my other car happens to be 2020 Seltos which I feel has got the worst lighting setup.

I had paid Rs.3200 for the 10000km service. This included engine oil, oil filter and windshield washer fluid while labour is free. Toyota doesnt ask for air filter replacement at 10000km and i did not opt for alignment/balancing. You quote seems too high even with those things added.

As per dealer, they check all lights and wash the car for first service. There is no oil change.

Dealer quoted premium for first year was 1.03 lakhs.
Own Damage premium component was 40K, and I got 50% No-claim-bonus on this. Hence I paid 83K. This included 3rd Party for 3 years (27K or something), add-ons and GST. IDV was 21 lakhs I think.

Upon renewal, dealer quoted 32K for an IDV of 18 Lakhs, including the same addons (Consumbles, Nil depreciation, Return to Invoice, Key protect, Engine protect, Tyre and Alloy cover). Own damage cover for this IDV was just 12K and I got 50% No-claim-bonus on this, hence I paid 26k. Renewal excluded third party premium as it was already paid for during first year.

thanks for that input Jinojohnt. The dealer has come to me with an 80K quote, which is under further negotiation.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Highest Mileage – 99.9km/l – Just beat that.

Is it a firmware issue with the system, need to figure it out. Reproducing will be a challenge though.

New Challenge - VSC Issue

On another note, need your esteemed thoughts on a peculiar issue with VSC engage and disengage. I have a particular bad path of road near my place, wherein whenever I ride over it, VSC gets activated, and deactivated. One can hear the motor kr kr sound when the VSC is alive. It appears to be working as intended.

Now the interesting part is that after the above event and when I park my hycross and switch it off, I still hear some motor wining noise (or is it the brake motor still active because of VSC initiation, not sure), as if it is an actuator trying to open and close something. Not particularly sure though. The only way to stop this motor wining noise is to restart hycross and stop again after a minute or two.

Was not able to reproduce the same at the service center.

Fun fact: Service center guys says that even after one switch off Hycross, we are bound to hear live motor noises. Doesn’t build confidence on their statements and diagnosis.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Just completed 20k kms and got the Periodic Maintenance done of my Hycross GX.

Since last 3000 kms there was very low wobbling kind of sound. I suspected it to be wheel balancing, but it wasn't. Tyre was balanced and dealer said it could be other issue. Then decided to get it checked with Toyota and voila, it was wheel bearing that had given up. It was replaced under warranty. But side effect was that the stock tyres (Apollo Apterra HLs) have step wear on them.

I don't know it's tyre defect or due to bearing.

Today during service, car was checked again and after tyre rotation, the problem persisted because the sound was audible especially at speeds of 60-100 kmph. I wanted to get this issue resolved, hence asked them to fit tyres of different car of same size and check for sound. After doing so, the sound dissapeared, so stock tyres are in need of replacement if sound is concern.

Now I have decided to replace tyres and want to know which brand to go for. Tyre size is 205/65/R16.

My 1st preference is Michelin Primacy 4ST. Have used 3ST in our VW Jetta and they have hold up very well. No sidewall cut, minimal punctures (just 2-3 times) and excellent wet grip along with less noise. They are worth the premium. Only issue is limted availability.

My usage is mostly on highway and expressway.

Your suggestions are welcome.

Add continental UC6 to that list. I use that on my Crysta for the same tyre size and I'm very happy with its performance.
