Regenerative braking only uses the electric motors and doesn't use the actual brakes at all.

That dealer seems to be looting money. 17000 is the cost of new tyre. You are giving back your unused stock tyres. The replacement should have been charged 4000 per unit at max. Please check with a tyre shop locally. Your hard earned money will be saved.

Certainly yes since you are upsizing the overall diameter. You will be riding at 100mph as per the speedometer while your actual speed will 105 mph

Finally test drove Innova Hycross. Went to Nandi Toyota early at 9:00 am itself when they open there was no one at that time in the showroom the security just let us in.

Here are my points.

1. The car starts off really silent and is amazing.

2. Once it gets to speed the engine starts but is silent until we give a hard accelerator.

3. On revs it gets loud but not as much as diesel. it's loud but not noisy.

4. Body roll is almost zero just the roll caused by the height otherwise none.

5. Drivers view is really nice and feels like sitting in a proper SUV.

6. Overall it's more than enough for a family car.

7. In power mode with 6 people in, it accelerated to 100 in almost 10.5 seconds. Eco mode can only be used in cities and is sufficient.

8. The screen graphics show us how the system works and it's amazing. Most of the time while not accelerating it switches over and starts charging and at full stops the engine stops.

9. I loaded the car with 6 passengers and people under 5.7 feet can sit really comfortably in all 3 rows but people at 6 feet only first 2 rows.

10. The Screen is really bad and not expected in this price range. Hope they rectify it with updates but since it's a JBL unit not to expect any updates like XUV700 or Hector.

11. On loading 6 people the car does dip down at the back a bit and the small profile tires do make it look bad.

12. I will be going ahead with the purchase and mostly will receive the car by end of Feb.

Today got to test-drive and see the car extensively. The ZX(O) varients.
The car drives well. It doesn't feel underpowered. Anyone looking for a people mover will be pleased with its comfort and driving dynamics.

The interior is a big let down. The premiumness is missing from the car which is going for 34+ lacs on road. The plastic is actually an eye sore.

The one size fits all approach of Toyota with the interiors is clearly not working for customers like myself.

I would rather pay more than settle for the interior on offer.

I'm inclined to go ahead with the cancellation of my opening day booking but still have no direction on a better 6/7 seater car better than the hycross.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Did a pdi through WhatsApp call yesterday. Today I saw from the picture posted earlier in this thread that Nandi Toyota had allowed the car to be opened and handled by potential customers. The car below is the car alloted to me.

I think this car is not the one alloted to you coz this car is now inside the showroom for display. That day there was a white colour ZX(0) inside the showroom. Now they removed that and put this car

They look same to me. If they put this car inside the showroom, that would be even worse. The picture below was taken yesterday, same location, looks like same number too.

Got a chance to test drive the Innova Hycross ZX(O) over the weekend at Shaw Toyota Pune. Had already booked the ZX model in November along with XUV 700 AX7 L petrol (showing March 2024 delivery), and I was also contemplating about the Hector plus 7 seater petrol CVT 2023 facelift since last month.

Below is my overall observation about Hycross,
1. The car does have a good road presence and I liked the front and side looks. The back side is the least impressive.
2. The tyre profile looks okay in person than in photographs.
3. The body looks sturdy, and the doors were quite heavy, which was expected from Toyota.
4. Interior quality felt like a 12-15 lacs segment car as soon as you enter the driver seat. The cheap quality of plastic was evident all over the place. The soft-touch material looked flimsy. While I was still settling down in the driver-side seat, my wifey reaction was a Big NO to the car as soon as she entered on the passenger side. I asked her to settle down and take the test drive. I guess she already had made up her mind by then to not spend 35+ lacs on this car.
5. We took the test drive for almost 30 minutes and went through the city traffic and uneven/potholed roads.
6. The car was absolutely silent after I started the ignition
7. As soon as I put the pedal on the gas, the engine started and it became louder as I pressed the metal. I felt that the engine noise was a bit on the higher side, even at the slower speed. The sunroof and all the windows were closed. I asked the SA about it, and he said "Sir, 2.0 ltr ka bada engine hai, itna awaaj toh karega hi", and I was like, really. I was driving at around 50-60 kmph at that time.
8. The best part was that the car never felt underwhelmed at any time and the power seemed adequate (at least for city driving). However, I could barely reach 80 kmph for a short period on an empty road, as otherwise, it was full of moving traffic and the speed was limited to under 30-40 kmph most of the time.
9. Braking was good. The SA was confident of ADAS and asked me to try the forward collision emergency braking, but I was a bit hesitant, so didn't try that.
10. Couldn't check any other features of the ADAS.
11. Coming from a sedan (ford fiesta 1.6 SXI), I and my wife felt the size was overwhelming. (never felt like that in XUV700 and Hector plus while test-driving)
12. My wife (5.3") felt that the infotainment system was obstructing the front field of view (middle side). We tried multiple seat adjustments, but couldn't find the right spot for her to drive comfortably. Also, the driver-side armrest is not sliding and given that the seat was moved forward for her to let the feet reach the pedals, she felt uncomfortable resting her arm on the armrest as it was way far on the back side and the seat bolstering on the side was coming in the way. Did anyone else also feel the same?
13. The ride comfort on the passenger side, second and third rows is quite good, however, the second row is the best place to be on Hycross (at least for medium-height people).
14. After completing the test drive, we checked on the features, and fit-n-finish of the car in detail. We both agreed that the car has ample space, seat comfort, and better boot space (than XUV700 and Hector plus). Apart from the cheap-looking plastic, there were just two fit-n-finish issues I could find, which were related to the cloth covering the sunroof not fully closing till the end (picture attached), and ambient light is just an afterthought. The central console has no space to keep your stuff other than inside the driver-side armrest, else you have to put your stuff in the cup holders. Providing a way on the back of the second-row ottoman seat to slide by the third-row passenger is quite thoughtful, however, the electric adjustment is quite painful as it takes some time as compared to manual adjustment. The armrest on the ottoman seat is quite thin in width (just 2 fingers wide) and felt a bit delicate.

Overall, we felt that this car left a lot to be desired in terms of premiumness, fit-n-finish and cabin noise front at this price point. While I am still to make my final decision, my wife has already given her verdict to not go ahead with Hycross. Most probably, I will be cancelling my booking.

Many cancellations will happen now. The Hycross deliveries in Faridabad will start by March. The VX version does not come with 6 airbags. Before Oct, every 7 seater vehicle needs to have 6 airbags mandatory. Which means that VX will have 6 airbags by July Aug. Which means Hycross update will happen in 4 months after March! It will be better to wait for deliveries to begin and user reviews to pour in before making a buying decision for a 2 airbag 7 seater ! I am 100% sure, Innova Hycross will get another update soon based upon user reviews and inclusion of 6 airbags as standard before July Aug 2023!

It's great that you didn't try the emergency braking despite insistence of your sales guy, as the hycross doesn't have any such feature.

You're right, the brochure mentions that the pre-collision system just gives you a warning. It doesn't have any auto braking feature.

I have a feeling Nandi Toyota is pulling some weird moves, the cars that I see in stock seem to be most probably based on the booking Toyota received on launch day however they are not allocating it as per direct bookings but based on dealer bookings or other influence.
Does anyone have an idea about how this can be escalated to TKM? What is the point of booking early and directly with the company if the dealership does not honour it?
