Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Point to be noted is Crysta VX was Manual and Hycross VX is automatic at same cost to the end user.

All the 3 points mentioned above are after market accessories specially camera and music system. Both these can be changes after some time and their value wouldn’t depreciate in the sense one wouldn’t get any exchange price for them in any case.

Tyres are different because the earlier the decision made about them the better. Some conversations in this thread already about the tyre size, you may want to refer to the same.

Hence a lot depends on the test drive. That being said, the mods / changes I am thinking of after a few months down the line are:

1. Camera
2. Music system
3. Seat covers
4. Roof storage

And am not getting unduly worried about them. And my wallet doesn’t allow me to be so either

Tyres are the main open point.

Thanks for the one to one, however there seems some doubts rregarding going for higher profile v/s width. As you have rightly pointed out ZX(o) is unnecessarily expensive, i would want the cars performance (mileage/alignment) not affected much. Some suggest going for the 235/55 , some suggest 225/60 . i was thinking if someone goes with 235/60 for better stability and higher comfort how much would it potentially affect the drivability (mileage and alignment)

Also i spoke to my dealer regarding change in the same. But they say they cannot allow the same. Any help?

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I haven't done this tyre replacement in a new vehicle before, could anyone enlighten how does it usually work?

Do we pay the differential cost of new tyre minus market cost of the OEM ones or do we pay the full cost of the new tyre and then try and sell the company fitted tyres on our own?

Can the Toyota showroom guys replace the tyres for me, or will I need to drive the vehicle to another tyre shop and get it replaced? Wouldn't the tyre shop guy bargain hard to pay lesser amount for the OEM tyres?

Hi BlueJay

Your answers lie in your question itself

Your analysis is spot on. Dealers do not encourage to go for a tyre change and neither do they do it themselves (as far as I know).

The Standard Operating Procedure is to:
1. Confirm the tyre details during PDI
2. Reach out to a specialised tyre shop
3. Negotiate on an exchange price
4. On delivery, drive directly to the tyre shop and get the tyres exchanged. This will ensure that the tyres are still classified as “new” and the tyre shop can sell them at full price.

Dealers usually help out in swapping the tyres of the lower variant with higher ones from top models. or some brands have their own alloys to change from. but if you are planning to change just the rubber do it from outside. discuss it with a tyre dealer get a rate for your tyre and exchange it.

But what i feel is if someone actually has spare tyres of the desired size they should first try it on and give a review to everyone coz I feel just for a really really small amount of comfort difference spending 15*4 = 60k min initially is a bit off. coz unlike other cars where people change for offroad capability and better traction, this is a people mover so analysing the actual comfort difference is a key point

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...-cancel-2.html (Do you intend to retain your Toyota Innova Hycross booking, or cancel?)
Really surprised at the poll results on this thread. Though we should not take straw polls seriously, it is very concerning for Toyota to see only 25% has decided to retain the booking. 25% has cancelled the booking and rest 50% are indecisive.

The car was launched with lot of positive vibes. In the last two months, not sure what has gone wrong? Is it wrong strategy, dealer attitude, poor interiors, delay in pricing and test drives or simply the tapering of interest? Toyota has to really pull up the socks here.

With Crysta back in sale, I am seeing next to nil commercial interest in hycross. GX variant will be hard to sell. They should have provided 6 airbags in VX increased its price by around 60K. With only VX and ZX variants available in Hycross.

The poll is quite accurate to be honest

Let us consider the customers
There will be fleet owners and normal home buyers

Now fleet owners might go towards crysta and low end only a few companies and hotels would buy the top end for their purpose

Now coming to normal buyers like us on Team BHP

Now who are the potential buyers of any car

1) People who buy their first car and people who own less than 10 lakh car ( hatchbacks and low end compact sedans and compact SUV )

2) People who own 10-25 lakh car ( high end Compact sedan, compact SUV, Sedans and SUV)

3) People who actually own Innova Crysta

4) Peole who have a higher price range car or a luxury car

Category 1 there would be negligible people to jump to a 30 lakh car so let's leave that category

Category 4 there will be people like politicians and high job paying people they might consist of 25% of the sales then let's give another 25% to fleet owners also and that total 50% let's leave out from this poll

Now the rest 50% can be considered as category 2 and 3 and I think most BHPians over here are under this category

Now in category 2 most people have vehicles like Creta, Seltos, Hector, Honda City, Verna etc. Now people in this category already have well equipped cars now and the only options in hycross are VX for 31 lakhs and ZX for 37 now most of these owners will start thinking of is the upgrade worth it. Coz if you are jumping for a family car with 8 seats then VX is the only option but VX has no features at all not even 6 airbags. And ZX at 37 lakhs does not even have the rich feeling interiors of the cars all these people already have
and further ZX is actually a 6 seater for adults

It is the same case for people in 3rd category who own a crysta. Crysta is a proven vehicle and when switching to hycross ZX is the only option that is a upgrade to Crysta. VX hycross has similar features just the hybrid engine and new look is a change and nothing else

Now let us actually calculate the hybrid running cost with diesel. Most people in this 50% will choose this car for highway driving and less city.

Urban Cruiser Hyryder has claimed mileage of 27 and gets 20 on the highway for most people. Now let us consider Hycross mileage as 16kmpl on highway so to travel 1000km you need 6400 rs of petrol ( current Bangalore rate) and let us consider crysta diel having 12 kmpl on highway so to travel 1000km we need 7250 rs of diesel. Now the price difference is not that much. ( Yes there are other factors of diesel to consider but here we are taking into consideration people who already own crysta)

Now this category of people either have to go for ZX to get any extra features from existing cars and even at 37 lakhs the interiors don't feel up to the mark.

And this price range of 30-40 lakhs has a lot of second hand cars like Benz, Audi etc etc even used fortuners available. And most of these cars have top notch interiors.

So the result of the poll is quite right.
There will be a lot of people who will cancel and many have difficulty deciding what to do coz 31 or 37 lakhs is a huge amount

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Some madlad in Indonesia decided to go all out with the Innova hybrid and posted a top speed and acceleration run. Now I will probably never go anywhere near these speeds but it is interesting to see what the car is capable off considering it is a massive MUV with a 2 litre engine and the aerodynamics of a brick wall.
